My good friend and bridesmaid keeps telling me she is worried about my expectations. I keep telling her that my only expectation is that we remain friends and that she come to my wedding wearing a dress, unless something major comes up. Thanks to the wedding industry, she doesn't seem to believe me.
Yeah some of my bridesmaids and MOH have expressed their concerns as well. I've said countlessly, whatever you wanna do for a b party / shower is totally up to you. If you wanna have pizza as the main course, I really don't care. I don't even need any of it!

One of my MOHs had concerns like this until I informed her at least twice that as long as she shows up, we are good.

Would I like to do a big ass party weekend in ATL for my bachelorette? Sure! Is that feasible or necessary? Hell naw! I'm not a reality tv star (as much as I would like to be), and neither are my friends. We will probably go see a drag show in Boston with some friends, and that's perfectly fine with me.

Yeah, an all out extravagant weekend away somewhere sounds like a blast, but there's no way that's possible. I would never want my BM's to go broke over my wedding.

The drag show in Boston sounds fun! I'm probably going to end up going bowling or something, which sounds awesome to me :)

  • I just came for the DD.

@beethery - Jacques.  It was the best time and not uber expensive.  We took one of my friends there for her b party.

We were probably going to figure it out for when both Raven and JuJuBee were in town

We are maaaaaaaaajor RuPaul's Drag Race fans, so we are going to plan accordingly. I will DEFINITELY keep that in mind though. I haven't been to any of the drag bars in Boston yet.

I just feel really jealous there are actual drag bars in Boston. We just have gay bars were drag queens will go and occasionally they host a drag show. We also only have one lesbian bar. Living in a conservative state sucks sometimes.

But hey, we got a ton of duche bag bars. Seriously, so many d-bags! You can see them in their natural habitat. And hipster bars. Where people tell you PBR is good beer.

Boston has plenty of dbag & hipster bars.  Luckily I don't go to bars in Boston much anymore.  I stay closer to home where the bars are all walking distance from my house.

@beethery A guy I went to high school with was on this season of Ru Paul's drag race.  Such a sweet guy, so happy for him.  There aren't really specific drag clubs around here but places have drag shows, I'm too lazy to take the train into Boston and it's so expensive.  But anyways didn't get in to the show until this season because of him and now I love it.

FH watches House with me when he's bored, but when I start talking about how much I just adore him, he goes outside to tinker around in the shop.

    I just think he's awesome-sauce!

It's still considered rude. Leaving up your post so lurkers can read it and get answers is much more helpful.

Agreed, just was postulating possible reasons.
  • I've already hosted her shower and bought the shoes. I thought it was customary for the bride to pick out the shoes so I did what she asked. But the specific hairstyle? The extravagant bachelorette party? Seems a bit much. Especially when she is already living with and has a child with the guy she is marrying. (Not saying there's anything wrong with that but technically in my opinion she's not a "bachelorette") I would have no problem throwing her a more traditional bachelorette party but it seems a bit much to be doing all this. It's stressing me out big time! I love her but she keeps saying to me "I'm allowed to be a little bit selfish." It's my wedding." So I don't know what to say without her getting mad. You only get one bachelorette party and wedding so I want it to be what she wants but I wish she was a little more relaxed about it.

Oh HELL NO!  The only person who gets to be "selfish" with my money is ME, lol.

And as to the Hugh Laurie vs. Jeff Goldblum crushes.  Yes, yes and yummy.  To both of them.  What is it about craggy, older guys with angst that (at least sometimes) just makes them hotter?
