What did you get done today?

Re: What did you get done today?

  • I embossed a cute little seahorse onto each of our invites. I had a moment of weakness and added a tiny bit of glitter embossing powder to the blue, and now there's glitter EVERYWHERE. It truly is the herpes of the craft world. My kitchen counter looks like it was designed by Lisa Frank and it will probably still look like that when we move out in two months. Anyway, that was a 2 hourish task that I've been putting off forever so yay!

  • I haven't gotten it done yet, but my first dress fitting is this evening.  For the past week I've been fighting random impulse fears of "What if it doesn't fit anymore?"   I seriously shooed the cat out of the bedroom, vacuumed furiously (who wants cat hair on their wedding dress?), and tried the dress the other day because I was stressing out about something so ridiculous.

  • We picked up our marriage license last night!!!  They're valid for 90 days in my state so we decided to pick it up early so we didn't forget to do it at the last minute.
  • I had my first fitting last night and this morning I received the proof photos from our floral designer (artificial).  I can't believe how close we are getting...   :-)
    Anniversary
  • I dropped invites off at the post office yesterday!  4 days until we find out where fiance's job will take us after the wedding, so a lot of little plans can be made once we know that...
  • I had a bridal shower today, and have another one tomorrow! Today's was wonderful, and we had so much fun. We found and put the deposit on the house we're moving into after the wedding, worked on a few small things here and there throughout the week, and got a bunch of RSVPs back. Monday I pick up my dress (!!!) and Tuesday night we're meeting with our officiant to go over the ceremony. 54 days!
  • We finalized our floral arrangements with the florist and she did a mock up and I love it!!!! We also had our cake tasting and worked out the cake design too.  Yay and I bought pens for the guest book and a cake cutter.

    Anniversary

  • Things checked off the list this week:
    1. Picked up my wedding band.
    2. Fiance ordered his wedding band.
    3. Had our ceremony planning call with our officiant.

The call really drove it home for FI.  He got all emotional just talking about certain parts of planning the ceremony.  It was really sweet.

  • This weekend we picked up my wedding band, we went to get FI's wedding band and it was the wrong one, so they are going to check into what happened and call on Tuesday.  We also met with the priest today and finalized everything for the ceremony.

FI had his bachelor party and I spring cleaned the house. While it might not seem like a wedding accomplishment it was adding to my overall stress. Now that the house is clean I can focus on doing other wedding related tasks.
  • I made our table numbers and began writing up the escort cards. Tomorrow FI and I are applying for our marriage licence! Eek! 31 days!!!
    image
  • I made the rough draft of our ceremony programs and most of the music for the dances at the reception have been selected.

  • @emily327523 - Do you have access to a paper cutter somewhere? (if not, they may have one for use at Kinkos or Staples or something).  If so, you could buy regular 8.5 x 11 card stock, print 2 side-by-side programs, and cut them in half length wise.  Just make sure the blade on the cutter is sharp, since card stock is heavy.

The other day I sent out TY cards from the shower. I should've sent them earlier but I didn't do too bad. Today I found possible flights for my friends to make it out here. I need to get the the PO to figure out if I need stamps or what. I might get some invites reprinted because I made a typo. I don't have enough paper to redo all of them, but over half.

  • Programs are done and approved by the pastor, and this morning I printed the 'proofs.' I will take them to the print shop to get a quote on Monday. If it's not too bad, I'll send them there (printing invites ourselves caused enough headaches).

    RSVPs are rolling in. :)

I finished our cake topper (made it out of twisted wire) and spray painted it--it's drying in the driveway now.

Bought earrings and dropped my necklace off to have the chain shortened.

I'm still trying to finalize my shoes and undergarments (sometimes it sucks living in the middle of nowhere and relying on online shopping!), but I think I found them both.

I realized today that I can start writing names onto the escort cards!
  • I had my shower yesterday, so I began to work on thank you notes.  Today we met with our DJ to finalize our music for the reception.  Then we shopped and bought gifts for our parents, and send out our ceremony program to be approved by our priest.

    Anniversary

  • I took my program to the local print shop today, but they can't do them because they're 6x6 (we bought a kit from Hobby Lobby). These stupid square things are driving me crazy! There is another shop in town, but I don't know when I'll be able to get there...they aren't open long enough for me to go there after work.

I'm about to finish up the last of the thank you's for gifts we've gotten early. :)

I picked up my dress today! I was kind of nervous because I gained some weight but it actually looks better imo.

I just rounded up some more addresses and I think I'll call the hotels to set up a block and finish up my website.

  • Hair and makeup trial this afternoon. Final dress fitting and florist meetings this coming week. Picking up marriage license and final photographer meeting the week after that. So much going on in the next couple of weeks! But after that it should be smooth sailing through June with playlists and seating arrangements being the other big things we will have to get done.

  • Last Dress fitting yesterday.  Hair trial on Thursday and Makeup Trial on Saturday...26 days and counting.

I finally, finally, go a cake (yay!).  A two-tier (chocolate & white, with chocolate ganache filling), butter cream frosting.

Also ordered 60 cake pops (variety); 60 cupcakes (variety), 5 dozen cookies (variety), and 40 brownies.  This will complete our dessert bar (along with sea salt caramels, fruit, and the ice cream bar).

So happy to have this one done!

I wanted it all. I have a sweet tooth. I'm mostly excited by the ice cream.  I want some now :-)

How is your brooch bouquet going? I am making one myself as well. I have made all of the brooch "flowers" and got the silk flowers for the bouquet but i'm having a hard time figuring out how to put them in so they look perfect. Any ideas?

Where did you get your cake pops and brownies? I am looking for a place to order them for our dessert bar?

Donut Bank. In fact I got all of it there. My shower cake was from there and it was 10x better than all the bakery shops I visited over the past year for tastings.  The entire order was just under $350, but the only thing is they don't deliver.  Since our cake is small, not a big deal.

I met with our DoC today and she is awesome.  I also finished our programs.  I made 85 for 135 people, so I believe that will be enough since couples usually only take one, and some don't take any.

I bought mine a while back. I needed them for fullness, not length.  If I were to buy them again, I would definitely get the ones with combs already attached.  It is worth the few extra dollars--especially if you are pressed for time.  Sewing the combs on took 2-3 hours.

  • We made our favor donation, and we have a preliminary seating chart done, and are just waiting to hear back from our organist to confirm the program is ok.  My bachelorette party is tomorrow.  I have no idea what is going on for it but I'm excited.

    Have fun!

I had my last haircolor and the hair trial done last night - I loved it!  I even brought the jewelry with me so I could get a better idea of the whole look :-)  And after two other jewelry stores, I finally found one that was willing to engrave FI's wedding band.  I didn't realize Things Remembered doesn't engrave rings!
