I'm Back!! Because I saw this today.

Re: I'm Back!! Because I saw this today.

  • There should be an office manager you could complain to. If not, I'd go straight to the practice owner. So not okay. At all. Ever.

  • Oh god no. No no no.

    No no no no no.
No no no no no no no.
    No no no no no.
  • Wait. No. I'm back to imploding.

So people are walking into this place with their sick/injured animals, or animals they've been told have to be put to sleep because of said illness/injury, and the entire time they're trying not to cry through the registration process, they have to stare at some bitch's picture above an ad asking for money to pay for her fucking wedding?

    NO. OH HELL NO.

Some people have to put their beloved pets to sleep, furry members of their family, because they don't have enough money to pay for drugs or chemo or whatnot, and she's asking for money for a WEDDING, something you can have for a $20 license fee?!?

These people didn't create a GoFundMe for Spot, Fido, or Miss Whiskers, but she's asking for charity for a wedding and honeymoon.

    Oh. My. God.

I'm just going to sign my name to this.
    Me, too.
I will also sign my name to this. As someone who has had to put down two of my fur babies at a vet due to illness and not being able to afford other treatments ($20k for one and $12k for the other, and still no guarantee that the treatments would work), I would have created a scene right then and there if I saw that while my furry family member was ill. This is absolutely disgusting.

  • That's just bizarre.  I worked at a veterinary hospital and no solicitation of any kind was allowed in the lobby- they didn't even want business cards from pet sitters and the like put up because they didn't want the hospital to be responsible for vouching for those businesses.

The vet where I currently take my dogs does have a fundraising jar for one of the nurses to attend veterinary school.  I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

  • Ugh, this is gross to me, too. There really is NO way to justify this shit.

I've just about had it with this gofundme nonsense. I recently sent a Facebook message to a girl I know who just finished her sophomore year in college and posted a gofundme link for anyone with "spare change who's willing to help out her parents as they struggle to help her achieve her dream of becoming a surgical oncologist." I told her that it looks very bad to be soliciting money from people publicly, everybody knows college is expensive but she shouldn't be asking hundreds of people to help finance her education, and that she could help her parents out by taking out more loans or NOT spending her extra money on concert tickets, beer, shopping, etc. I reminded her that I put myself through college and would be more than happy to help her figure it out. All she said was "Ok, thanks for the advice!" before unfollowing me on Twitter (didn't unfriend me on Facebook).

This girl was my "little sister" in a program we did together, so I felt some sort of duty to let her know that this wasn't the right way to go about things. I'm sure she's ticked off at me because, in the moment, she probably thought this would be a great idea... but allowing any friend of mine to go about assuming they're entitled to the things they want without putting in the effort on their own is not something I'm prepared to do.
  • That's disgusting.

Ew.  When I graduate, I will be able to work in a veterinary office and the fact that one would allow blatant solicitation from it's customers (for a freaking wedding!) just pisses me off.  No, I will not donate to your bullshit "charity".  Make your own damn money and pay for it or just lower your expectations.  People that come into vet hospitals sometimes have a pet with health issues and are spending ridiculous amounts of money to help them, or sometimes putting them down so that they don't have to suffer any longer.  A person with a sick or dying family member (I consider my cats to be my babies) should not have to have this shit shoved in their face while they are there.
