  Congrats!! New Years day was my 6 year sober! My brother was actually the addict (to a host of things) and I was a social/ college drinker but I didn't have a problem. When he decided to quit everything in his life cold turkey, I supported him by quitting as well. He has relapsed a few times during a tough divorce but he's been on the straight for 2 years now and I stayed sober the entire time. Once I went without, I just felt like it wasn't something I ever needed in my life again.

  @jenna8984 good for you and your brother. It is hard not to cave in to the cravings sometimes. I'm sure it was really hard for your brother especially going through something as stressful as a divorce. Honestly the only thing that kept me from relapsing a few times is that I didn't want to go through withdrawal again.
