Attack of the ginormous centerpiece!

So we are doing a buffet and are having 8' long tables. I am working with a guy who makes custom planter boxes. Right now we are thinking 5'x4"x4" boxes that will be filled with succulents. Is this too much? Should I have them shortened to 3 or 4 feet? Just afraid it will look really skinny and weird.

Re: Attack of the ginormous centerpiece!

  • Are you doing a table runner underneath?

Probably a full on table cloth, no runner. I had my heart set on farm tables with runners, but I can't justify the expense :( Edit: wow, holy typos, Batman!

It'll probably look great, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I bet, with all the plates and everything around it, it'll be 100% fine!

  • That sounds really interesting and pretty. It's only 4" wide and 4" tall, so it won't be overwhelming. It's essentially just a straight line of small succulents down the middle of the table.
  • It sounds awesome.

  • Can someone do a design for you scaled down to proportion for you to see?

By the way to sounds, it sounds like one huge box is going to take up most of the table. Which I think still will look great! I would not make them smaller for proportions.

I would only make them smaller if you are going to do individual vase pieces down the table every other foot or so.

  • Thanks guys! I think it's going to look awesome, too :)
  • I think it sounds really nice!

  • I think it sounds nice and a good alternative to small planters. I don't know how many times I've seen people move around/knock over small things because they're too spaced out.
  • I think it will look great!
