  • I will save you guys the trouble of reading through to find the coordinator's statement, its pasted below:

n the words of Ms. Kaye: For everyone believing that the baby riding on the back of her mother's wedding train, please take a look at the painting by the great Annie Lee. This action has significant historical value and indicates the dedication of her mother (and father) toward caring for her child and family. We, throughout history have worked hard to do whatever necessary to take care of our own. A GOOD mother takes her child wherever she goes, even down the aisle. Oh, and by the way, the event was the couple's SECOND wedding, not the first. This was simply the culmination of a dream deferred! Find the individuals blowing smoke into the face of an infant or those allowing children to hold weapons, and, let us not forget the child arguing with his mother while calling her by her first name! Most of the comments are from individuals who do not know, nor will ever meet this couple. I happen to know them both. In fact, for the gentleman who believed that the coordinator needs her butt beat, I was the coordinator and I remain intact! The wedding was beautiful, the decorations both beautiful and unique (I did those too). and the entire event and day was flawless! Too bad those with negative comments have so little to do that they indulge in making disparaging comments about people you don't know! Could it be that you have nothing in your lives to occupy your time and space? Taking a picture from a beautiful, God sanctified event and turning it into a media circus is despicable. Why not find another activity to waste your time on? Leave these two alone, and THAT was directly from my heart!

  • I actually heard about this on the radio, but thought the baby was fastened into a sling or something, not on the train of her dress. That part was not clear until I saw the pictures.

I can't decide what's weirder, the act or the defenses they're coming up with.

Covered by Jesus? If you throw your baby out a window, Jesus isn't gonna do shit.

And I still want to know why this is better than carrying the baby. Or at least, like, fasten a sling to your ass so that the baby isn't dragging along the ground. Usually even terrible ideas have some sort of discernible thought process behind them and this one... just... nope.

  • go ahead, carry your baby- IN YOUR ARMS. Or in some other suitable, appropriate carrier. In no way do I judge them for having the baby there- just don't be an idiot.

Ohhhh, so this was their SECOND wedding? Simply the culmination of a dream deferred? PHEW! So that makes it totally okay, then! For a moment there, I thought it was crazy someone would drag their newborn baby down the aisle at the first wedding. Now THAT would be absurd.
A dream deferred...I keep thinking of Raisins in the Sun when I read those words. In comparison to the dreams deferred in that novel, this wedding seems like a very first world problem.

Lol no worries. I just think it is an oddly specific phrase to use in this context. Also on an unrelated note why in the world did this lady plan her wedding for one month after giving birth? That timeline seems intense!

  • You know what I thought when I first read the "covered by the Blood" part? I thought they were gang members and the haters wouldn't get to them because the gang would protect them. Then I read all the Jesus stuff and got really confused. Are they religious gang members? Or just really religious? The mind boggles.

I shared this with DH, who looked at me and said, 'Covered by the Blood...so they threw the Communion wine on the baby?'

    We're Catholic, y'all.

Jesus said that it was ok to toss wine on the baby. It's cool.
  • A GOOD MOTHER BRINGS HER BABY WITH HER EVERYWHERE!  EVERYWHERE.

  • A good mother takes her child everywhere she goes? Seriously? I guess my mom was awful then since she maintained an identity beyond her children.

I admit I pull my kids around my classroom on blankets a lot because they think it's the greatest thing ever, but I'm facing them to make sure they're safe and they're, you know, two. Plus it's a tile floor.

Guess the bouquet was taking up arm space, so mom had to sled dog the infant. Priorities you guys.

The funny thing is I'm Catholic too... but I live in Chicago. Gangs, y'all :)

    SITB

Well yeah, and it's a whole different story when it's a kid that's old enough for some horseplay vs a 1 week old infant.

Frankly, I like to do things on my own. Like take a shit. I like to do that by myself. I'm gonna do that alone even if I have kids. If that's the worst thing they can come up with I did to them when they're in therapy, then I did a good job.

This kid, well, "My mom pinned me to her wedding dress and dragged me down the aisle", that's gonna make for a fun therapy session.
  • I don't think it's that big of a deal, honestly. I thinks its kind of ridiculous, silly and absurd, but I don't think it's dangerous.

The mom is walking very slowly down the aisle. She's not running over stairs or something where the child would get thumped or thrown around. And the child does look like she's secured pretty well.

Silly? Yes. Dangerous and something to get upset over? No.
