Bras

I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that I need to buy a few new bras.  I have like 3 that I will wear regularly and rotate through, it's pretty pathetic.  Who can advise me on good places to shop?  I went into the Victoria's Secret outlet today, and it was awful. . . . neon everywhere and a 12 person line just to try something on (let's not even get started on the line at the register)

So, what are you ladies wearing/buying/loving these days?

Also. . . .I am interested in reasonably priced bras, and if it matters. . . . I was not blessed in the slightest in the boob area, we're talking 34A-wesomness here

Re: Bras

  • I've been wearing clearance Olga ones from Kohl's - they are super-comfy!  I used to like VS bras, but they changed the ones I liked so they don't have the wide padded shoulder straps any more, so meh.

  • I've been in nursing bras for almost 2 years so I'm not sure how much help I can be.  I usually shop in department stores for mine, Macy's, Belk, etc.  I don't do Victoria's Secret.  Too expensive and I'm right there with you on neon.

I always have good luck buying bras at Aerie. I've got small boobs so I don't have to worry about not finding my size. Their bras are always adorable and if you wait for sales, you can get them for like $15 a piece.

ETA - their bras are super comfy as well!

  • The girls section at Target. No seriously, my band size is like barley 30 and they don't make that in adult women sizes. But they carry 30 band size in training bras! So if I do wear them...they're often from there.
  • @MagicInk‌ I thought about the kid section but I would feel silly. Maybe I need to just get over it and try one on.
They do carry 30s at that place I got mine from though. If you want something lacy

The first time I tried on a bra from the kid's section was totally on accident. It was at Mervyn's (I miss Mervyn's!) and it had ended up in the adult section, but I thought it was cute and tried it on and was so excitied it fit me!!! Then I looked at the tag and realized why. But when I can get two bras that fit for $15, I can push past the idea that at 28 I wear bras made for children. Plus I buy other clothes in the kid's section for myself. I do get raised eye brows sometimes when I go to try stuff on if anyone is paying attention. But usually people assume I'm buying for someone else.

But I am gonna check out that site! Because sometimes, a grown up bra is nice.
  • Go to Nordstrom's lingerie department and get fitted first - I found out I was WAY off in my bra size and wow does it make a difference! After that - shop their clearance racks!

Before I put on about 10-15 pounds a couple of years ago, I totally shopped in the kids section at Target. I've gotten a couple really cute dresses and t shirts for a lot cheaper than adult clothing. Granted, I stay away from the stuff that looks super childish but for basics, it was really nice to save the money.

I find a lot of my t-shirts/tank tops there. Like I picked up some Captin America ones over the weekend. It's not super obvious it came from the kid's section. Just a Captain America shirt. Short and jeans I can do, but it's a little harder because I have long legs and a booty. Which most children apparently do not. But if I want a pair of like, carpi pants, they're the perfect place for me to get some.
  • Now I'm all excited to go to Target haha

I usually buy mine online from VS. I get the cotton demi bras, which are usually 2 for $45 or something.

  • I just bought two pair at Soma. That place was awesome, and my boobs feel like they are floating in bliss. So worth the money.

  • I really like the Aerie ones too. They have a few that are just lightly lined (my preference), but the also have some with some major push-up power.
  • I usually get mine from VS but I shop online because I mostly don't like people.

If someone can figure out how to get the damn straps to stay on my shoulders without having to pull them up two hundred times a day, I will be all over that!

  • I get mine from VS. I wear a 32 DD (and sometimes a 30 E) which can be difficult to find. I wear Body by Victoria "Perfect fit" or something. It has a little push up but is literally the most comfortable bra I have ever owend.

  • I don't know how low the sizing goes (I'm a 36C, so luckily easy to shop for) , but I really like bras from Gap. Most have no lace or frills, they have a few different styles in terms of support, push-up etc. but mostly they're basic, comfortable and cute (without being over-the-top). They're also reasonably priced and go on sale pretty regularly.

aerie has some really good sales around August but many sales at other times too.  They have a lot of different styles and I like some better than others.

I like my Target bras a lot too.

  • One Hanes Place! I worked here in high school and will never buy a bra elsewhere. Wonderbras for $16 because they are "last season's color"? Uhhh, YEP.

And they are online now too! http://www.onehanesplace.com/outlet/bras/

I flux between a 32D and 32DD. I get all my bras from Frederick's of Hollywood because they can be super cheap when they're having a sale (I got several for $10 or less) and I like the push-up.

  • I wear Barely There bras, bought from Fred Meyer.  :p  They're pretty inexpensive.  I had a couple bras I liked from VS. It was a two-pack and were the only cheapish bras at VS.  And just about the only non-push up ones. But, the straps were really skinny, and when my boobs got bigger, they didn't offer enough support.
  • @kaos16‌ Aerie/American Eagle!! They are the best! Oftentimes they have sales and they are super comfy and last forever with proper care

  • I have an odd bra size so I shop someplace expensive. So I'm no help in the inexpensive department. I wear a 30D and get my bras from Intimacy. The perk to shopping there is when your bra bands and straps stretch out over time you bring the bra back. Then they'll fix your bra so it's no longer loose.

  • I just got a new one from Soma. Their bras are a little cleavage happy (i.e. my girls are always knocking against each other), but they're cute and they actually have a decent selection in the D/DD range.
  • I get mine from VS ... actually, I haven't bought a new bra in over a year because I'm a little embarrassed by how many I have.
