What do you eat for breakfast?

I'm in a breakfast rut.  Either I don't eat breakfast at all and then I'm really hangry by lunchtime, or I make avocado toast.  Yummy, but it does get monotonous.  I'm not really a fan of cold cereal.

I need ideas.  What's your go-to breakfast?

  • Oatmeal with pb or cashew butter, or an egg salad of hard boiled eggs mixed with half an avocado (2 eggs and a half an avocado is seriously very filling), or a sliced green apple with cinnamon and a tbsp of pb. I am a breakfast nut too!
  • My go to breakfast during the work week is either a small bag of dry cereal and a piece of fruit or a homemade muffin with a piece of fruit or a granola bar thingy.  Pretty much anything that is easy to grab and take to work.

    On the weekend I go crazy and make pancakes and eggs and bacon.  Sometimes I leave out the pancakes and make hash browns and biscuits.  I really love a big breakfast.

    @Maggie0829 You just reminded me I have frozen hash browns from Trader Joe's!  I will have to remember that tomorrow.

  • I make a protien-heavy smoothie with our Magic Bullet every morning. Plain greek yoghurt, a handfull or two of fruit, coconut milk, almond butter and whey protien powder. Avocado toast is yummy!
  • I have to force myself to eat breakfast. Usually it is a banana, or some sort of fruit (apple, grapefruits are my top contenders.) Once in a blue I'll get a Thomas english muffin and half will be PBJ, the other scallion cream cheese. Rarely I'll have a healthy omelette.

    If I am feeling really naughty though, I'll have a torta from the mexican place across the street from my job. I have not had one since last year, but it is AMAZING. And now I am craving one...

  • I have never been hungry in the morning for my whole life. My mom used to make my brother pancakes and stuff before school and I never once ate it. One time when I was about 21 years old and visiting home from college I sat down and had some with them and I was like "Hey this is pretty good mom, what do you call this?" And she was like "french toast....?" Needless to say I'm a dinner steak & potatoes gal so I have never been places like Denny's.

    So yea, I bring a yogurt to work and eat it at EXACTLY 10:15am every day. That's it. lol

  • I bake most weekends so that I have muffins ready to grab during the week, and I'll sometimes boil a few eggs and bring one of those too. I usually have fruit with breakfast as well. If I'm lazy or forget to take muffins out of the freezer I'll just have cereal. Breakfast for me is always something I can grab and eat at work.

  • I usually do fruit. I especially love pomegranates. But recently FI has started making these yummy biscuit sandwiches. It is a slice of turkey or venison sausage on a fresh biscuit topped with avacado andboiled egg. Sometimes he adds a sprinkling of fresh goat cheese. I could eat that brebreakfast every day! Lol
  • Coffee.

    I'm never hungry first thing in the morning, and don't wake up early enough to cook anything anyway. By the time I get to work I'm usually too busy to eat and the coffee tides me over til lunch. Sometimes I'll have an English muffin and peanut butter in the office, but our toaster here sucks now so I haven't been doing that as much anymore.

    I always do eggs over medium on the weekends, usually over toast and avocado, sometimes over potatoes.

    I do keep almonds at my desk to snack on in case of serious hanger. I used to subscribe to Nature Box for snackage, which was AWESOME. But it was one of the many things that got cut from the budget in the name of wedding savings.

  • I rarely eat breakfast during the week. I am lucky enough to have my hair curled and my makeup on every morning as it is.

     

    On the weekends, though, we go crazy. We'll do eggs, bacon, hasbrowns, and sometimes sticky buns depending if we plan on actually leaving the house that day.

  • I'm not a breakfast eater.  Normally it's just a glass of chocolate milk.   Then maybe a banana.

    Sometimes I have Fage yogurt, a hard boiled egg or string cheese around 10 to tie me over until lunch.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated. 
  • I like breakfast foods, but I am too lazy to get up 15 minutes earlier so I can fix something to eat.

    During the week I eat a granola bar when I get to work.  I keep several boxes at my desk...  On the Saturdays I usually eat a bagel and cream cheese or cereal and toast around 10:00.  Sundays I usually don't eat until we get home from church and it is time for lunch.

  • Oatmeal, yogurt or an egg or two. Sometimes I'll eat random leftovers if I don't feel like eating breakfast. I love breakfast food.

    @emmyg65 Don't even JOKE about Wawa.  We no longer live in Wawa territory and my life has a gaping hole.  A hole the size of a pepperoni breakfast hoagie.

    My breakfast routine varies. I tend to eat one thing for awhile and then get tired of it. Some days it's greek yogurt, others it's english muffin with peanut butter, and a lot of the time it's nothing/some kind of coffee.

    I'm not hungry in the morning. I occasionally have a yogurt, fruit, or granola bar mid morning. So I can't help your situation much. However, my younger brother buys turkey bacon and egg-white "Beaters" and makes that every morning. I hate egg white and turkey bacon though. (He does the bacon in the microwave).

    My mom used to "make" me eat some sort of food in the morning so I usually had ice cream. To my defense, most cereals aren't any healthier than ice cream. I also liked cake and brownies...yum. (I guess this explains why I'm not a size 2, lol).

    I do love breakfast for super! Tonight FI and I are doing just that. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes or homemade biscuits...yummm. And fried potatoes, double yum.

  • I have to eat in the morning or I'm starving all day. I would normally eat a bagel or waffles. Right now we're doing a paleo diet so I eat hard boiled eggs and fruit for breakfast.

  • I make steel cut oats in my steamer every morning, and then throw in whatever fresh fruit I have on hand. It's a lot of apples and cinnamon, or mangos and blueberries. My favorite is when peaches are in season. 

    I don't eat it at home, I bring it to work and eat it first thing.

  • I'm not a big breakfast eater. I've been trying to be better about it as I need to lose some weight.

    If I'm being good, it's hard boiled egg whites (yolks are icky) and a piece of fruit. If it's a bad day, it's a granola bar and a piece of fruit. That said, I've gotten pretty good about buying high fiber, low fat and sugar bars. But it's still not ideal.

  • Usually I just have coffee. If I do eat breakfast during the week then I'll typically just grab a granola bar. FI loves to cook breakfast food on weekends (even though we usually don't get up early enough for it to be anything other than brunch). So during the weekends I get pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, bacon... Pretty much whatever FI feels like making in the morning.
  • On a normal day, I have a bowl of Special K or Chex. Right now, i'm eating anything and everything in sight! That includes cookies, leftover mac and cheese, pita chips, or coldstone cake n' shake (my SD works there, so she brings it home for me!)

     







  • I'm not a breakfast eater, never have been. I love breakfast food, just not when I wake up. But after meeting with a nutrionist for a year I have accepted that eating breakfast really is important and healthy. So smoothies. I'm in love with smoothies for breakfast. FI usually makes one for me because she makes her's at the same time. Everything is prepped before hand that can be prepped. All fruit is cut up and frozen in single serve baggies. It takes her like 5 minutes in the morning to make them. I'm in charge of clean up.

    I love breakfast! If I want something quick, I do some variant of oatmeal (I really like to sautee an apple and peach or pear to put in there with some cranberries, honey, and cinnamon).

    A lot of times I make egg sandwiches. Or I make healthy pancakes with a banana, 2 eggs, some flaxseed, and a scoop of protein powder. On the weekend I always make biscuits and gravy, and sometimes pumpkin waffles. 

    I really love pannukakku (it's a Finnish dish) and it's really good with some cherry pie filling on top, but FI doesn't like it. It has a custard-like texture that he loathes but my whole family loves it.

    Two scrambled fake eggs (high cholesterol woot woot), a bowl of low sugar oatmeal and a banana is my go to bfast. If I don't have time, I grab a belvita and a banana but I really prefer to get some protein in the AM.

    True story, I have alarms set on my phone to go off to remind me to eat. I take ADD medication which curbs my appetite. It also makes me hyper focused on whatever it is I'm doing. So I have to set reminders that I need to eat. Sometimes it makes me feel like a small child that needs to be supervised. But so far it's the only thing that works. If I go off my medication, I don't get shit done and my brain is all over the place. I'd rather the phone alarms.

    Fi often will text me around lunchtime to say, Did you eat anything?

    I actually love to eat.  But I get tunnel vision focus when I'm working on something, and I just won't realize I'm hungry.

    Or another favorite thing is: split an avocado in half and then scoop a little extra out  from the pit. Put an egg in each hole. Put some spices on there and bake at 425 for about 15 mins. Sprinkle with cheese.
