alterations on a heavily-beaded dress

I'm starting to panic about alterations on my dress. Because of the beads and details on it, I can't just have it hemmed. It has to be taken up from the waist. Anyone had this done before? Did the dress turn out okay? What did it cost?

    It's not as easy as a hem, but it can be done. Lace gowns lackin hem lace have to have this done too.

    As long as you have a decent seamstress you'll be fine.
