Weekend! (And some AW thrown in)

Hey Ladies! How was everyone's weekend?

We had some friends over Saturday for a puppy play date and cooking out. Once the puppies were good and tired, we all went out. It was the first time BF and I have been out in a long time and it was a lot of fun!

Sunday we prepped, and then went and saw Maleficent! It was AWESOME. (Coming from someone who is Disney Obsessed) We then went home and started to paint the master bedroom. It is not done yet but here are some sneak peaks!

And After (Please excuse the clothes on the bed, LOL I took these in a hurry this morning):

So it's getting there. We are going to have three walls that grey (Valspar- Wet Pavement) and the accent wall is teal-ish (Valspar- La Fonda). The teal wall and one grey are done, the other grey has only one coat so it needs another and the back wall needs two coats. We have to touch up that corner too, there was tape there so that's why there is a huge white looking line on the crease. We're hoping to finish it this week some time. We are also going to re-do all the woodwork in there. It's all crappy and old, so we will be doing all new and white woodwork.

And for good measure here is the pup this weekend enjoying the weather!

@caseface05 we're doing the same thing in our master bedroom. Three walls in a cafe au lait color and one wall a dark purple. Our living room is the color of the grey in your MB so I approve!

Friday night I didn't do much, watched a few episodes of OITNB.

Saturday morning, my MOH and I went out for breakfast. When I got home, FI and I did the grocery shopping then went swimming. We invited some friends over, they brought their Great Dane puppy so Quigley had someone to play with. They were chasing each other through our house, it was hilarious. After our friends left, I passed out at like 8pm.

Sunday I was up early so I watched some more OITNB then FI and I grabbed breakfast and brought Quigley to the dog park. He was pooped after. I did some laundry and watched more OITNB and have one more episode to watch.

So yeah, my weekend consisted of OITNB, thanks Netflix....

ETA: After MOH and I went out to breakfast, she wanted to drive by the venue since she's never been there before. I haven't been to the venue since FI and I looked at it, and when we drove by it, I had all the feels. Like I'm really getting married, holy crap!

  • I love the colors you've picked out!!

This weekend was both fun and productive.  On Friday evening, we went over to a couples' house that we're friends with for a cookout with just the four of us.  It was a lot of fun. We are turkey burgers, yummy sides, and drank beer. Can't get much better.

Saturday afternoon we got all of our invitations and RSVP cards printed off.  We just have to apply the rhinestones to the invitations and address the envelopes. For those that have sent out invitations, did you have issues with sending them through the mail if they were addressed in calligraphy writing? I've heard that sometimes they will come back because they were "ineligible" or because the zipcode wasn't on the same line as the city, state. Anyone run into any issues?

Saturday evening, we saw A Million Ways To Die In The West.  It was hilarious. Definitely not a movie to go see if you're wanting a really deep plot, but definitely good for 2 hours of non-stop laughing. Plus, Charlize Theron is one of my woman crushes :)

Sunday we went to church, may have potentially sold the car that has been plaguing me for 2 years, and got our laundry done.

  • Oooh! I like the blue color you chose. It's so funny, BF and I have had the paint for our master since October. Yeah, we're real good at completing projects… In all seriousness though, we plan to start painting this week!

I'm really bummed the weekend is over. Not that I miss THIS weekend, but just the weekend/days off in general. The girls were total buttheads this weekend, they were supposed to be with their dad, but he bailed. We had planned to go shopping for some clothes (as my birthday present) yesterday, even had my sister all lined up to babysit, but the girls' abhorrent behavior made us cancel plans and stay home. :-/

  • I saw Maleficent this weekend too - I really liked it!  I was afraid it was going to be a little too much like 'Wicked' - but thankfully besides showing the back story they can be looked at as completely separate.

FI and I just really chilled most of the weekend.  He's going out of town this week, so he had to get a few things around his house taken care of.

I was SUPPOSED to go BM dress shopping, but my BM cancelled on me because she was 'sick'.  I really don't think she was sick and just wanted to spend time with her BF (as we were supposed to go out on Sunday afternoon and she cancelled 9AM Saturday).  I'm slightly annoyed because if we have to order something we're behind, and now we're even more behind because I can't really go the next 2 weekends.

  • @Caseface5 -It looks great so far! Your puppy is adorable!!!

This weekend was super busy and I'm so tired today.

Friday after work we went to CrossFit and came home and started doing some unpacking. We woke up early Saturday to go pick up our new bed frame that we absolutely love. H and I were laughing because we were saying we actually have a grown up bed now haha. We put our new duvet on there too so we are really happy with it.

Afterwards we moved in the china cabinet and the kitchen table. Both look great in there except the china cabinet is huge and fills up our living room along with the couches so we will probably move the coffee table upstairs into the office where our love seat is. Saturday night we went to Madison for a friend's wedding shower. We had a great time and it was at their family farm which is gorgeous. We sat on their porch swings and just relaxed.

Sunday we planned to go to church but with the late night drive back from Madison we were exhausted. So we went by my parent's house and picked up my Hope Chest and our book shelf. So we are done with moving until H's step dad drops off H's new desk from SC. After moving we went to Home Depot and Petsmart to buy thousands of things before puppy arrives Thursday afternoon.

That night we played softball and I wasn't as terrible as I thought I would be but I still sucked. We have our first game tonight so I'm interested to see how I do haha.

    I had an okay weekend.

Things were kind of rough through the rest of the week last week. Thursday and Friday, I was completely, utterly wrecked with fatigue. J kept checking on me, like constant, "Are you okay, are you okay?" It was so irritating. I really feel like this week, he just completely forgot I had an infusion and that infusions leave me severely fatigued for days. Combined with the fight, that just made me really cranky. We finally had another talk on Friday, which was still sad and stressful, but left us feeling a bit better. I think he's finally starting to get that yeah, putting off some wedding stuff is not the end of the world, everything will be fine, just calm down.

Saturday, I slept waaaay in because of how tired I was, and then we went to my 5 year reunion events. The alumni association website insisted that attire was "summer cocktail," and said, "Interpret that as you will, but a step up from jeans, please." And lemme tell ya: JUST as rude and unhelpful as wedding dress codes! We had NO idea what to wear! The events were fun (open bar!!) but the trip home took an additional 45 minutes of just waiting and waiting for trains.

Sunday, I went to a minor league baseball game with some friends. It was a lot of fun; it's so much less expensive than going to Red Sox games, and the concessions were surprisingly yummy, too. The visiting team didn't really bring the defense, so it was highly amusing.

However, because of Saturday night's unhelpful dress code, I wore some cute Dolce Vita flip flops (thinking, "My regular flip flops are too casual if jeans are too casual). They tore up my feet so badly that I couldn't sleep Saturday night, and I couldn't put on socks or sneakers Sunday morning. So I put lots of bandaids on and wore my comfy flip flops. Still a mistake--walking home from the bus stop, one of my blisters got so bad, it burst. I spent some time soaking and washing my feet, and I bandaged them up last night and this morning. We have no antibiotic ointment in the house, so hopefully not having some till tonight won't be too much of a delay.

    Poor feetsies.

  • My weekend consisted of the barn, going to a rodeo and FI's cousin's college graduation party.

The rodeo was actually amazing. Our barn owner was riding a bull for the first time in two years, his wife was running barrels and their 7-year-old daughter was mutton bustin' AKA trying to stay on a sheep.

I also forgot to add! We found FI's outfit for the wedding this weekend! It was super annoying because neither of us really knew what we wanted. I just wanted him to look nice and have the formality match the wedding, my dress, and the BM's dresses, and FI could care less. We eventually decided on this:

    image

FI will wear a white shirt and an ivory vest and tie. The groomsmen will wear a white shirt, and charcoal vest and tie.

  • It looks really good! I think the colors will compliment each other well. :)

This weekend was kinda blah. I was sick Friday and Saturday, so we laid around the house and watched That 70's Show on Netflix and then Saving Mr. Banks and An American Tale (yay for Fievel! sp?). My computer has been acting up, so Saturday BF took everything apart, wiped hard drives, and then rebuilt it. Yay for dating an engineer! Sunday BF took me to Denny's where I feasted on their cinnamon pancakes (they seriously tasted like giant cinnamon rolls. Worth every calorie!), and then we ran errands. Sunday night we ordered Thai food and went to our friends' apartment to watch Game of Thrones.

  • I'm not ready for it to be Monday.... Especially since tomorrow we have a visit from the Florida group VP, who is a putzy douche. Everyone is on edge, and I'm just like, whatever.

Friday night a bunch of us from work went out after work for beers. Then c went out with a friend and I took the opportunity to go out with my sister. First time being able to legally drink with her!!! It was a lot of fun. She's been having depression and bi-polar and anxiety issues, so it was nice to be able to get her to open up and relax a bit.

Saturday was errands with C and then we met up with bossman for drinks and the UFC fight which was disappointing.

Sunday was errands, grocery shopping, laundry. All the blah stuff. Season finale of Turn.... God is it time for Walking Dead to come back?? All my shows are going on hiatus and it sucks!!!!! Where is Sleepy Hollow?!?!?

I did make yummy key west pork chops last night though.... So easy and delicious!!

@caseface55 and @LaPeanut1018 Love all of the painting, your colours look great. FI and I need to discuss when we're buying a house, and you ladies are making me excited to move away from rental apartment white!

This weekend was busy, but good. Ran a couple errands Friday afternoon and did a bunch of cleaning at my apartment, and just relaxed a bit.

Saturday FI went golfing in the morning and I was super lazy and sat on his parents deck and did my nails and read a wedding magazine...awesome morning in my opinion! Then Saturday afternoon we went with our moms to see another potential wedding venue, which we loved, and have now booked! Then FI and I ran a couple of other errands, and babysat his nephew for a couple hours. Once we was in bed we watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which I LOVED! I crashed pretty much as soon as the movie was done lol

Yesterday we had church in the morning and then went straight out to my friends' son's christening. The service was really nice, although they were christening NINE babies all at once! Is this a normal Catholic thing? In any case there were a lot of tiny white outfits and they were all champs. Unfortunately one of my "BFFs" was being a giant C U Next Tuesday afterwards, and I left my friends' place incredibly upset. I actually bailed on evening church and stayed home and  was sad and watched a movie. Crappy end to an otherwise awesome weekend.

@IrishDreamer - UGH! When I worked for a homebuilder, the office would go into such a frenzy any time the big wigs were in town. It used to drive me NUTS! I'm like "Dude, I'm doing my job to the best of my ability, above and beyond what is required. I'm not going to get all tense just because some guy with a C-Title is coming into town."

Also, Sleepy Hollow is the shiz and I cannot wait for it to return. I'm hoping the lack of summer programming means I'll be more productive on week nights!

@Phira I'm sorry about your feet, that sounds incredibly painful.

My weekend was quite dull, I watched OINTB like I had planned, I took my daughter to the park for a picnic yesterday and that was a lot of fun.  Otherwise it was a lot of laziness and lounging around.  I did apply for a few more jobs, this is getting ridiculous... I have about 9 weeks left of living in my savings account and I REALLY don't want to clear it out especially since we have a wedding to pay for.

  • @peaseblossom55 5 days!!!

    Everyone's painting looks awesome!

Friday night gaming got canceled, so we worked around the house. Saturday my mom and I went dress shopping, which in my opinion was kind of a waste of time. I didn't see anything I was truly in love with, and the shop had almost no short dresses. My mom's hat won't work, so there goes an easy "something old." But I did find a couple possibilities - model photos only because the shop allowed no cameras:

    image

    image
    - to be hemmed somewhere past my knees, remove the belt, and ivory lace over ivory

My dad and FI worked on the house while my mom and I were out.

Yesterday FI and I kind of took the day off moving. FI did some cleaning and unpacking of his own stuff, but we both needed a break.

And our reception venue really isn't going to work. I wanted it to so badly. But the restaurant has been redivided upstairs, and our guests would be in two separate rooms, and obviously in two separate rooms. So now we have to redo the reception, I wanted a restaurant, I wanted simple, and I'm really frustrated now.
  • @KeptInStitches I'm sorry the venue isn't going to work out and that dress shopping was a bust. That's weird that they don't allow cameras too... hopefully it all comes together soon for you. I really like the first dress you posted!

@PeaseBlossom55 So glad your bachelorette was great! I remember you were worried it would fall through again, so that's great that it went off without a hitch!

@lmcooper86 UGH sorry your BFF ruined what was an awesome weekend. :(

@Dignity100 Hopefully your BM dress situation doesn't end up being super stressful. PS: Love the new countdown! A Disney wedding sounds amazing!

@phira Your poor feetsies :( I'm sorry things have been so strained for you lately. Here's to hoping for a better week!

@KeptInStitches I'm sorry your venue isn't going to work out! Are there other decent restaurants in your area that have a private room/loft area available? Also, I LOVE the first dress you posted! Some, but not all of the salons I visited didn't allow pictures either. They just don't want you taking the photo and going online to have a cheap knockoff made basically. I think it's a dumb policy but it's their business, their prerogative.

@weewittlewizabeth @BreMR Thanks! I know, it's been a really rough week. Fortunately, my feet are feeling much better today, got therapy scheduled for Wednesday and couple's therapy on Thursday (YAY), and J has been very sweet and affectionate. I'm feeling pretty hopeful.

@KeptInStitches I love the second dress. I wonder how it'll look with the ivory overlay. A friend of mine had a prom dress with a lace overlay hemmed from floor length to knee length years ago and she said it was really affordable. I kind of assume it's not much more difficult than shortening by a few inches, but I wouldn't know. Are you going to be able to try on the dresses you posted last week?

@BreMR - Sending good vibes for you and the job search. I'm sorry it's been so tough :( Have you looked into temp work at all? I know it's not ideal, but maybe to tide you over for a little while?

@KeptInStitches - That really sucks about your venue, I'm sorry to hear that. I think someone else asked this, but are there any other restaurants in the area with private dining rooms? Or maybe a supper club that would let you rent out a room for your reception?

@weewittlewizabeth - Thanks. Her attitude was really surprising and very upsetting. She sent me a text last night that I haven't even looked at. I just don't want to get into it today, I don't have the energy or the patience for it lol

Also wwwwhhhhhhhyyyyy does summer tv suck so bad!!! I need something!! Otherwise the boys take up the tv with video games!
  • Thanks, @twodimes, @weewittlewizabeth, @peaseblossom55, @lapeanut1018, @phira, @lmcooper86. Not much else available in my area that I can tell. I'll have to get an actual venue with catered food. The restaurant does work with a golf course in the area, so I like that as an option. I turned it over to FI to figure out, though, because I have visitors to my research group all week and really don't have time to sort it out. I probably will not be able to try on the dresses I posted last week because I have to buy them for the shop to order them in. Frustrated, party of 1.

@lmcooper86 I have thought of the temp work, but my only hold up with that is my daughter's care.  It would have to be something that would justify putting her in daycare, also with the center she use to go to they're really strict about set days and if you don't have your kids there you still pay.

I applied for an amazing job yesterday that fits everything I want to a T, this is about the third time this has happened so I'm not getting my hopes too far up, but they're a little up!

  • @caseface5, love the color you chose!

@severmilli12, I want to see One Million Ways to Die in the West soooooo bad! Glad to hear it was funny. I also want to see The Fault in our Stars, but I don't know anyone else who's read the book. Maybe I'll take myself on a date on go see it anyway. :)

@KeptInStitches, you have the best taste in dresses! For serious - I don't think I got to comment on your other thread, but I pretty much love all the ones you have picked out. Can't wait to see your final choice! I'm sorry your venue didn't work out, but hopefully the golf course they work with will be a good compromise.

    ***

This weekend was literally exhausting. I don't think I've ever gotten so little sleep in my life.

Friday - I had clinical from 7 to 5. It was a hard day since I'm still adjusting to being back in the hospital (my last rotation was in Psych, which was very different from this unit), but it was a good day and I'm getting more comfortable and confident. It was a lot of running around, though, and my group reviewed some for today's exam after we finished for the day. That evening, a friend of mine and I walked around the lake (we have been going running a lot, but I was NOT up for that on Friday). Came home, studied, went to bed like midnight.

Saturday - Worked 7 to 3. We had sooooo many disasters, and I also found out that my boss really messed up my summer schedule. She took me off for the shifts we had agreed upon before, and she offered me a whole bunch of shifts she KNOWS I can't do in their place. I am very annoyed, and she and I are going to talk about that soon.

After work, I went home and studied for a while, then C and I got together for dinner. Afterward we went up to a park near the airport to watch the planes take off for a while. We also took a walk that ended up being quite lengthy because we got lost somewhere in there, haha.

It's been fun to see him again, and really encouraging. He has taken a lot of what I had to say about our relationship to heart, and during the time we spent away from each other, he has actually been working on a lot of stuff on his own, and I can see a lot of improvement in the way he has been with me, our friends, etc. Not gonna lie, it's also been weird, because there are still feelings there on both sides, but we are on the same page about how to handle things for a while. I want to graduate, get a job, move out, and take care of me for a while; we both still have things we want to fix that we learned during our relationship/break-up; and we agreed that we need to try dating other people instead of just getting back together because it's comfortable and easy. He met a nice woman at work he was telling me a little about, and it was sooooo weird to be happy for him and give him girl advice, but also feel that little stab of, "But...but...!" I dunno, we'll see what happens from here. But in any case, I'm so glad we have our friendship back.

Anywho, we talked for a looooooooong time,  and I didn't get home until like 2 am. Oops. I forgot how much we chatter together. >_<

Sunday - Went to work at 7. Disasters ensued, which were not exactly helped by the fact that I was running on three hours of sleep. Won't be doing that again. But I got through it, came home, took a long-ass nap, then woke up and studied for a while.

My exam this morning went OK (low B). I KNEW everything I needed to know going into it, but...NCLEX-style questions. They are frustrating. I have a decent cushion for the rest of the semester, but not as much as I'd like. Aaaaaaaaaaaand that's my saga.

@CLoGreenEyes That is a super exhausting weekend!! I'm glad things are going well spending time with C, and I think it's really wise to have a timeline of things that have to happen before you could consider getting back together (since it'll definitely prevent you from falling back together because it's easy, and it'll give you both time to date other people). It sounds like he's doing well and making a lot of improvements.
