Last night FI & I started reading through sample ceremony readings aloud, from the gathering words to our vows and everything in between. (Side note: every time it was my turn to read I got all choked up --- I don't stand a damn chance during the actual ceremony.) We're writing our own ceremony from start to end, so our plan is to sort through sample readings and take parts we like (as well as things we think of & want to include) and construct something that works for us.
Quite a few of the samples contained the word lover. I'm sorry, but I cannot take this word seriously. For some reason I associate it with affairs, so it seems negative to me. Secondly, I just kind of get the giggles when I hear it: "Lover." I get a serious Spice Girls flashback. We both wholeheartedly agreed this word will not be part of our wedding.
Anyone else, or just me?
