TONS of posts from yesterday and today! So fun catching up on everyone's WR updates: venues and dresses and more, oh my!

I don't THINK i'm seeing a weekend update post...so I'm starting one here. Tell me what you've all been up to. How was your weekend? Any fun stories? I really don't want to be at work this morning, so please distract me!

Re: Weekend Update

  • FI and I got more furniture on Sunday! The coolest coffee table I've ever seen (lift-top lifts with 2 fingers), a kitchen table and 6 cushioned rolling chairs, and a day bed with trundle. FI has left a lot of half-finished projects around the house (they're like freaking bread crumbs), so I'm going to make him finish some things this week before his grandparents come up next weekend. In the meantime, I'm going to clean, organize, and unpack some more boxes.

What did you do this weekend, @allusive007?
  • Hi, @allusive007! What did YOU do this weekend??

My weekend was excellent. Friday was an exhausting clinical day, so I just came home, watched some TV, and went to bed early.

Saturday I worked for the first half of the day, and that was unremarkable. C and I grabbed dinner, and then I went to see The Fault In Our Stars. It was sad and touching, but didn't hit me quite the way I thought it would. Still a good one to see, though.

Sunday I slept in until 10!!!!!!! Best. morning. ever! Then a friend and I got together for brunch, chatted it up, and went for a walk to work off all the bacon. My turn signal and taillight both stopped working late last week, so I replaced them and cleaned out my car. I have seats now, guys! Like that you can actually sit on! (They had been MIA for a while underneath all the books, scrubs, and practice supplies.) Then I finally got to work on studying...and fell asleep halfway through with my books and notes still on my lap.

I was really concerned about my test this morning, but I actually got a high B. I did better on this one that I studied three hours for than the first exam. Weird the way that works. But I'm definitely not complaining.
  • @keptinstiches new furniture is always fun! We're getting a custom sectional next year and it's like the highlight of 2015 so far.

Friday I had the day from hell at work! I was so glad to leave at 4:30. After I left work I drove up to my parent's house in NY and drank beer until the memory of work went away.

Saturday my mom and I went to look for her MOB dress. The first place we went to had a lot of off the rack dresses and she found a couple that she liked but wanted to go to the other two bridal salons in her area to see what was out there.

The next place we went to was HORRIBLE. Besides a BM getting a fitting in, we were the only customers and there were three associates. My mom found a dress that she liked, but was too small and no one came over to let us know if the dresses were custom-ordered, off the rack, different colors, etc. So my mom was like "fuck this, we're leaving" and we went to go get lunch. The positive side of that place is that they had my weding dress with the glitter skirt so my mom got to see that. Only then were the salespeople helpful, my mom was like "yeah, no thanks". We got lunch and went to the second place where their MOB dresses were more for MOB's in their 30's or 40's. My mom wanted traditional.

We went back to the final place and she picked her dress. Also she was about $400 under budget too which she was thrilled about. I wanted to pay for her dress, but she wouldn't let me :(

Sunday I left NY early and headed back home. When I got home, FI had a big drink ready for me so I put on my suit and hung out in the pool with him and my drink for a couple of hours. After that we had an early dinner and catched up on TV.

    It was a great weekend!

  • FI and I had a pretty good weekend!! I had an interview on Friday which went really well so hopefully I will hear something back. Shortly after I got home from it, FI and I went on a date :)  We went to a movie theater that serves you dinner and drinks at your seat, which was a lot of fun. We saw Maleficent and it was okay. Not a lot of acting, just a ton of CG stuff. It was entertaining, although I probably won't watch it again.

On Saturday we did a lot of running around. We ran a few errands, then looked at 2 townhomes to rent. We stopped by Buy Buy Baby to get our friends a baby shower gift.  At 6 that evening we went to the baby shower BBQ and had a good time.  We were there most of the evening hanging out outside and talking to our friends.

On Sunday we got up early and went grocery shopping.  Then FI and I had a nice little picnic at a park and went fishing afterwards.  We got super burnt but had a good time. I caught 2 fish and he caught one. That evening we headed to a local bar with another couple we are friends with to watch the World Cup game and drink beer.

  • @KeptIn Stitches - yay for new furniture!

@CLoGreenEyes - I've been wanting to see The Fault In Our Stars. Maybe i'll see if a couple girlfriends want to go soon. Awesome job on your test!

@Severmilli12 - Good luck with the job. I always hate waiting to hear back after an interview. Hopefully they won't keep you waiting too long!

  • This weekend was great since we hardly had anything planned.

Friday after I got off work, H and I went to CrossFit. He planned a date night for us that night so after CrossFit he took me to this restaurant called SIP and they serve tapas and wine recommendations with them. Soooo yummy! I think my favorite was this Mozzarella with fig jam on a crostini with Cab red wine. We came home to Maddux who had pooped in his crate yet again. This is something that we need to desperately work with him on. We watched movies and ate popcorn the rest of the night.

Saturday morning I went to CrossFit and on my way I popped my tire. H brought Maddux with him so maddux got to hang out with me at CrossFit and get loved on while H fixed my tire lol. Afterwards we went home and did some cleaning, yard work, and we hung up a bunch of pictures. That night we went to @LaPeanut1018's house for dinner. Maddux met Cinders and he LOVED HER!!!! They played and sniffed and played and sniffed. Cinders is a slut and basically straddled Maddux's head in which case caused him to air hump lol. Funniest thing I think I've ever seen. He was doing it the whole night.

Sunday morning we slept in and did more yard work and hanging up pictures. H and I decided to go to the pool that day and lay out. Maddux successfully did not poop in his crate while we were gone. I was very impressed. After the pool I made sweet potato chip nachos which were amazing! I thought they would be gross but we loved them. We got frozen yogurt after dinner and watched the soccer game and True Blood.
  • Happy Anniversary, @allusive007!! I'm glad you had a wonderful celebratory weekend :)

I already updated with my weekend activities, which I'm still smiling about :)

  • @allusive007- I absolutely love your gift to your H. It's so sentimental and loving! It sounds like y'all had a great first anniversary.
  • My weekend wasn't too exciting. BF and I hung out with some friends on Saturday night but we spent most of the weekend just hanging out.

We did have a funny conversation last night. I asked BF if he had finished saving up for the ring (we were discussing finances) and he said he had. So I jokingly asked what the hold up was. Well apparently a couple weeks ago I commented that some ring was really pretty and it wasn't similar to what I had shown him before so now he's second guessing the one he picked out! *facepalm* I assured him I would love anything he picked out and I'm sure he didn't need to worry.

  • I finally had a somewhat relaxed weekend!

Friday night FI and I went to an event at the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum, in Toronto). They do this thing for a few weeks at a time where on Friday nights they have live bands and bars and catering from food trucks, and it's 19+ so no children. We went with a few of my friends, so it was great fun.

Saturday morning FI went golfing and I made muffins and hung out with his mom. Then he took me out to see his current job site which SOUNDS boring, but now I actually have an idea what's referring to when he talks about work. We swung by his friends' place and went and grabbed a drink with them on a patio since the weather was so nice (finally!). And to cap it all off we had a date night; we just grabbed dinner and went to see 22 Jump Street (where I died laughing).

Sunday was church, bit of down time, and then his church's picnic. So I got to spend another nice afternoon outside! I was tired by the time we got home, but it was a really nice weekend.

  • @GoldenPenguine - I'm so glad you found a venue you are absolutely in love with! I love the way you described getting goose bumps. That's exactly how I felt about our venue. Can't wait to hear when you get a date!!!

Thanks @SouthernPeach89! We've had a tough year and I thought it would be a nice reminder of what we'd promised each other. H seemed to really like it too! (He's a pretty sentimental guy - and he MAY have had more wine than me...because I am a total lightweight!)

  • @KeptInStitches - Nice furniture score! I cannot wait for FI and I get to a place so we can buy a new sofa and throw away my craptastic one!

@CLoGreenEyes - I'm glad you got to relax this weekend! You're so close to being done :)

@allusive007 - Glad you guys had a great anniversary :) I love your anniversary gift to your H. That's so sweet and makes the paper year way more fun and creative. I may keep something like that in mind for my first anniversary with FI

  • Wow, everyone had great weekends. Happy anniversary, @allusive007! What a sweet gift, and it sounds like a wonderful date night. :)@KeptInStitches yay for new furniture! Lift-top coffee tables are the bees knees. We've been looking for one for a while now, but they're so expensive/hard to find. Sounds like you got a snazzy one! @CLoGreenEyes Glad you did well on your test! So close to being done! @buddysmom80 You know, I've never understood retail stores that weren't friendly and accommodating. I mean, do they not want money? It makes no sense to me. I'm glad your mom was able to find a dress though. :)@bethsmiles LOL I think that's why FI used my mom's ring. I kept sending him too many different styles of rings, and he didn't believe me when I told him I like all things sparkly. But how exciting that he's got something picked out! Sounds like it's coming soon! @southernpeach89 sweet potato chip nachos? Recipe? That sounds delicious!

My weekend was pretty uneventful. ;-)

Remind me next year not to do a joint birthday party again though, or at least just stick to evening events. The all-day affair was fun but exhausting. And N, the other birthday girl, was...I dunno. Interesting. She was an hour late to brunch due to a "hair snafu," she passed out in the middle of my living room floor after the brewery tour and refused to wake up until about 30 minutes before dinner... and then she insisted on opening her presents right then and there. After she opened her presents, she said she and her girlfriend needed to go back to their place before dinner to grab something, so they were late to dinner too. N made the dinner plans and reservations, so when I got there and told the hostess who we were, she hostess said she had to get the manager... turns out N never called to give the final headcount of 23, so they didn't think we were coming. Awesome. And since she wasn't there at the time, I had to deal with the wrath of the grumpy manager and coordinate with the lone waiter who would be taking care of us. They had to do two separate tables, so it was kind of a bummer that we couldn't interact with everyone. When N finally arrived she swore that she'd called the manager, but I told her to deal with it at that point. After FI proposed, I was on cloud 9, so nothing bothered me anymore. hahaha. After he proposed, N kept coming up to me and saying, "oh my gosh! I cried more than you did!" That's nice?

Anywho, Sunday we went to lunch with both our families. Apparently FI gave his parents the impression he was going to propose at lunch on Sunday, so they made his little brother drive an hour to the restaurant. I felt a little guilty, but it was still really nice to celebrate with everyone. After lunch we went and saw How to Train Your Dragon 2, which was fantastic! Such a great movie. After that we were lazy and sat on the couch all night. :) Definitely a great weekend.

  • We got lucky - the furniture was stuff from my family, but no one was using it, so it comes my way now. The buildings on the familiy farm are half furniture storage, I tell you. Needs cleaning, but it's all serviceable. I think.
  • weewittlewizabeth -Here is the recipe:

I cooked the sweet potato chips for about 20-25 minutes. That's when they started to get crispy and just make sure to keep an eye on it because they burn easily.
  • My weekend was great.  DH and I flew to NY for a wedding on Saturday.

We arrived early on Friday morning.  My mom picked us up from the airport and we stayed with her.  When we arrived, we went out for breakfast.  It was NOM.  Then we went and got pedicures.  DH got a manicure (his first ever!) and a massage.  Then we did some shopping, hung out, and made dinner at my mom's.  Then we went to a nearby casino and won $100.

Saturday, DH and I had breakfast with my mom and then went to the wedding.  It was an Armenian wedding and the entire ceremony was in Armenian.  It was super fun though, and the bishop dude had this bad-ass cape with more bling than Beyonce.  The food was great and we got to catch up with our besties from college.

Sunday, I had breakfast with BFF and her FI, whom I met for the first time that day.  (He was in the army and had been deployed, so I'd never met him.)  I LOVE him.  He's super nice, very funny, and they work REALLY well together.  I couldn't be happier for her.  We then flew home, my brother stopped over with some relationship drama (sigh!), and we played with the cats and got takeout.

    It was an AWESOME weekend.
  • Saturday FI had to work.  I cleaned up around the house a little bit.  Did some 'wedding lurking' - trying to decide if I want invites or not and looking at accessories and such.  When FI got out of work, we went to dinner and then he just wanted to relax, so we went home and watched some TV.

Sunday FI wanted to sleep in, so I got up early, made myself breakfast and just chilled with the dogs.  We had to go to Sam's Club for a few things and then we went to Target.  We watched Gravity when we got home and took the pups for a walk.  FI left earlier because he was tired and I walked for 25 minutes on the treadmill before deciding it was way too hot upstairs for that.

This morning I walked just over 40 minutes on the treadmill and did just under 2.5 miles - so yay me!  I need to get in shape.  I have 41 days to get my butt back on the bike and all trained up.  I signed up for 75-miles for Bike MS; Pedal to the Point, I need to START training for it (and finish raising funds for it).

  • I've updated you guys on my weekend as well-- we moved and we've been settling in and unpacking. Today the cable guy came and we have tv along with our internet (which we got over the weekend.) We also did a bunch of shopping for groceries and a new garbage can to fit better in the new kitchen, and a bunch of other things to personalize the new place. I'm in love with the garbage can. It was so expensive, but it's so pretty and and has little flaps that don't make noise when they close. And it actually fits in it's new place as opposed to our old, sad plastic garbage can which was super awkward in this apartment.

It's so strange how much new stuff you need to (well, mostly want to?) buy each time you move. Like, our curtains. Now our curtains are all too short, so we're off to IKEA today to get some new ones!

It amazed me how excited I was to buy things like garbage cans, dish drainers, bathroom stuffs, etc. when we moved. It made me feel so grown up & responsible, haha!

  • OH! I forgot to add! I got "and Guest"d this weekend!

FI's cousin is getting married later this summer. Cousin and his FI have met me. How hard is it to pick up the phone and ask if I'm still in the picture? I filled in the response card and wrote out FI's full name and my full name...let's see if I get "Guest"d on the escort cards too!

To be fair...this girl had some "we have a house and stuff, we want money" poem nonsense on her bridal shower invitations, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised...

  • @Goldenpenguin Exactly! Though, it irks me a little that we did the same thing at the old place, so I thought we already bought everything we needed! Oh well, more fun shopping!
  • @ImCooper86 - everybody knows that since it was in a poem form it is ok and forgivable!!!  <<Just Kidding of course>>.  FI's friend that got married put our name card as 'The Future Mr. and Mrs. FI'sLastName' which was cute.

  • It sounds like everyone had a great weekend!

My weekend was relatively boring. Friday night I went out  to dinner with BF and my two best friends to celebrate my 21st birthday (2 weeks late, but better late than never!). We all had a great time and the food was fantastic! After the dinner, one of my friends had to leave, but the other hung out with us. We went to a sex shop and looked around for fun and then went and got milkshakes. So no crazy drunkenness for me, as I have found that I don't like the taste of alcohol and seem to be able to taste it in anything.

My Saturday and Sunday were filled with family stuff like yard work and helping my brother find stuff for his new house. I wish my parents would talk about something else though, because I can tell my brother is wearing down from it and just wants all talk about possible renovations and whatnot to stop.

weewittlewizabeth - I saw How to Train Your Dragon 2 last weekend! Did you cry? Because I totally bawled and tried to hide it from my friend and did a horrible job at it. It was great even with that though. I loved the song Hiccup's parents sang together. It was so cute!

  • @FoxandBunny I bawled like a baby. I'd heard it was sad, so I figured something like that would happen... but omg. I didn't expect it to happen like that! Did you know the studio has already set a release date for the third one?

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • caseface5 - Yep, we did. BF and I had promised to go to a sex shop with my friend before, and it just seemed like the perfect time to do it. The milkshakes were unplanned until on the way home when I was craving a milkshake so we stopped and got some.

@weewittlewizabeth- I hadn't even heard it was sad so it was a huge shock for me. I totally wasn't expecting it. I was like, this can't be happening. Then it became clear that it was happening and I started crying. I didn't know they had already set a release date for the third one, but that makes me happy! I bet it's going to be about finding another nightfury. It better be about finding another one!
