Outdoor Venue: by the water but not sand; elegant, not casual

Hi Knotties,

Any help with a venue along these lines in South Fl? (Keys, Miami, Broward, or Boca). My fiance and i really don't want to be in an enclosed ballroom and would love to have our wedding (both ceremony and reception) outside. Reception ideally tented, but we don't want a "beach wedding" so not on the sand. Please help! South Fl is filled with so many ballrooms and hotels and we are having trouble finding our ideal place. Thanks!

  • The Bahia Mar is a hotel in Fort Lauderdale that has a beautiful ballroom and an outside option that is not on the beach.  To be honest, as a hotel, from the outside, not so beautiful, but inside is very nice and the food is wonderful.  There is also a gorgeous Embassy Suites on 17th Street with a beautiful atrium with waterfalls and, also a great outdoor option with pretty foliage, but not on the water.  The most beautiful hotel of all, but a real budget blower, is the Biltmore in Coral Gables.  It is one of the  treasures of S. Florida and they do a wedding like none other, with some of the most beautiful outdoor options in the state (jmo). Back to Fort Lauderdale, price wise between Bahia Mar and The Biltmore is the Mariott Harbor Beach.  Their outdoor weddings are lovely and the food has always been very good.
  • Deering Estate, Thalatta Estate, and Vizcaya are all on the water but not the beach (they are all on the bay)
  • @AngelinaGirl - All beautiful options.  Well done.
  • Check out Ronald Shane Center in miami beach, fl.

You can have your ceremony on the terrace and the reception indoors with the view of the bay/sunset.
