Christmas 2015 wedding attire.

I am getting married on 12/19/15 and I have been trying to figure out what type of dress would be best for the time of year we are doing this. We live in TX so we don't exactly have "cold" weather so a long-sleeved dress with heavy fabric would be a no-go. I am clueless and would love any type of input you have or suggestions. I am very short (4'11) and petite (size 2-4 depending) so I don't want anything that would overwhelm me. The guys are all wearing charcoal grey suits with bow-ties and red shirts.

  • I think you should just go to a store and try on dresses when you're ready to buy.  Many times people have something in mind that they want and the silhouette does not work for them (example: Person wants a mermaid but an A-line looks way better on them).

  • Your dress doesn't necessarily have to fit any criteria to be consider a winter wedding dress. I'm getting married on 12/27/14 and my dress is Mori Lee 1854.

I live in NC so there's a chance it could snow and be 15 degrees outside or it could be sunny and 60 degrees. I'm getting married in a church so the lace and beading dresses this gown up to seem a little more fancy.

Your dress will often not be anything you envision. You can buy a dress around your theme or venue, or decorate to go with your dress. I think whatever you like will be fine and can be accessorized to fit the venue and season you want.

IMO, you should get whatever kind of dress you love.  That said, I think a lace dress with a little bit of a sleeve would be really nice for a winter/Christmas wedding.  Examples: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=4MW836&page=0&pageSize=36&keywordText=&keywordType=All

  • Once you have your venue picked out (if you don't already) then go shopping & pick out something that you love. The reason I say wait until you pick the venue is because that may help set the style for your dress.

I like the dress that @emmaaa posted. Lace and rhinestones sort of say holiday without being over the top. Don't take the day too literally. Find a dress that you like, first and foremost. Most dresses don't have a "season" per say.

  • I'm from Texas originally and have been to a few winter Texas weddings. The bride wore a traditional wedding dress. I got married in Arizona in the winter and just wrote a sleeveless sheath. Most of the wedding and reception were indoors (as I assume yours is), so there was never really a chance to get cold.
