Fix a disgusting pot?

A shot in the dark...

I have a beautiful large Calphalon casserole that I received as a gift years ago. We got a new stove a few months ago and put the old one in the shed. While moving it yesterday we found my pot in there- where it was full of the most horrifying moldy crap ever. Neither of us has ever used it in the oven so out best guess is that FSS hid it there trying to avoid doing dishes. We rarely use it so we never noticed it.

We've scraped it clean, scrubbed it and have boiled water in it for hours. It's still gross.

Any ideas for salvaging my pot?

I'm not gonna lie, I'd probably ground FSS for life.

Is it the nonstick, ceramic, stainless steel, or something else? Nonstick can't handle abrasive cleaning, but other materials are more durable and can take a good scrubbing.

If it can handle mild abrasives, Barkeeper's Friend is amazing. It's a powder you sprinkle on with a little water til it makes a paste, let it sit then scrub it off.

It's the black coated kind- hard anodized aluminum.

FSS will likely be grounded for life but, given that he's with his mom for the weekend, that will wait until tomorrow.

I just tried Barkeepers Friend but had no luck. I'll try bleach when I pick some up tomorrow. I'll pick up cream of tartar tomorrow as well.

I tried calphalon's help line but was told to call back later. I'm guessing I'll spend $$ to get it resurfaced.

Don't use bleach! It'll strip the anodized coating.

Ditto lolo....I use barkeeper's friend on all my calphalon. Of course, mine hasn't been sitting in a shed for months. :P Good luck!

Ditto on the Barkeeper's Friend. I use it on my All-Clad and my LeCreuset.
