Ugh, that stinks! Sorry I have no help as we are under budget. Hopefully you can find a way to pull it together
  • That is part of the reason I decided on Vegas. After I started booking things here in Phoenix, I realized I was WAY over budget! Is there anything you can cut back on? Favors, flowers, decor?

  • Decor at the Primrose Courtyard at Wynn! I know it's pretty without too much, but we fell in love with a picture of it with an arch and lovely flowers so tried to replicate. We're now having prosecco in the courtyard while we have photos taken to make the most of the surroundings/decor so I guess that counts too :-)
Also - night before drinks at the Chandelier bar. Minimum spend is over what we budgeted for that night, but I just love it there!
  • More than likely you won't be spending the drink money the night before. Unless your family and friends have horrible social graces they will be buying their own drinks and yours too. I would maybe rethink or cut back on the decor. Try to think about what you will see in pictures and what you won't. So far my biggest budget issue has been my guest count and cake. I know you are supposed to plan for all the invites but with half being from NJ I figured no way. I was so wrong. Also I wanted to do just lunch and cake with after party in the suite. The restaurant came back with 15 per person. My budget figured 5 so I called freeds and we are having cake in the room for about 7 per person. I'll let you all know how it plays out in 12 days.

We're hosting the drinks the night before so we will be spending the money and we've paid for the decor at wynn now! Glad the $ to £ exchange rate is good at the moment!
Good luck for 12 days time jaime!
  • I haven't really had anything major yet, but I can see it coming.  I want a photo booth so bad! :)

I don't know how her friends would have horrible social grace, because she is paying for an event she is hosting. It would be the opposite, if haw is hosting they usually can assume she would be paying.
  • we aren't having any décor.... just a couple of DIY centrepieces. So no cut backs there... no flowers at the ceremony either! Its already very simple. And no cake.. Im a cake decorator... and hate the stuff! Hahaha... I just don't get it! lol.

We aren't doing drinks or anything the night before. But are hosting a Welcome to Vegas DDB tour for about 20 people. Im super excited about it and have already paid 50% deposit... so cant cancel that. But that's ok... guess we will just have to suck it up!

  • It will all be worth it in the end :)

  • nothing major here, we chose vegas so we wouldn't go over budget
  • Stupid shuttle service.  I've been emailing nonstop the places I've been recommended on this board.  But holy moly, I did not even factor how expensive this would be to have 2 hours before for photos, and take guests to the ceremony, and then drop back off at Cosmo for dinner.

Completely my oversight, I just didn't figure it would be so high.

So...if anyone knows a cheap one...haha hollla my way and help a lady out! :)

We spent 2x our budget on invitations and our square envelopes were 1/8th of inch bigger so we had to pay $1.40 each to mail them out. If I'd known, I would have measured the envelopes prior to ordering them. Oh well, they turned out great and we got a lot of good feedback from our guests. @Bigm1056 - I contacted a ton of limo places and was surprised how expensive the transportation was too! I ended up with Omni Limo 29 pax shuttle bus for $107 per hour (total including tip/fees). We are shuttling family from Bali Hai to Cosmo - about 80 guests so I booked 2 buses and hopefully they will make two trips each. Hope that helps!
  • hahaha! our guests are walking! Flamingo to Planet Hollywood, to Cosmo, and back to PH!

@australiansam  if you have it in your budget, you may want to consider offering part of your events to have travel accomodations.  On the maps it may look close, but the hotels are huge and thats quite a bit of walking to ask of your guest.  If nothing else, prepare you lady guest so they aren't making that trip in heels, OUCH!
  • @AustralianSam...I am buying some flats for people to wear. rescueflats.com

  • No just 2 dresses but I kept buying the wrong dress! :-)

  • I'll turn one into a bachelorette party dress and wear one to a bridal shower. One (really expensive sheath dress) I just don't know what to do with.

  • ive been to vegas a couple of times and its not too far. They have 2 hours to get from Flamingo to Planet Hollywood.... should be ample. But ill look into the flats... that's a cute idea!
  • FI has a no walking rule. He is not allowed to suggest walking as a mode of transportation for anything until after the reception. We have a lot of older heavier folks that wouldn't be able to get from one hotel to the other using the connection. We have plenty of drivers and cabs are always plentiful. I admit I have gone across the street in a cab a couple times. Manly because I was wearing the cutest sitting shoes ever. Lol
