We had a hard time for our song. I think we landed on Brantley Gilbert, Fall Into Me. I don't normally care for him but the lyrics struck a chord with us.

    Eta punctuation.

We are dancing to Etta James. It took FI 12 years to get up the nerve to ask me to marry him. Lol. It just feels so nice that we continue on our journey together, as a married couple... at last. We think our guests would think it is funny and sweet. There were a couple of other contenders, but I just love the Classics.
  • We're using Come Away With Me by Norah Jones.

Easy to Love by Theory of a Deadman
  • Were using either IN My Life by the Beatles or I'll Follow You by Shinedown
  • I think we are using "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw. FI and I have been friends since we were five and that has been our song since we started dating.

I say "think" because originally FI wanted to use a Merle Haggard or Waylon Jennings song because we are huge old school country fans, but nothing has jumped out to us.

And I love "A Thousand Years" and even though it is the Twilight song, we will dance to it at some point.

  • We used "I Was Made for You" by She & Him.

We're pretty sure our first dance will be to, "You Are the Best Thing" by Ray Lamontagne.

  • @sarahufl, what's your preferred style of music? This was a major issue for FI and I. I like a broad spectrum, but he is more of a rock guy (I like rock, but wanted something a little softer for a first dance). He wanted to do "Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, which I wasn't all too thrilled about (even though I do like the song). I offered up so many songs that he didn't like that I hated music in general for awhile lol. In the end we settled on Frank Sinatra since he likes the classiness of that style and I know every Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin song there is to sing. The particular song by Sinatra is "More," I have NO idea why this isn't a more popular first dance song...

Now that we picked it, I told my parents and my dad insists on it being "From This Moment" by Shania Twain...To each his own lol.

I love all the country songs!

@sarahbear31 I LOVE George Strait's "Cross My Heart." FI haven't really talked about it yet, but I think that song is my first choice.
That song has ALWAYS melted my heart.  While we were dating, DH played that song for me (not knowing it was one of my favorites).  At that point, I knew he was a keeper ;)

That song is the only one that FI seems to be excited about. I'm not a big fan. I might suck it up and give in, though I'm still searching for alternatives.

  • @JCBride2015 part of our cake cutting song was Lucky.  It's such a good song.

We chose our first dance song to be All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera, two days before the wedding we tried dancing to it and realized it didn't work.  We changed it to Storybook Love the theme song from the Princess Bride, it worked much better it's one of our favorite movies and it worked with the loose "theme" we had for the wedding.

@Peaseblossom55 we must be musical soul mates because I love all of those songs, too.  I should remember to add All I Ask of You to my love songs playlist.
