First off, Happy Freaking Friday!!!
So my grandma is starting a tradition where she buys a kitchenaid mixer whenever one of her grandchildren gets married. As much as I have objected to such an expensive gift, she has her heart set on it. She absolutely doesn't want to pick it our herself and is insisting that I come with her to Macy's tonight to pick out the exact one that will work for FI and I. We are going to make a night of dinner and shopping out of it.
She has informed me that she isn't sure if she will give this to us as a shower or wedding gift. Soooooo....when do I write the thank you note? I know I am supposed to wait until I receive the gift, but I will be there with her when she purchases it and will help her load it into the car and then take it into her home for her so she can wrap it. I feel guilty not giving her a thank you note right away and don't want her to think I am ungrateful.
Any thoughts on this? Would it be weird to send a TY now and also a TY note for when I receive the actual gift? I was thinking that if I did the second note it would be a "thank you so much for coming to [insert either wedding or shower] and thank you, again, for the amazing mixer.
