If I understand correctly one of the employees said the eviction process was going to be stopped. No need to attend a supposedly cancelled hearing. Although hindsight suggests they should have followed up and gotten written notice the process was stopped. Something I would have demanded, but I guess not everyone thinks that way.

Well, yeah. Sadly some people are more trusting than others or like to keeps their heads in the sand. Which is why they get themselves in these situations.

I check my bank account so often that I would have realized long before 10 days later that a payment didn't go through in the first place.

Because the management company said the case was dismissed and there would be no court date at all.

Yeah this is not the way I would have handled the situation either. They believed the employee when in hindsight they shouldn't have.

Sis went to legal aid and they sent her to a housing court judge. The court said the eviction warrant was a clerical error and the eviction case was, in fact, dismissed. I told her to make sure she has the dismissal paperwork JIC the marshal did not get the memo. What a mess! I think she is still going to talk to legal aid about getting her out of this lease with such an asshole company.

So glad the actual eviction stuff is settled! But yeah, it's time to not be their tenant anymore. Sheesh. Good luck to her.

Holy shit! That's a pretty big fucking error! That's like an "amputated the left leg instead of the right" kind of error. What a shit show.
