Today is good and blah. Work has been crazy! I've been organizing the new workshop and construction team has finally started on the museum! Of course they have been building the new science building but they officially have begun building the new museum inside. I can't wait! I get to manage it and everything! But my body is so sore from lifting boxes and organizing cabinets. It still looks like a disaster zone. I had some pigs in a blanket and some left oevr mexican food. It was so yummy. Now I'm just laying around and watching tv shows. I'll take my car to the mechanic. I need an oil change and some other stuff. So that will be fun. V and I are going to walk if the weather lets us. Its been raining on and off for the past couple of days. ETA: I had paragraphs!

  • @Swazzle Ahhh creepy! I would definitely keep an eye out too. And also, your H sounds like a keeper for planning surprise birthday dinners. :) HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!!! No sads allowed on your bday, only happy thoughts. After all, birthdays are an excuse to celebrate how kick ass you are!

@severmilli12 Ohhh redecorating is so much fun! You'll have to post pics once everything's finished. FI wants to buy a recliner at some point in the near-ish future, and it's making me want to buy all new furniture. We haz no money, so it's doubtful I'll be able to do that, but a girl can dream!

@CocoBellaF I think the meat will be OK if it's still somewhat cold and the color looks OK. I usually leave meat out to thaw about 12 hours before I can actually get home to cook it, and we've never had any issues.

@Blackbird230 Your weekend sounds fabulous. Wow!

@blabla89 I'm sorry you guys are having issues with your future in laws. :( I hope everything is smoothed out soon!

@LaPeanut1018 LOVE all the pics! I think the cotton is a really cute touch too. Your wedding is going to be gorgeous! Also, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. :( There seems to be a stomach bug going around. Hopefully you feel better soon!

@Ollie08 We just had that discussion at work. WHERE DID SUMMER GO?! How is July halfway over already?

@buddysmom80 Where is she going to school (if you don't mind my asking)? A lot of schools don't offer the program, so I'm always interested to hear where people are going and what their programs are like. I went to UT Austin for mine but sort of wish I'd gone elsewhere. I work at a library services company... couldn't find a job in a library at the time. I love my job though, although I think libraries are evolving in a way that will eliminate the need for a lot of librarians... :( It sounds like your friend has a ton of experience though and will EASILY land a great job.

@phira As a short person, I always have to get stuff hemmed. It should only take a couple of days depending on how busy your seamstress is. Super easy alteration to do.

@bethsmiles Swollen eyes? :( Sounds like a possible allergic reaction as well? I hope it de-swells ASAP!

  • @eilis1228 - Only one eye is swollen thankfully! Not an allergic reaction though. This happened somewhat frequently my last semester of college when I was running on caffeine alone! It's already starting to go down, hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow!

  • @bethsmiles Wow, that's crazy! That's an interesting way for stress/lack of sleep to manifest itself. I'm glad it's already improving though. I hope you're able to get some sleep tonight!

This is how I feel right now. Payroll this week has been nightmare-ish with all our summer school stuff starting. I feel like I am so behind because I wasn't around much today or yesterday.. time to get myself back into things!

@eilis1228 Good to know! I get why dresses are cut for taller people--you can't magically make a dress longer. But still, I'm average height! How is it that this dress is too long for me even in three inch heels?

  • @phira LOL that company must be catering to giants. Or maybe they think all people are as tall as models?

  • @swazzle, happy early birthday!

    @LaPeanut1018, love the tables!

Got my key! I get to see the office tomorrow!!

And I'm low on LN2 ... that lab poltergeist needs longer summer vacations I tell you.

  • Sorry I disappeared yesterday. I was just not having a good day at all and needed to check out of everything. Now I'm playing catch up!

@es14bw - I'm 29. This isn't the first year I've felt like this so I really don't think it's an actual number-age thing. More just the thought of getting older in general if that even makes sense.

@phira - I am feeling a little left out (for lack of a better term), I guess. H surprising me with dinner plans really helped, though!

@Ollie08 - AW! Birthdays are definitely not as fun as they were years ago, that's for sure. I treated myself to a mani/pedi last night and I might even go wild and schedule a massage for this weekend since it's been a while since I last had one and I could certainly use it!

@TwoDimes - That's so much to deal with all at once! You have a lot to look forward to so try to keep that in mind. I'm sorry you had to leave the non-profit that you loved, though :(

@eilis1228 - The only thing I could think while reading about your roly poly infestation is at least it's not roaches or spiders! It still sucks but omg it could be so much worse!

@bethsmiles - Could it be allergies? I woke up looking like Sloth from the Goonies a few months ago due to an allergic reaction in just one eye (from what? I have no idea) but both of my eyes also get gross and puffy when my allergies are acting up.

    @KeptInStitches - Thank you!

  • @Swazzle HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! And yes, you're right--the roly poly infestation could be much worse. A couple of years ago, the apartment I lived in was infested with bed bugs and then spiders about a month later. FI and I were covered in spider bites and had to go to Urgent Care to have them treated. We were on antibiotics for 10 days. It was terrible. I had to pay to break that lease too. So yeah, roly poly infestation < spiders and bed bugs. I think the worst part of the roly polys is stepping on them with my bare feet. :(

  • @eilis1228 - OH NO! Roaches or spiders would be my absolute WORST nightmare. I would have to leave. HELL NO.

  • @swazzle They were seriously lucky I didn't burn the place down. I don't do spiders!

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • @eilis1228 - That is actually my nightmare. If my apartment was infested with spiders I would have been GONE! I am in awe of your bravery!!

  • @lmcooper86 I paid to break the lease shortly thereafter. I was in tears at the leasing office trying to get them to let me out of the lease, but they wouldn't. I had exactly the amount necessary to break the lease in my savings account at the time, so I paid to break it and was out of there ASAP. That's actually what caused me to move in with FI, so I guess it all worked out for the best.

  • @Swazzle - If it is an allergic reaction I have no idea to what! I suppose it's always possible though.

  • @bethsmiles Makeup used to give me allergic reactions. If I wear eye primer, for example, I inevitably wake up with a swollen eye. Could it be something like that?

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • Even if it's not new makeup that could be it; one of my coworkers recently became allergic to the foundation that she's been using for years!

This happened to me with Clinique face products. I was using them for years and all of a sudden my face just REVOLTED - my eyelids got super dry and almost crusty, it was awful. I also can't use Mary Kay for the same reasons.

  • Actually it could very easily be old makeup too. Women don't throw out makeup as often as we should....especially mascara (bacteria central). I'm guilty of it too.
  • @GoldenPenguin I loved your post because the SAME EXACT THING happened to me. My eyes flipped out over the eye-makeup remover that I had been using for ages. F Clinique, seriously.

I used to have weird swelling that was entirely unrelated to everything (eyelids, usually, but sometimes lips). If it's happening a lot, an antihistamine might help.
