 I did not expect to be invited, and was not ( out of state, not direct relation, and b&g's limited budget. ) However... I would like to congratulate the couple as I have known the bride for over 20 years. Is a card enough? Do I send a gift ? How much of a gift...either cash or registry gift?

    Send what you want. You can send just a card, you can send a gift. There's really no rules here.

    Whatever you're most comfortable with.  I've gotten a few gifts from people not invited, ranging from cards to checks to a couple things off our registry.  Truly your preference!
