Re: it's FRIIIIIIIIDAYYYYY!!!

  • I know everyone else posted their weekend plans yesterday, but I didn't get a chance so I'm doing mine now!  I get off early on Fridays (around 2 PM), so I'm going to run by the pharmacy/Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and then head home.  H has to mow a couple lawns, so I think I'll do my Insanity Recovery work out while he is mowing.  we need to go by Sprouts tonight for our weekly groceries, and I think we're going to our favorite Mexican place and coffee shop tonight.  oh, and I need to go by Target to pick up a last minute wedding gift for a wedding I'm going to tomorrow!

I don't have much planned for Saturday except:  clean the house, Insanity Recovery, study for my PMP, teach a make-up piano lesson, and go to an evening wedding.

Sunday will just be church and naps and Insanity Recovery and whatever else I end up doing.

not a whole lot planned this weekend, but I like it!!
  • I didn't post my weekend plans on the last post so I'll post them here:

I'm super excited for tomorrow because my SO is coming home from a 2 week business trip. I've missed him like crazy.

Tonight I'm going to finish the top for the quilt I'm making for my dad. I might also have supper with my SO's mom, brother, and sister-in-law.

Tomorrow, I have a hair appointment in the morning. Yay! I love my hairdresser. Tomorrow evening I'm going to pick SO up from the airport. YAY!!!!!

Sunday, we are planning on going to the church picnic. However, I think there is a 50/50 chance that we will make it. My SO has been working a strange schedule (4pm - midnight) for the last two weeks, so his sleep cycle is all messed up. This means that I don't think we (meaning him) will want to be up to make it to the picnic that starts at 10:30 and we live 30 minutes away from. We will see though.
  • Hi Coco!!! I didn't realize you were doing the Insanity workouts (is that old news?). H and I have been doing HIIT routines for about a month (though he started a month or two before me). I'm into it.

I also didn't share my weekend plans yet. Tonight I am going to see the Dear Hunter, tomorrow I am going to a show with my littlest sister in DC, and Sunday is a home brew day. July is a busy month!

  • has anyone read this article?  I saw it last night and showed it to H.  we both thought it was funny and pretty accurate!  LINK - Early 20's vs. Late 20's.

@thetimewillcome - what do you plan to have done to your hair?
  • Happy Friday!

I'm super jealous of your early Fridays, Coco.

H and I just got paid on the 15th and our bank account is already pretty low and I couldn't figure out why. I know a lot of our bills come out right around now (utilities, my student loans, car payment, Verizon, and we put a decent amount away in savings on this pay day) but our checking account is significantly lower than usual. And then I realized it's from stupid freaking EZ-Pass. H commutes to work (it's the only option for him) and I went away a bit recently and paid tolls to get there and we paid over $300 in tolls in 2 weeks. I want to cry. It's so outrageous and I'm frustrated.

That article is hilarious. I think the reason I find it so funny is because it is so very true.

@CocoBellaF I'm planning on redying it, because unfortunately I have gray hair. WTF, I'm 29 and started getting them when I was 24 or 25. Unacceptable! I keep it about the original color (brown) except with a hint of red. Also a trim. Although, I might be in the mood for a chop off.

I also need to ask my hairdresser if she thinks I'm losing hair. I feel like there isn't as much there (i.e., it's not as thick). It also feels like the amount of hair I throw away everyday after the shower or combing it is ridiculous. I seem to think that this started happening after they put me on Warfarin (i.e., Coumadin). Has anyone else been on Warfarin, the blood thinnner, and had hair loss? I googled it this morning and the Google machine said that hair loss may be a side effect. I don't always believe the Google machine though, sometimes it LIES!

I loved that! It's almost perfectly accurate except for the driving ones. I'm a speed demon. And actually if I'm being honest, the cleaning one lol

  • This week flew by I fee like. I never knew what day it was.

Tonight H is going to a Braves game with his Fantasy Baseball buddies. I'm going to go to CrossFit and then gather up some things for the shower tomorrow, run to CostCo and Publix, and start setting up decorations so I won't be scrambling to do everything tomorrow.

Saturday morning I'll probably go to CrossFit and then my little sister and I are going to go pick up the cupcakes and cake pops that we ordered for the shower and go pick out some fresh flowers to put around the tables. I'll probably spend the rest of the day setting up and cooking. The guests arrive around 6 so we should have plenty of time. Then we eat, drink, and celebrate @LaPeanut1018

Sunday we are heading over to Hogansville, Ga (nowhere) to visit with H's grandparents who we haven't seen since Christmas I feel like. It will probably be boring and his grandparents are kind of awkward. His grandmother doesn't have a filter and basically just says whatever comes to her mind and sometimes it's mean. His grandfather is a bit creepy but I can't hold it against him since he is old and probably doesn't realize what he is doing lol.
  • @tuarceatha - I started Insanity in December 2013 and completed the first round.  I tried to start again, but was extremely ill so I wasn't as consistent as I wanted to be.  I started back up again with an Insanity Challenge on June 23rd.  I'm in the Recovery week and next week starts the dreaded Month 2.

what HIIT work outs are you doing?  I like the Insanity because I don't even have to think about what to do, I just pop in the DVD for the day.  I really enjoy Month 1.  I remember hating Month 2 last time, so I'm hoping that this round will be a better experience.

@Swazzle - OMG that's so much!!  our toll roads (and we don't have many) are ridiculously cheap.  one of the good things about my state, is the low COL.  I saw you all were comparing rents in another thread.  we pay $900 for our mortgage, and that includes our PMI, home insurance, and property taxes.  we have a 3BR/2B house in the suburbs with a nice backyard.  everything is so cheap here, you just have to worry about a tornado blowing it away every spring and fall.  ;)
  • @swazzle how on earth!! $300?? GOOD LORD! We have some HOT lanes down here and if there is crazy traffic/accidents/etc, the tolls go up to like $12+ It's nuts!
I just can't imagine your tolls being that high. It's highway robbery...literally!

Our weekend will be somewhat relaxing, I guess.
Tonight we're just going to grill some steaks and veggies and relax, maybe watch a movie OD.

Tomorrow, we get to head to the barn to pick up Bean from camp! He's been gone since Sunday and I can't wait to see him and hug him tight! He's been calling and texting me all week. I love his mid day texts <3

Sunday, we'll go to church in the morning and then Bean's bff is coming over to hang out. D will probably take them to play laser tag or to the water park. Other than that...we're just hanging around

@southernpeach89 - have you seen this?  LINK  H called it Crossfit on steriods.  we were both so impressed!!
    ETA:  and this!!  LINK
  • @beanbot2002 - that is so sweet that Bean is texting you!  :)
  • @swazzle wow $300 in tolls that crazy I don't blame you for crying. :-(

I have nothing exciting to really note.  I made zucchini bread last night and it was so good! It was real easy too.  I'm hoping H still wants to go over to the carnival tonight. I want some zeppoles. I wish I got off earlier during the summer.  Oh well.  I'm making brownies with marshmallow frosting and I forgot one of the ingredients when I went shopping yesterday so I have to pick up it up after work so I'm also going to shop for new pillows for the bed in target at least see what they have.

Life has been so calm and boring post wedding.....

    Anniversary

  • TGIF!! This week actually went by fast. I was pleasantly surprised :)

We have our annual cookout at work today so I'm excited about that!  I get to spend a couple hours of work time outside in the sunshine :) Fine by me.

Tonight FI and I have a date :)  We decided to stay in this week and order Chinese and rent a movie. I'm so excited for it.  I like to go out and eat or do something, but sometimes its nice to stay in and relax :) Also, we finished season 2 of OITNB...omg. I need season 3 to come out NOW.

Tomorrow is my momma's birthday so we're all going out to eat. Not sure what FI and I are doing that night, if anything.

Sunday is church and then possibly hanging out with some friends. W

  • Tonight is cleaning sorting packing throwing. FI is taking part of the afternoon off to do the donation runs since the place we like to donate to isn't open in the evening and his boss is ridiculously nice with flextime. I'm taking my reactor apart today and baking a steel(?) screen to see what it does at temps above cremation refractory. I cook with fire, y'all.

Tomorrow FI and I are going over bright and early to keep working on the apartment. Depending on how much we get done, he might go gaming in the evening.

Sunday FI and I will finish getting stuff out of his apartment! That will leave it empty and it will be much, much easier to clean. Even given the issues with his place (that kitchen floor is going to collapse - due to no fault of his own - and I hope to god we're out before it does), I'm hoping that we can at least present the cleanest apartment they've ever seen without too much stress for us. Gotta be done by the 31st ... then I promise to be much less obsessive about that and much more obsessive about the house.
  • Morning, ladies.  I got to work early, am reading very long documents, have to interview someone this morning and have a lunch with co-workers this afternoon.  I'm hoping to work out after work and then veg.

@Swazzle - Holy hell!  $300?!?  I get why you are frustrated.

@CocoBellaF - Have fun at the wedding!

  • @CocoBellaF and @beanbot2002 - It's seriously insane. H pays $16-$24 a day to commute to/from work (depending on which way he goes, obviously the cheaper way is ideal but coming home it can also take 2 hours longer) and he works 6 days a week. I actually didn't even take tolls into account when I was planning our upcoming roadtrip :(

Coco - We pay $1200 and our apartment could technically be a 3 bedrooms (1 large bedroom and 2 smaller ones that are currently H's mancave and my closet). Our building has a backyard but we share it with 2 other units, there's no grass, and you have to go downstairs, outside, and through the shared basement to get to it. It's definitely not ideal but we pay A LOT less than most people in our area and we really do have a great thing going given where we live.

  • Morning all! Yesterday was ridiculous at work and I wasn't here at all...I have a ton of stuff to do today but I'm hoping it won't be as crazy as yesterday.

Last night FI and I went to look at a couple of condos, one of which I really like...and of course that's the one that FI isn't sure about! So I think we'll order take out and have another look at the floorplans and pricing and stuff tonight and have a chat about potential housing options. Maybe rent a movie or something depending on how tired we are.

Tomorrow FI is golfing, I have cleaning and laundry to do...and then we have NOTHING planned. I feel like the last few weeks we've been busy, so I'm looking forward to an afternoon where we don't have to actually do anything.

Sunday is church, and probably hanging out with FI's family in the afternoon. I also need to look at some wedding stuff...we need to decide if we're getting STDs and order those, and I want to start looking at florists. We've been slacking lately so we need to actually do something!

  • @CocobellaF -Yes! I actually just watched it this morning. She is amazing! I feel like some girls that I've seen at CrossFit could do this stuff lol. THey're beasts.
  • Good morning and happy Friday!!!!!!!!!

I don't have too much planned for the weekend. I'm going to try to get out of work a few minutes early this afternoon, hopefully get home before 4:30, play with the pup for a bit then get changed and catch a train into the city to meet a friend for happy hour. No idea where we're going yet, but I really need to try to not spend too much money. I just got paid today, but when calculating my regular expenditures for the next couple of weeks, realized I only have about $120 of "fun money" left for two whole weeks which is NOT enough. I've been throwing everything I can into savings lately, which is great, but it still sucks to have to be on such a tight budget :-(

As far as the rest of the weekend goes, I want to spend a few hours cleaning and the rest of the time outside enjoying what's supposed to be a really nice 2 days. Hopefully we'll take the puppo for a hike on the Bronx River Trail and take her to her favorite dog park too. If I'm feeling REALLY motivated, I'll even go to the gym. Right now, I just want to fast forward to about 3:45pm and get my weekend started....

  • starting last night (and excluding the cookie I will eat tonight!), H and I are cleaning up our diets... again.  while I was so sick for the entire first half of 2014, we got back into some really BAD habits.  we ate more fast food in the past 6 months than the rest of our entire 3 years of marriage!!  H went to play basketball at 5:30 AM and I made a good breakfast...  2 eggs scrambled with 1 oz ground beef and 2/3 c. peas, drizzled with hot sauce.  YUM.

last night I made grilled chicken breasts topped with a cherry salsa and we had grilled whole okra and boiled potatoes and salad with it.  I was sad because half the okra was moldy!!!  usually Sprouts has really good produce, but this week the potatoes and the okra were both bad.  I hope it's not going to keep happening.  we are growing okra, but since it hasn't been very hot this summer, we aren't getting much!  surely it'll warm up and my little okra and pepper and tomato and eggplant plants will just explode, right???

  • @lmcooper86 - work has been insane for me, too.  I haven't been around much, either.  :(  hopefully I'll hear about a new job in the next week or so, and I'll be outta here!!
  • @southernpeach89 - I WISH I could do some of that!!!  she made it all look easy, and you know it is crazy hard.
  • Happy Friday everyone!

The weather is nice compared to the rest of the week that I may just take off in a little bit to go to the beach. Other than that, I have zero plans for today besides watching TV and being unproductive. Tonight FI and I have a date night planned. It is restaurant week here and one of the nicest restaurants around is participating. FI made a reservation because he knows that I've been dying to go, but it's so expensive when it's not restaurant week. Usually it's $70/pp for 3 course tasting, but it's only $35 during restaurant week. I am so excited for this, it's crazy.

Tomorrow I will probably spend the day cleaning or maybe take a walk outside? FI is working, so it will just be me and Pauly my cat. Sunday is the Feast. It's basically your typical carnival or fair, but it's where everyone in town will be. You will see everyone and their mom guaranteed. I plan on eating my weight in sausage and peppers, steamers and beer. Then watching the fireworks :-)

  • H and I pay out the butt for our commute in toll fees. Cheaper than if we didn't carpool, but expensive nonetheless.

Re: HIIT workouts: So far I've done this one and this one for the first time yesterday. I miss running outside but it is has been too gosh darn hot (until this week at least).

  • Hi everyone, happy Friday!  This was a 3 day week for me since we were at the lake house with friends Sun, Mon and Tues.

I would like to say we don't have much planned this weekend but we have a friend that's been n town and leaves tonight, H's aunt and cousin are in town because his grandpa has been in the hospital and tomorrow is a friends bday dinner.

Totally blew my good eating with 3 days of food and drinking but whatev's.  It's been pouring here...crazy thunderstorms last night.

@swazzle those commute price I DO NOT miss and I would be crying too!

  • @Swazzle - I spend about $75 a week on tolls if I'm lucky. I HATE it. I probably spend another $160-$200 on fuel each month, not to mention car insurance. The one bonus is that if I ever decide to leave this company and get a job in the city again, I won't bat an eye at spending under $300 a month on a Metro North monthly pass.

  • Question for @swazzle @hummingbird125 @tuarceatha- Why so many tolls? I drove to Maine a couple of weeks ago and it was only like $6. I am not used to having tolls around ever. I think we only have one for the Newport bridge and that's it.

@500days $$$ The biggest toll we pay out where I live is privately owned and that's the one that is $6.10 ish* during rush hour one way. The other toll funds things like the Metro projects in the area. I believe this all to be true. Yesterday we talked about Knowledge Gaps, and my knowledge gaps are large and cover MANY content areas. So yea.

ETA: Internet says $6.10 during rush hour. gah

The tolls piss me off SO MUCH when I go home. Between Albany & my hometown, we hit:

    1. 90E in NY to MA (.85)
    2. 90E in MA to 495 (3.80)
    3. NH toll (3.00)
    4. York toll in Maine (3.00)
    5. Gray toll in Maine (2.50)

The New Hampshire one has always pissed me off the most because you're in the state for like 15 minutes and they charge SO MUCH. And they keep upping the York toll in Maine, because they won't put another one further North because all the tourists stick to Southern Maine/the coast. It makes me SO. MAD.
