@Kelani23 No, I haven't tried anything on or ordered anything. We just happened to see a style we loved and decided to book an appointment for the fall. That particular appointment is my current motivation to stick to a diet and exercise regime. I've only got about 5 pounds to lose, but I'd like to lose body fat and a few inches more so than the weight. ETA: LOL it would help if I read more closely and saw you were talking to GoldenPenguin. It feels like Monday, I swear.

@GoldenPenguin RIGHT?! You'd think we'd all be super motivated to eat healthy and work out every day, but meh...

@Dignity100 Thanks! I actually don't remember your dress. I'll have to search through the boards for it. The photographer actually responded to my questions really quickly last night around 9pm (which really impressed me), and we've got everything squared away now. He just needs to update the language in the contract to be a bit more explicit, and we'll be good to go. Yay! :)

  • @kelani23 - it's ordered, yes. When I went shopping with my mom over the fourth, they let me try it on for her (since I picked it when she wasn't there) and it was a size up from what I ordered, and it was way too big, which made me feel good, but I still want to lose weight & tone up, especially my arms & shoulders, which is where the focus of the dress will be.

I want to be skinnier for our engagement pictures, which will be this fall!

  • eilis1228, mix weights with cardio. Muscle burns calories all day.
BUT you burn too many calories too quickly you will be fighting cravings and I'm much weaker on the food side of things.
I lost 20lbs in 6months by tracking my food. (and staying away from cinnamon rolls!)

  • @es14bw Yeah, that's normally my problem too. I overdo it and then crave terrible things because my body wants as many as calories as possible in as little time as possible. I try to eat lots of carbs and protein to keep my body fueled, but sometimes I get a little overzealous in my workout plans. Back when I was losing the 20+ pounds, I would burn off 1000 calories in a day at the gym and wouldn't eat more to make up for it. Not the best idea in the world. I now stick to 300-500 calories at the gym and eat an extra snack to make up for it.

Late to this conversation, since I've been working :( but :) I also want to get our engagement pics this fall, and would LOVE to feel better by then... Shockingly, my first week back to work I've lost weight.. I think it's because I'm not at home with all of the foods all day long :)

I need to eat better. And work out more. Though, I've been (literally at times) running after kids and hiking them up and down a hill for lunch, so that should count for some exercise, right? People (ahem, Dad) keep asking me "when are you going to start your wedding diet?". Oh dear. ETA: I just ate a Belgian waffle (the real kind, made from pearl sugar), with apples and cinnamon. Oh dear x2.

aghh!!  @Lilacck28 My dad told me when I saw him last 'you'd better be careful, you have fat coming at you from both sides of your family"

    Uhh...thanks Dad?

Meanwhile, I had to buy a bunch of new work pants because apparently unemployment wasn't good to my waistline :-/

  • @BreMR Yup. Dads. (not) silent self esteem killers. To be fair, mom whole heartedly agrees. And I guess I do too. Healthiness is a good goal, and my Belgian waffle was certainly not! But getting the motivation: tres difficult. Also, unemployment is coming my way fast.... Ruh Roh.
  • Damn, y'all's dad are harsh! :-\ I remember when I lost a bunch of weight a year or so ago, my step-dad told me to chill out and eat a cheeseburger. lol.

I haven't been super great about working out this week. My diet has been fine, but I think I made it to the gym three times, and my goal is 5-6. Sadness. Our upcoming move is the problem though. We've got so much to do, and it takes priority over the gym. I figure as long as I stick to my diet and get to the gym while I can, I'll be OK.

My coworker and I were talking about starting a buddy system with the diet and exercise. Not necessarily working out together, but basically if we each followed our diet and exercise regime for two weeks, we'd get manis (or something like that). Basically reward yourself with anything, as long as it's not food.

@BreMR How is the new job? Are you enjoying it?

@lilacck28 I effing love waffles. I wish they were healthier. I miss them so much. They're one of my favorite cheat meals though.

@ellis1228 I am LOVING my  new job so far :) Thank you for asking!  The worst part is, they bake fresh cookies EVERY DAY for the clients and we're allowed to eat whatever we want.  I have yet to eat any cookies, that's a path I must avoid. Yesterday there were two dozen bagels.... I also avoided those.

This is the first time I've realized I have willpower.
