This is not an "all you can eat" buffet wedding!

I saw this today: http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/2014/07/17/stand-down-wedding-guests/

Now there are apparently Buffet Police. Seriously people, why is it so hard to feed your guests!?

  • Hahahaha!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

So to thank you for watching us say "I do"

Take a piece of celery, (I SAID ONE NOT TWO!)

And you better of given is a lot of cash (A WHOLE BUNCH!)

Who ever said there was such a thing as a free lunch?!

Now it just needs to be written on a pretty framed chalkboard, because, you know, pinterest.

Alternatively, bedazzle the shit out of a piece of lace edged burlap and use the jewels to spell the words. It will combine the rustic/vintage theme with the luxurious pretty princess one, thus winning pinterest and causing a collective head explosion amongst speshul snowflakes

  • So yeah, people are pigs when it come to free food. Something chemically happens to them and they feel the need to eat as much as possible simply because it's free. The members at the club we work at are million and billionaires. On the golf course they talk about the price of jet fuel increasing. A topic I can not relate to. DH fills the lockers rooms with m&m, nuts and goldfish for "free". Dude, it's embarrassing how much they go through on a daily basis. It's mind boggling. Funny thing is the locker attendant is always throwing away some containers of uneaten snacks because they take more than they want. Such a waste. __________________________________________________________________________________ anyway, like someone commented in the article that sign will more than likely cause people to take too much since they know 2nds might not be an option. If they want to control the food they should have had a plated meal or at least servers to portion out the food. Buffets by nature are stuff your plate type of meals.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • When I was looking at venues the coordinator at one said they would have people serving the buffet because they had issues in the past with people taking huge portions and there not being enough for everyone to get firsts let alone seconds.

My aunt informed my mother that she and her daughter would be serving my guests the buffet meal at my wedding because she had been to a wedding that ran out off food.  I informed my mother to tell my aunt that would not be happening,

  • I went to a wedding where the DJ forgot to finish calling tables. We went up after the WP had seconds and didn't get a full plate of food between the two of us. I wish they had a little sign. Not really. I wish they had more food and that the DJ remembered to finish calling tables.

  • This sign would make me pile my plate to the heavens. I like to go to Mongolian grill-type of restaurants. For those unfamiliar, you put whatever kinds of veggies and meats you want into a bowl, and then they cook it on a big flat top grill with swords, then bring rice and tortillas to the table. You can pay like $13 for one bowl or $16 for unlimited bowls. You can only take leftovers home with the 1-bowl plan. I can usually only eat one bowl so it's not worth it to pay for unlimited and waste the leftovers, but you better believe I pile that first bowl as high with shrimp as humanly possible. I rig up the pepper strips to form supports on the sides. It's a masterpiece of culinary architecture.
YES.  This is exactly what I do.

Our Mongolian grill doesn't offer a reduced price for only one bowl (I wish) but they will let you take leftovers from the first bowl home.  After that, no leftovers.  So I pile that bowl as high as I possibly can, not because I want to eat it all at once, but because I really want those leftovers for tomorrow!

    It's just good fiscal sense!

Oh dear lord. Any good buffet will have gobs of food for this exact reason. If I were the venue I would be embarrassed by that sign.

One thing I was very glad about is that we didn't need the DJ to call out table numbers. My venue had servers go up to tables quietly to release them, in pretty rapid succession, so it didn't feel like a cattle call like I was kind of worried about. We had plenty of food. Although I ordered 90 cupcakes for 70 people and those disappeared in 2 seconds flat, same with the cookies at our RD so apparently our friends have way more of a sweet tooth than I thought.

Of course.  I know I would take more and so would H (asked him.)
