I've read rumblings that the show was closing but got the official call this morning from Cosmo saying my tickets for this wkd has been refunded and the show is no longer going to be apart of the Venue. The restaurant and bar is still going to be open but they are revamping the entertainment. I got first row seats for $50 too! It supposedly closed last wkd.

    Yea I just received an email from the restaurant coordinator and she informed me that this was true. I decided not to have my reception there then since the entertainment was part of what I wanted. :(

    I don't think the sale has officially closed yet of the Cosmo but even if it has the new owner hasn't had time to put their new mgmt team in place. There will definently be changes. I read somewhere in the hotel trade news that Cosmo has never been profitable in their casino however makes a killing in food and beverage. Obviously a casino owner wants the casino to be more profitable as it has a better margin. Anyway I'd expect the major changes to come first to be in the casino area. They won't mess with a good thing in f&b too much AT FIRST at least.

    Oh yes the sale has been done. It was sold to the blackstone group for 1.73 billion dollars (an all cash deal). Blackstone also owns Hilton. http://www.reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/cosmopolitan-las-vegas-sold-blackstone-group-173-billion

    Wow! I wonder how things will change. From the sounds of it, food and beverage certainly won't change as that is the only thing making them money. Maybe the gambling will be cheaper :)

    I'm wondering how much it will change in the next 8 months, and whether I should book a back-up hotel block in case we don't like the changes!

    That's the same article I read I think. Anyway it'll probably change for the better when an experienced operator comes in. Keep in mind it has been run by a bank up to now and they are certainly not known for their hospitality.

    I imagine they'll try to draw more people in to the casinos with free play and a rewards system. The M Life through all MGM properties has a great system that way, with discounts at their restaurants, spas, etc. for having a players card and bring an active gambler. Guess we will see what happens!
