Chit Chat

Love my parents for the things they ask.

My cousins wedding is next weekend. Full catholic ceremony with reception to follow on the top floor of a nice swanky hotel in a big city. Im really looking forward to this bc I think it's going to be a blast.

Mom calls me today and asks "so do you think dad can get away with wearing nice slacks and a short sleeve button up shirt."

Me "no mom, dad really needs to wear a suit."

Mom "well why? It's going to be hot out"

Me "mom, this is a formal event. And I'm pretty sure the church and hotel will have air conditioning. Dad can where whatever he pleases but in my opinion he really needs to wear a suit."

Mom (huffing) "fine! I guess I will have
To get his suit cleaned."

Meanwhile dad is in the background asking when I started dictating their attire. Love them to death. I hung up laughing

  • Ha.  I think it's funny they called you and then got all huffy when you gave them your honest opinion.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • My mom was looking at the wedding photos of a family friend (she hadn't been able to attend the wedding) and the bride's brother was wearing what you described. All the other men in her family were wearing suits and my mom's comment was that the the brother looked like a janitor in comparison.

  • We had someone show up to our wedding in black jeans and a button down shirt. Everyone else was in suits. He stuck out like a sore thumb. I would think that by mid 20s people would own some type of dress attire.

LOL, kind of like when new brides come expecting validation for bad ideas and then go off in a huff and feel bad for our FI's because we're bitches.  We're all supposed to support each other!!!!

I love parents, especially ones (like mine) who have no fashion sense :)
  • My father has a neck like a tree trunk, and he actually pouted when mom said he had to wear a suit and tie lol
