OH?! I am not aware you can go pick it up!   Where did you go to pick it up?  I thought it comes from Harrisburg.... I know nothing apparently.

The priest gave us ours after our ceremony.  Guess it's different in DE than PA.  Again, no help to you  :)

You can go pick one up at Norristown.  I think you need to call ahead though.  Some guy did that this morning before we applied for ours.

In Norristown when you go apply for it you take it with you.  It isn't valid until 3 days later though.  After your ceremony you have the officiant fill everything out and mail it back within 10 days.  After that you can get your certified marriage certificate that you need to change your name.

Wait I'm confused, I apparently have no idea how this works.  So the certificate we got from the priest after the ceremony isn't the real marriage certificate?  I'm supposed to get something else?

You get the marriage certificate from the priest, but if you want to change your name you need a certified copy (raised seal).

I changed my name with the one from the priest.  So I'm not sure what to tell you.

The SS office says you need the one with the raised seal.  They also told me today that you would need to mail in or stop back in for a certified copy.

<div>Ditto this. I changed mine at the social security office and DMV with just the part that my rabbi gave me from what I was handed when I applied at Norristown. </div>

No, it didn't have a raised seal. But our officiant was a judge and gave us 6 copies as well that I used to do all of my name changing, so maybe that is why I didn't need the seal? I have no idea, lol. But I changed my name everywhere so if the one I got at the ceremony wasn't legit I don't think SS and the DMV would have changed my name.

Maybe I just need that bottom part too? I guess I can go try. Or just wait for the one in the mail, there is no real rush to change my name  but I am excited to do it!
