ANOTHER tipping question

I have a quick question about tipping. I'm not tipping the photographer or DJ - they both own the business, etc. But they will both have someone else with them - a second shooter for the photographer and an assistant for the DJ. Should I tip them? I don't *think* you usually tip the second shooter, but I'm leaning towards yes for the DJ assistant. I feel like it's awkward to tip the assistant and not the main one though.

Re: ANOTHER tipping question

  • You're already paying them, you really don't HAVE to tip anyone. Any tipping that you do is out of the goodness of your own heart. The assistants are getting paid as well as the main people. Especially if you're on a budget, tipping isn't needed.
  • NO!

You don't HAVE to tip  the owners of a business, you absolutely should tip the assistants

  • So I asked my fiancé's cousin who is a wedding photographer if she normally gets tipped. She said it happens about half of the time, and if I did tip, to tip the main photographer and let them tip out to the second shooter. She's never seen a second shooter get tipped directly.

I'm not sure what to do about the DJ though.
