Attending a PPD today.

Re: Attending a PPD today.

  • What a waste!  At least you got some amusing stories out of it, even if you didn't get any cake.

  • Too bad they couldn't pay the bar tab in cake!!

I wish I could have been there to stand in the corner and ooze pure snark.  OMG, that is insane.  PPDs are an ever-giving source of wonder and amusement for me.

  • There were TWO cakes and they didn't serve any!?!? What the hell?
  • Wow this is all just strange. So much second-hand embarrassment for the B&G.
  • So much cake wasted. How sad

PPDs in general don't bother me, however this one sounds terrible!
  • @CA.Giraffe could you all have been booted early because after tackily opening said wedding gifts to 'pay the bar tab' they realized they had gone way over budget and couldn't afford to stay any longer let alone pay for the 'cake cutting fee,' thus cancelling any thoughts of having cake?

I mean why on else WOULD YOU NOT CUT THE CAKE!?!?!
  • Wow! I have nothing important to say other than thanks for sharing & providing us with some entertainment!

Oh God I really hope that you would never choose to leave your $1400 cake uncut because you can't afford the cake-cutting fee out of your wedding theater gifts.  Holy shit.

This is sort of what I was thinking too.
  • Actually, I think the even bigger waste of money was the wedding planner/DOC. Because honestly, nothing seemed coordinated in the slightest.
  • I have a feeling that maybe she might have been screwing one of the bartenders. Gee, I'm so bleak. But like PPs have said, what a shit show overall!

  • Why wouldn't you host coffee, tea and soda? It's so cheap! My guess is the bride disappeared because her PPD wasn't perfect and it was supposed to be perfect. I bet she was pouting in the bridal chamber and missed her own party as a result. What a waste of time and energy for everyone!

But this means she gets a do over, right??  ;)

Maybe they were hoping they could return it, you know, or sell it.

  • I hope there weren't any kids at this wedding! My niece has been talking about wedding cake since she first learned that weddings have cake. Her heart would be broken if she didn't get cake!

Lets be real. I would have a broken heart if I went to a wedding, and I saw a cake, and I didn't get any.

  • Maybe she was just taking the princess theme to its logical conclusion and left the party before her carriage turned into a pumpkin?

My 6 year old niece was most excited about cake and dancing.  No cake would have made her very upset.  She came up to me at the reception and told me she was very happy when she found out there was a party with cake and that weddings weren't just about kissing.

  • no updates on the MIA "bride".   :-(

What a waste of money all around.  Geez

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

When my cousin got married the flower girl and ring bearer were the children of one our our mutual cousins.  When the flower girl got to the top of the aisle at the end of the ceremony she reportedly said "Let's party" or something along those lines.
