10 dozen clams!!

DH loves clams.  He has a guy who is a clammer, who brings us clams, 10 dozen at a time.  I am beyond tired of just eating a zillion steamed clams each time we get them.   Give me your delicious and creative ideas to make with all these tasty little mollusks!!

  • Baked clams are delicious. I really don't follow recipes when I cook, so here is the gist...

     

    Steam clam until they open. Take all the meat out (keep the shells) and chop them up. I put that in a bowl along with bread crumbs, one egg, lots of lemon zest, salt and pepper, parm, and parsley. Add some pepper flakes if you like heat. Put all of his back into the shells and bake at 350 until they are nice and crispy.

    Give me enough time, and I'd eat every last one of those suckers.  Steamed and dipped in garlic butter.  With cold beer to drink.

    I have no other ideas for how to prepare clams, though.  I just know I could eat steamers all day.

    They aren't the largest of clams, they are actually pretty small. . . . with that being said, when eaten steamed my DH can put a serious dent into 120 clams!

    Last year at a fourth of July party, I'm fairly certain that FI ate 6 dozen claims. They were smaller and he was eating them so fast that he lost track of how many dozen he was eating!
  • I have just learned of something called clam pie. . . . it seems like basically clam chowder in pie shell.  I MUST try this!

  • I had fried whole belly clams for lunch today. They were fresh and lovely.

    What about clam chowder or linguine and clam sauce, white clam pizza?

    DITTO!!! This might sound crazy but I actually prefer steamers to lobster. 

    You could toss them in linguine with olive oil, garlic, lemon, my old roomy used to make that.

  • You could do fried clams. You could even do raw clams (they sound like they'd be nice just tossed in a light sauce or olive oil with some herbs on a soft roll or salad, but I'm just throwing this out from my head so it could be disgusting).
