Help me find, or learn to make, this... PIP

I found this photo online (not sure where) and I LOVE the crystal 'mat' the cake is on ... I dont know if its rocks scattered on table, or its a type of 'mat' made out of crystals ...??

Any ideas? Or have you seen this somewhere??

OH! Phew. Man. I need to look closer before commenting. Yeah...it's glass stones laid closely together around the silver thing the cake is actually sitting on. :-)

Ooh... so its nothing actually glued together, just buy a bag of those clear stones/rocks and spread them out you think??

Yep! I looked at it closely and you can't see anything holding them together (and the silver thing is flush with the table). Plus, it'd be so easy just to lay them on there (even right up against each other to look like a mat) that it'd be a waste of time and energy to try and attach them.

You can get those "crystals" at Michael's. I saw some just like that the other day.

You can totally do it and it looks GREAT!!! It would look great on any color table, too! Think about even if your tablecloth were pink...the pink coming through the glass at different angles. A $2 decoration!
