JR. BRIDEMAIDS

I have 2 jr. bridesmaids....10 and 8 years old...what do jr. bridesmaids do??? They are so excited to be apart of the wedding but I am lost at what I can have them do...thanks

Re: JR. BRIDEMAIDS

  • They do exactly the same thing as your other bridesmaids. They process in with the bridal party, stand at the top of the aisle with the bridal party, and exit at the end of the ceremony with the bridal party. Because there is no role difference, some might argue that you simply need to call them bridesmaids. Do they have any expectations?

They do the exact same thing as your other bridesmaids. Also, I suggest dropping the "junior". No need to point out to everyone that they are younger than the others.
  • There is no such thing as a junior bridesmaid.  They are bridesmaids.

  • Like others said, they get full bridesmaid duties and you should try to include them in all bridesmaid activities. I can understand not including them in bachelorette party if it includes drinking, but you should try to plan something they can attend. I had a 6-year-old bridesmaid (my niece). She attended my shower. She went with us for mani-pedi appointment.  She got her hair done with us. She helped me get dressed for wedding. She walked up/down the aisle with the other bridesmaids. I didn't have a bachelorette party.  But, for the most part, she was included in all activities that bridesmaids were involved in.  8 & 10 year olds should be calm enough to participate in most of it, even if you do a spa day or something. I was worried that the 6-year-old would be too hyper for some of it, especially mani-pedi & hair, but she did wonderfully and acted very mature during all of it.  And she loved being included with the adults.

And there's no reason to call them "junior" bridesmaids.  Either they are bridesmaids or they aren't.

Yay, OP! I bet you will make them feel super cool and special to be "bridesmaids" and not "junior bridesmaids" when they really do the same thing. So glad you were open to this suggestion.
