You probably shouldn't say that on FB...

So a girl I went to HS with got engaged a few weeks ago. She posted a status today along the lines of "only got engaged a few weeks ago and I've already got so much booked. Can't wait to see what comes next!!!!!"

So someone commented "don't forget to invite your favorite customer (me!)."

Ok, she should have seen this coming. Fine. Whatever. BUT THEN SHE RESPONDS: "our ceremony will be taking place at [public place], so feel free to join us, I'm sure we'll have strangers watching, too!"

What the actual fuck. I can't even comprehend this.

amen to this!!! (can't get out of the box!) Seriously, I know many people who have been SO tacky asking for addresses, etc.

I am 99.9999999% sure we have the same Facebook friend. My head was spinning when I read this, too.

We likely don't know each other. I don't know the bride or the groom through schooling, and I actually know the groom better than the bride (but I'm not close with either of them).

Either that, or we coincidentally both have similar acquaintances and just happened to see similar things on FB this week :)

  • My friend having the ridiculous 250-person gift grab "engagement party" also posted something like that on FB - right after the engagement one of those "hi all - if I don't have your address, please send it..." Nothing WR should be done via FB!

ok, but how do you feel about non-wedding-related general address requests? We're moving soon and I'm contemplating making a generic, "if you've moved in the past year, PM me your address" post, so I can send "We've Moved!" postcards to people, and Christmas cards later. (I'm only facebook friends with 47 people because I basically defriended anybody who wouldn't be invited to my wedding if I were getting married tomorrow.)
  • ADK - that's totally fine in my book. It's like if you lose your phone and have to blast your friends on FB to get their numbers. totally fine. I just think for a party that only SOME people are invited to, you shouldn't broadcast info to the universe.

    Good luck w/ the move!!

I think if you legitimately want an address or wouldn't mind getting the address of every single friend you have on FB that's a horse of a different color.  Personally, I try to keep all my address requests to PMs because then it's not dependent on my privacy settings or their privacy settings but a sort of general call out for addresses from less than 50 people would probably be fine.

Thanks!  We're under contract for a house.  Inspection is Sunday, so crossing our fingers for good news.  The paperwork required for a mortgage is kinda insane.
  • Confession time, I have been seriously considering posting a picture of my ring on facebook... its so pretty and I just love it.

But, I have refrained.. still thinking about it though.

me too. I didn't post it to begin with so I feel it would be tacky now, but I hope my FI doesn't think it is because I don't like it or something.

Well, I just finally picked up my finished band from the jewelers on Thursday and it looks more beautiful than when we were designing it in the store. But, I don't think fb cares about my ring as much as I do and I don't want to come off as a show off.

Maybe we should post our rings here for some good ring porn material.

Ack... paragraphs not working. I agree, the issue with FB is that you should not post something (such as asking for invitees) that does not pertain to every. single. person. who can read that post. Asking for all of your friends' addresses, go for it. Why would anyone post something like, "If you want to come to my wedding, send me your address!" !?!? That is just opening up a whole can of worms. Someone is going to get offended when they send their address and don't get invited. Or someone who finds this offensive but is a good friend won't send in their address and the B&G are going to wonder why... Confession- I posted a picture of my ring on FB.

  • What beautifully unique ring. Very pretty.

I always go for sentimental value rather than monetary value. You gotta love your ring or what's the point?
  • I never get to show off my ring :Dimage

I wanna play! I'm obsessed with mine and I can't wait to start wearing my band in a week!! (eek!)

ETA: Sorry this was actually originally taken to show someone my nails... which is why its really not centered on my ring at all, but it's the most detailed pic I have of my ring on my computer right now
