@CMGragain, I agree you're not ugly! We just finished a breakfast of chocolate chip banana pancakes ams now I'm going to make zucchini muffins while Chiquita decorates a mirror for her "big girl room". I'm 2 weeks and 2 days from my due date and hope to wash the clothing i have for Chiquito. It's starting to really feel real and I'm getting slightly freaked out. I'm thinking of all our friends today battling cancer and keeping you close in my thoughts.
New baby so soon! You're going to do so great with a new mini-banana :)
@CMGragain I can guarantee you are not ugly. How do I know? Because I like you, and I'm frankly a bitch and I only like good-looking people.

What am I doing today? I'm missing my friend's son's 7th birthday :(I have a huge lego set for him, must wait a week sadly. But on the plus side, IT'S RIBFEST.

    SIB
sweet jesus you'd have to tie my hands behind my back to keep me from building it...
You don't even know, man. FI is no help either, he wants to build the Gotham Daily Bugle as much as I do! I am literally using ribs to distract myself from lego. Btw @LDay2014 your girls look wonderful! Beautiful fabrics too!
I don't understand why you don't just have your own legos, ladies. I have no shame in admitting I have a lego set in my closet that I bust out when I need to unwind and put ALL. OF. MY. FOCUS. on something that isn't stressful when everything else in life is stressful. Seriously, some of the best money I've ever spent.
Why do you think I have kids?
See below...FI on the floor Christmas morning with my youngest because lego.

DH keeps looking at the Lego sets for teens going "but it's for DS".  DS is 23 months old, he is not even close to ready for those sets.

  • I desperately want Legos.  The first year of college, I came home for the summer.  In the evenings I would listen to my iPod or books on tape and I would take apart and put together all our sets.  My family has a whole bunch: the big Maersk ship, three or four different train sets, the big multi-level city block set or something like that.  It was pretty awesome!

I really want to get some of the big fancy buildings like the Sydney Opera House, the Tower Bridge, the Eiffel Tower, Fallingwater, the Brandenburg Gate.

My kids will have Legos before they're old enough for Legos so I can play with them!
  • Hi.

just got home from a date night with DH.  He is watching a movie, I'm hanging out with a beer on the deck knotting.     Have to go to work tomorrow.    I keep telling myself  "24 days till vacation. 24 days till vacation".

  • I've started about 17 different things and not finished one of them.  Productive Saturday fail.

  • Today I learned how to make Okinawan fried rice. I am so full of delicious bacony rice.

  • Spent a good chunk of the day looking at different recipes to create the "perfect" recipe for a dinner I was envisioning. Then skent what little money we have on ingredients and spent a big chuck of time cooking. Only to add cheese that ended up being moldy during the last step. And no way to remove it. So the entire dinner went into the trash. Bf tried to make me feel better but did the opposite. I know there's way worse things out there but it just really bummed me out and I was really looking forward to that dinner.

That sucks.  I haven't had that happen but DH or I have been in the middle of cooking and one of ends up running to the store because we realize we don't have something or it's gone bad.

  • Had a lazy day mostly on the couch watching Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Just got back from picking up some stuff at Walmart and grabbing dinner at Wendy's with DH. Mmm... Jr. bacon cheeseburgers...
    ~*~*~*~*~

  • I had my makeup/hair trial followed by an "interesting" meeting with my venue contact. Then I took my sis shopping for starter pantry supplies (she's moving out at the end of the month).

    SITB

I have to love this because I was born in Okinawa.

    Also Stuck

I love Okinawan fried rice I lived there from when I was 13 years old till 16.  Ugh I miss the island so much.  Best years of my life.  And the only reason I took Japanese as a foreign language in both High School and College.

I worked today and I'm still working. On the computer. But I have a pizza and a bottle of wine so that's helpful. Tomorrow I'm going to a buddhist monastery for the first time. They do "Days of Mindfulness" which are open to the public. I have no idea what to expect, or wear, or bring.. But I'm going! And I'm excited about it. Gotta get this work done first, though..
  • I'm freaking out.  My dad fell today and broke his hip.  He turned 77 5 days ago.  Just found out a couple of hours ago.  I spent pretty much the whole of July with my parents in case he fell, so of course he waited until I left town and started teaching my class to fall.  He broke his pelvis last year, but this time is much worse.  He's in traction and they're going to have surgery, probably tomorrow, but the doctors are fighting over it because they're worried he won't make it through surgery.  I can't go up to my parents' house because I have to teach Monday (and they're 5 hours away), and my sister can't this week either.  Mom doesn't want us to come right now anyway because she is less emotional when we're not around.  Mom and dad were tentatively planning on moving down to my sister's house in October for a few months.

Just had to get that out of my head.

Oh my God, I'm so sorry. That is awful. Why do they think his surgery will be so difficult? I am praying for you hard core.

He has major health issues - 5 bypasses, a pacemaker defibrillator, and diabetes, bad blood circulation, stents, etc.  They're waiting on the surgery partly to get the coumadin (blood thinner) out of his system.  His cardiologist is going to see him tomorrow to evaluate but the other doctor said they're doing the surgery regardless.

    ETA: thank you

I'm so sorry. My grandmother had a serious fall last year - it's not an easy thing to watch a family member go through. *internet hugs*

Sorry I keep asking questions.. but do they have to do surgery?

I understand this debate reasonably well. They did it with my H's father when he needed surgery and had diabetes, blood pressure problems, etc. It's a hard choice to make.

I know it's not worth a whole lot but I do believe in the power of positive thinking. I will be actively thinking of you and your family tomorrow while I'm in meditation for most of the day.

Thanks for telling us what's going on. I think that it's important to put it out there.

ETA: if you're comfortable sharing his name or your name, feel free to PM me. It helps in meditation. If not, no judgement, I will use your screen name.

The one doctor who is pushing it is doing so because my mom would never be able to take care of him otherwise, based on what she said.  I'm guessing he would never be allowed to go back home.  As it is he'll probably have to go into a nursing home for a while until he can walk again.

We'll take all the good thoughts we can get.  :)  His name is Gene or Geno (nickname).

  • Exciting weekend- worked a double Friday and a double Saturday! Nothing like getting to work at 10 a.m. and leaving around midnight two days in a row. I'm an actor at a dinner theatre, but the pay for being "just an actor" isn't enough to pay the mortgage, so I also wait tables in the dining room. Luckily, I don't serve today, so I'll go in at 2:30 for a 3:00 show and be done by 5:30 :) And then tomorrow is my day off, even though FI and I have a million things to do- one of which is getting our marriage license, woohoo!
