September 2014 Weddings

One month September 6 brides!

Sooooo, it's August 6! One month till the big day! I'm just so ready for this to happen already. FI and I bought our house last December and having been living together for 2 years, so we are just anxious to make it all official. Our big to-do's include: get marriage license, talking with our ceremony pianist, figure out if we are doing programs and make them as well as solidifying our ceremony, paying for flowers/catering/cake once our rsvp's are in and we have a final count, make table numbers, make a seating chart and escort cards, take dress to get hemmed (hopefully next week, lol). How are y'all doing?

Re: One month September 6 brides!

  • I'm September 7th so I hope that counts :) I'm so happy that it finally seems like we are close! For a while there everything was dragging and I just wanted to be done with the whole planning process. We are still waiting for the majority of our RSVP's, checking the mail everyday is getting depressing! We haven't picked the majority of our music for the ceremony/ reception yet so we really need to get on that. I keep thinking almost everything is done but I know once the final number count is set I'm going to have so much to do. I still have to order accessories, just can't make up my mind!
  • Oh, yes, September 7 definitely counts! We are (im)patiently waiting for RSVP's, too. We sent out 77 invitations and have received 40 back, so we are barely over 50%. We currently have 79 people that RSVP'd yes and invited 150. I just want to know our final numbers so we can pay the cater and florist! And make a seating chart...
  • I know! I just posted on FB how excited I was that there was only a month until I married the love of my life! :)

    I am doing okay....just anxious/excited/ready!

    Still to do:
    - Get marriage license (doing that on August 22nd)
    - Pay the florist (due on August 15th)
    - Fiance is paying off my wedding band
    - Pick up dress from alternations lady and try on to make sure it's good to go
    - Buy groomsmen gifts
    - Buy supplies/clothes/etc for our honeymoon
    - Keep practicing our wedding dance (we are doing a fun one)
    - Create a photo book and print off photos for memories area
    - Buy games, toys, etc for the kid's activities table
    - Create sparkler's jar to hold sparklers

    That's it!

  • Is anyone else slightly freaking out about all the stuff that needs to be done once the final numbers come in?? We are still waiting for like 40 people to RSVP and some of them we have absolutely no idea if they are planning to attend.  We invited 136 people (knowing that many of those wouldn't be able to attend because of age, timing, etc.) and have had 59 accepts and 35 declines.  I think that the fact that 85% of our guests would be from OOT has played into our huge number of declines. I'm thinking we will have around 75 total but it's so hard to plan out the room arrangements, number of centerpieces, favors, and catering costs without final numbers!!

  • RSVPs are the bane of my existence! Seriously! You get it and you send it in, not that difficult. We are still waiting on about 20. We have a minimum of 120 guests and I am getting very worried that we won't at least make that.
Also definitely check what you need to bring for your license. They can be very particular!
I can't believe we are less than a month to go! Still working out dress alterations, need to pick out our music (still no first dance song ahh!), and all of the tiny things I need to push out of the way. And the impossible.. drop 5 pounds lol.

    Goooood luck, ladies!!!!!!!

Where are you looking at for accessories? I'm in bit of a panic right now.
  • I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't have any options to physically go look at anything.  I need to order offline and I'm thinking Etsy, but kind of worried because I'm cutting it so close!!
  • SO relieved that I got a message from our etsy cake topper seller that it is being shipped tomorrow! The seller's page said it takes 10-12 weeks for it to arrive, but I didn't realize it until after I bought it. It originally was scheduled to be shipped Aug 22 and it takes 10 days to ship from New Zealand. Fingers crossed it gets here soon :) Tomorrow I'm taking my dress to the seamstress, we are getting our marriage license, and hopefully meeting with our ceremony pianist.
  • @brunchbride14- 80% of my decor is from Etsy. You can ask the seller ahead of time if they will have it to you by a certain date. GL!

  • 3 weeks!!! I'm so ready for the planning to be over and just be married. I'm also ready to stop dealing with shitty vendors. It's amazing how one irritating vendor can ruin a whole pile of amazing ones, or at least suck up all your time and energy. I'm also ready to take 2 weeks off of work. FI and I are insanely busy and stressed right now with only Mondays off. So much to do Monday!
  • "I'm so ready for the planning to be over and just be married"
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!!! I've been in a police academy for the last five months or so, only home on the weekends, and have only seen my fiance 38 days out of the last 154....my nerves are pretty much shot at this point and I just want the planning and stress over with.

Ironically I think I'm stressing less than our families and my fiance haha I still feel like I have a ton left to do but I think it's just minor things like accessories for myself (jewelry, undergarments) and figuring out the day of timeline.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the build up to the big day! One way or another we're going to end up married and happy, regardless of how the wedding actually turns out. =) Best of luck finishing up those pesky last minute details!
  • Glad to see that others are complaining about responses too. We're 41 days from the wedding... 10 days from the response card due date... we've got about half of our responses back... almost no one has declined, but we've got several people who want to bring guests we didn't invite....I was hoping for a small wedding, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen!!
We're working on favors and programs... but I think most things are under control.
    Good luck ladies!
  • Hi Ladies,

The RSVPs drove me nearly mad. But by the due date we only had to call 3 or 4 people the did end up filtering in at the last minute.

I am also a September 6th bride! I agree I just want to be married and never have to make another decision ever again! I would also like to sleep again lol. I realized recently that even thought I planned the whole day, I didn't really "plan" the whole day! Now I am working on the timeline and small details to bring it all together. I'm finding myself on a bit of emotional rollercoaster right now. One minute I'm crying the next I'm totally fine. And my fiancé has really upped his game over the last few weeks helping me with last minute things which helps.

It feels like a freight train coming............

  • So we finally called and accounted for everyone on our guest list today that didn't send their RSVP's back, including calls Tuesday that were "If we don't hear from you by Thursday, we will assume you are not coming." We had a few of those who never responded... Oh well :-/ Our final head count is 107, including FI and myself. We sent out 77 invites with a possibility of 150 guests. A big decline rate, but we did have a ton of OOT guests. I'll be sending an email to the hotel/caterer tomorrow! Woohoo! Then we'll finally know how much the catering will actually cost. Yay!!
