Weekend

Hi ladies. I can't sleep, so I'll start off the weekend thread. Mine was crappy, so tell me all your fun stories so I can live vicariously through them! I think I remember hearing about some fun stuff happening - tractor pulls, concerts?

Friday I just worked all day and came home.

Saturday I had CPR renewal class with a friend from school, and afterward we got lunch and saw a movie. We watched "The Hundred Foot Journey," which was really good. And then we went to the mall for a while and looked at all the nice stuff we can't afford right now (but hopefully will very soon).

Sunday I went for a run, and then a friend and I got together for lunch and a walk. When we got back from the walk, we found my car window smashed in and my purse (which I had hidden underneath a seat) was gone - wallet, license, house keys, totally gone. When I called to cancel my debit card (which was the only monetary thing I had in there, thank God), they had already bought gas with it somewhere (they only had a range of maybe 45 minutes to break in and leave). After the police came out and did their thing, my friend and I came home and changed the locks on the house really quick, just to be safe, and then ordered pizza and watched the Lego movie to help distract us.

I have been dreaming about my damn purse all night. I am sooooo mad at myself; I usually take it with me EVERYWHERE and had this nagging feeling that I should have during the walk, but I got lazy and didn't want to carry it around the lake, and I thought I had hidden it pretty well. The officer thought that someone might have been watching us in the parking lot to see if we got out with anything, even though my friend and I didn't remember anyone else there and only maybe one or two other cars in the lot. So, lesson learned. I'm going to try to go back to sleep for a little while, and then I guess I'll spend today getting a new license and getting my window replaced. ERG.

Re: Weekend

  • @clogreeneyes ugh, I'm so sorry that happened! I had that same experience a few years ago, I had brought my daughter to the beach for the first time and my cousin and I hid our purses under the seat of the car, I left the window SLIGHTLY cracked and the thieves were smart enough to figure it out.  Oddly enough months later my cousins purse was found in the woods with all of our stuff in it, they took my cousins cash, and my Wilson's leather purse, but  tossed my cousins coach purse and my coach wristlet.  Obviously not very smart thieves.

My weekend was fairly decent!  On Friday night I watched the Dead Files with my fi, and fell asleep much too early.  Saturday my mom and I took my daughter school clothes shopping, I was so impressed with how much I got for the money I spent.  We then went to the hibachi grill for lunch. Saturday night I went to my friend's house to watch Outlander and drink wine. Yesterday I mostly watched Pretty Little Liars all day, intermingled with laundry and pulled pork sandwiches.

  • @Blue & White, yay for your interview! Sending you lots of good vibes!

@BreMR, sounds like you had an awesome weekend! Back to school shopping is always so satisfying, lol.
  • My weekend wasn't the best either.

Friday - FI had to work.  We went out to dinner before he went in and I got home and just laid on the couch and did nothing.

Saturday - FI stayed at his house because he got home right before 6AM and he didn't want to bother me and the dogs.  I got up around 8am, vacuumed, did my first T25 video (which totally killed me - I'm so out of shape).  I cleaned off the entertainment stand and noticed my TV's picture had went all grainy and black was coming in grey.  It's happened before and we just jiggled cords until it worked right again.  I proceeded to jiggle cords, switch cords - nothing helped.  So I tried a few other components (google TV, Blu-Ray) everything was grainy.  FI took a peek and couldn't get anything working right either.  I have a small TV in front of my treadmill, so we hooked it up - picture came in clear, so it must be something with the TV.  After we hooked the small one up, I asked FI to hook the surround sound up (just a couple of cable switches) and we turned it on and the only thing we can get is 'Please Wait' and 'Boot' on the menu.  I looked it up and basically the results I found were that LG sound systems suck and do that and it's basically 'bricked'.  So now I need a new TV and receiver for my surround sound (and blu-ray 'cause it was an all-in-one).

Sunday - In the morning we looked at TVs to replace my broken one.  After I wrote down a few models/options, we went back to my house, I took care of the dogs, and then we went to the Cleveland Gladiators game.  Gladiators won - so that means Arena Bowl will be in Cleveland!  We have tickets to both the Indians game and the Gladiators game - Indians starts at 7:00pm and Arena Bowl at 8:00pm - so we're thinking about going to Indians for about an hour and then over to Arena Bowl.

I have no idea what to do about the TV situation either.  Do I get something now that's somewhat decent and will get us by for a few years (I know there's some newer technology right around the corner that I don't want to spend the $$ on because the wedding and it's pretty new), do I wait until Black Friday and see what kind of deals there are - it would be after our wedding, so we'd be into 'recovery' mode in savings, or do we just get the cheapest thing for now and worry about getting a bigger/better TV in like a year??

  • @CLoGreenEyes - Sorry about your purse and your car Window!!  That really just stinks big time!!

@Blue - Hope your interview goes well tomorrow!!

@BreMR - School stuff is always more expensive than you expect (that's what I remember from buying my own in college).  Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend!!

  • @Dignity100‌ I'm sorry your TV crapped out on you! That sucks. I have no recommendations about how to handle getting a new one, but that's a lot of options you have!
  • OHAI! I'm back from vacation :) We had an amazing week and have ranked this trip as our 3rd favorite (after South Africa and Germany/France). Getting up today was nearly impossible and I would rather be anywhere but at work! I missed you guys!!!

    **********

@CLoGreenEyes - OMG that's awful! People freaking suck, I'm so sorry that happened to you.

@Blue - Good luck at your interview!

@BreMR - How far into PLL are you? I was so excited to have last week's episode waiting for me on the DVR when I got home :)

@Dignity100 - I haven't bought a new TV in about 6 years but I think they're pretty affordable nowadays. At least compared to what we spent on ours back then they are! I wouldn't worry too much about newer technology coming out soon, it's a TV, as long as it's decent quality and gets the job done, that's really all you need.

  • @swazzle I JUST started season 4 yesterday, which is the last season on Netflix so I'm guessing they're on season 5 currently? I haven't looked ANYTHING up to even try to figure it out because I don't want to accidentally find anything out. I did just see previews when I was watching Harry Potter not that long ago that kind of gave away a HUGE plot twist, that I won't say in case anybody else is watching earlier seasons.
    image
  • @Swazzle - that's my thoughts actually - just buy a decent TV that's what we need right now.  My TV was my Christmas gift from my parents back in 2007.  Ex and I had broke up, he took the TV, I had a little 19 inch tube TV thing until my parents got me my Christmas gift (it was a black Friday deal).  It is an off name brand name and was like a 1080i (not 1080p) and ya know what - it did just fine for the 6 years it lived.  I thought it would/should live longer.  Thanks, you just made me feel better about things - I wanted to buy a decent TV that would get us through at least 3-5 years before 'wanting/needing' a new one.  I'm still trying to decide if I should just wait for a black Friday deal though. . .

Glad you had a wonderful vacation!!  I'm so jealous of all the 'excursions' you get to take!!

@BreMR - so tell us what's going on in PLL land.  We won't spoil anything!!  Just trying to figure out where you are :)

  • I wanted to sleep in sooo bad this morning!

This weekend was fun. Friday night we went out to this Mexican restaurant called CANS and had pineapple infused tequila. It was noms. Then we went to another bar afterwards and had beer with friends for their bday party.

Saturday we went to CrossFit and had a wedding shower that night for one of H's friends. It was fun to meet more friends of his from college.

Sunday was a chill day, H had to work all day so I took Maddux over to my parent's house and played with him all day. Then we made smores!
  • @BreMR - Yes, season 5 is on TV right now. I hate spoilers so I would have been so bummed if I were you!

@Dignity100 - Exactly! You should also check out Amazon and even Groupon sometimes has really good deals on TVs.

  • I had the best weekend!!

Started out Friday with a trip to the barn to ride Bo. He was such a good boy and it was one of our better rides.

Saturday we traveled up to MA to my parents' house for my dad's birthday. He had no idea my siblings, BIL, FI and I were coming. We all went mini golfing and had yummy steak and ended the day at our favorite family homemade ice cream place.

Sunday it was our belated family engagement party. We went by the shore in CT along the Long Island Sound and had a lunch full of lobster rolls. We then proceeded to walk along the shore and pick up lots of pretty rocks.

On the negative side, my TV died and the woman I live with is driving me crazy. She's claiming that FI can't stay much right now because "he takes showers and that drives up the water bill." She quit her job a few weeks ago and hasn't been able to hold a job since. She smokes a LOT and then feeds the dogs quality human food while also leaving lights and televisions on. I'm sorry, but you could be saving money a million other ways. She's driving me nuts.

  • geez, @CLoGreenEyes ... that really sucks.  I'm glad they didn't get a chance to use your debit card anymore than that, though.  my mom leaves her purse in the car all the time like that.  I tell her not to, but she just doesn't think that it'll ever get stolen.  I worked for a tag agency in college (a place in OK where you get your car tags/registration/titles and driver's licenses) and we had people coming in all the time to replace licenses stolen out of their cars.

I had a very busy weekend.  I was off on Thursday and Friday.  Wednesday evening I had an awful migraine, but Thursday I was feeling better.  I had a dental procedure on Thursday and I am so proud, I took it like a champ!  The nitrous gas helped a lot.  ;)  H was also off on Thursday, so we were able to go get lunch together and run a few errands.

Friday we took a few of our Spanish group to a short conference.  it was a long drive, the beds were awful (stayed at a campgrounds) and I was having the worst allergies!  I am very allergic to dust mites, and the campgrounds was so dusty.  as soon as I'd walk outside from one of the buildings, I would start to feel better.  it's crazy!  we got back late Saturday night.

yesterday I stayed really busy.  I was up at 7:00 AM to do a work out (JM 30DS!) and start some laundry.  I made some orange spiced beef carnitas to cook while we were at church, and they smelled so good all morning.  we had our bed delivered (one of the under-slats broke, so the store picked it up to fix it and then delivered it on Sunday afternoon) and I managed to fit in a nice nap yesterday.

today has GOT to be the day I give my notice.  I'm going to hunt down my new-boss when he gets here around 9:00 AM and confirm, then bust open my current-boss's door to give her my resignation.

OH!  H and I went to Office Depot yesterday to get some ink for the printer, and we picked out a new chair for our home desk (I need a place to work while I am in my PMP class until November, and we needed a new chair anyway) and I picked out a ton of cute office stuff for my new job!  going to wait to see what I need after I start.  it's THIS LINE (Blue Herringone) from seejanework.  love it!
  • Good morning ladies :-)

My weekend was pretty busy. On Friday I got together with some of my teacher friends and we worked on our class websites over wine, cheese and crackers. It was really funny because only half of us know what we are doing- so there were tons of laughs and lots of "Jesus God, I can't!!" Friday night FI and I went out to eat with FMIL at "our" restaurant. We watched Divergent when we got home. I thought it was horrible, FI liked it but he didn't read the book obviously.

Saturday was all about catching up on errands. Laundry, Market and Car wash were all done. I also looked at wedding dresses for about 2 hours. I can't decide. Saturday night we watched reruns of Undercover Boss. FI loves that show haha

Sunday was my cousin's bridal shower! My aunts and I have been planning this for a couple months (since cousin's mom/my aunt had passed away in May) and wanted to make sure it was an awesome bridal shower for her, especially since she has had such a hard summer. Everything went very well, but I could tell other guests were a bit judgey about her registry choices. She did a myregistry.com type with very few brick and mortar stores. It was all online shopping. So she got a lot of cards with a picture of what they had bought her. I'm just glad it's over and now only one more month til the wedding!

Don't know what to do today- either beach or wedding dress decisions. I hate decisions!
  • @500days, what's myregistry.com? I'm confused as to why guests were judgey.

Daisypath Anniversary tickers Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • It's an online registry that allows you to create registries for many stores. For instance on my cousin's she had anthropologie, williams sonoma, target, world market, overstock.com, amazon.com, etsy.com. It was a lot of weird decor stuff- she doesn't cook and refused to register for anything kitchen related.

The major problem with the registry is that its too much work for the guest. You have to go back to myregistry.com to mark that you bought the gift. If you don't it will not update on it's own and the bride/couple will receive duplicates. Oh and it advertises honeyfunds and cash funds.....she had those too. THE HORROR.
  • @Dignity100‌ right now Hannah's mom is #1 suspect for MURDER, and the girls may have tracked down board shorts' college :) also sorry about your tv :(

@CocoBellaF‌ ooh where are you at with the 30ds?! Today was my last day of 1!

  • Good Morning Ladies

This weekend kind of sucked.  Thursday night was H's grandfather's viewing and Friday morning we went to the military cemetery for the ceremony and burial.  It was a full military service with the guns and everything.  SO SAD.  I hate death.  We met H's family downtown at the riverwalk for dinner and then came home.

Saturday I went to the gym, we did some errands and then we met H's family for dinner.  We took them to our new house that's being built...it's just the foundation right now but they wanted to see it haha

Sunday morning I went for a run and then we had to go to H's grandfather's house because his mom was freaking out about leaving "stuff" there...gotta love the family drama that happen when someone passes away. They all go home today though so things will start to quiet back down.

My favorite part of the weekend was booking our hotel last night for our 1 year anniversary next weekend.  We are going to stay in downtown Austin and go to a nice dinner.  I'm having a small replica of our cake from Whole Foods made and we have 1 bottle of champagne from the wedding that we've been saving.  Oh and we are officially "trying" now.  I scared shitless and excited at the same time.

  • My weekend overall was pretty good.  Friday night I went to a friend's birthday dinner, it was a lot of fun.  It always annoys me though at how it can take to settle a bill sometimes.

Saturday H & I slept in, it was nice, then we went to Home Depot and Lowes to find flooring and backsplash.  We found stuff we love so I think H is going to start working on the backsplash this weekend.  Yay! I also did some grocery shopping, then we went to dinner and then just relaxed at home.

Yesterday was my birthday, we didn't do anything too special.  We worked on the yard and flowers a bit.  We spackeled the spare bedroom(aka the nursery) & looked at some of the samples of colors we picked out to paint it at some point. :-) We also met up with my family for dinner, which was nice I hadn't seen my family since the wedding. Dinner was fun and then we stopped on the way home for some frozen yogurt.  H got me a big picture frame with some of our wedding pictures in it, 3 charms for my pandora braclet and he said the next house project was going to be working on my dream closet.  Yay!!!!

I wish I had taken off today.....

  • @bethsmiles - so you got the job??  I was out of town and didn't keep up if you said.  and how exciting, to look at rings!!!  I still like to look at rings.  I might buy a rose gold one sometime.  I like variety, and it's the only piece of jewelry I wear (unless you count a watch).

@BreMR - I did it for the first time in months yesterday, but I'm going to mix it up with JM Yoga Meltdown, Insanity Recovery, and maybe some C25K.  :)  I know I need to incorporate weights, if only for bone density health.
  • @allusive007 - yay!!!  how exciting!!!  good luck.  ;)

@Swazzle - Welcome back...missed you around these parts. @Blue&White - Good luck! @CocoBellaF - Pretty! Good luck with the notice today. @bethsmiles - So sorry to hear about the car. Great news on the ring front though! @doubleSS07- Sorry about the funeral. Hugs to you. Where in Austin are you staying? It is one of my favorite cities. @allusive007 - Fingers crossed...have fun in the interim. ;) ------------------------------------------ I'm BEAT. We spent all weekend working on the house. We had some family help so we dug up a dead tree, dug 70% of the posts for the fence, ripped out some kitchen cabinets, ripped out a ugly book shelf in a bedroom, I ripped out all of the wood trim (and now can't use my knees without major pain...even with knee pads), H and I also refinished about 1300 sq ft of wood floor and 80% of the wallpaper in the kitchen is down. So tired. ----------------- ***eta- damn it, I had paragraphs.

Thanks @CocoBellaF & @Minskat30! I went of BC about 4 months ago and we decided we weren't going to try, but we weren't going to prevent either - just see what happens. Last month I was almost 2 weeks late and we got really excited but kept getting negative tests. Turned out I was just really late. As dissapointing as it was, I think it was a good thing because it made us both realize how much we really do want to be parents...so now we are actively trying.
  • @minskat30 we are staying at the Hyatt near 4th and close to Congress.  Wow you guys did ALOT of work.

@Swazzle yay you're back!  missed your face.

@clogreeneyes that really sucks about your purse.  I'm glad you caught the card in time to shut it down before they spent any more of your money!

@CLoGreenEyes - OMG I'm so sorry to hear that. It happened to me once and I felt so violated! Hope the gas was the end of it.

    @Peaseblossom55 - Happy Belated Birthday!!

My weekend was ok. Dropped my sis and family off at the Airport Saturday morning. Their MAC flight from Baltimore to Germany was canceled due to fighting in Irak???? Scary stuff. They didn't end up flying out til late last night.

Saw TMNT last night at the new AMC Prime experience theater and it was awesome!! The seats recline and the sound was crazy! The movie was pretty funny too. I wasn't expecting too much from it but I really liked it.

I had a super busy and crazy weekend.

Thursday night I went to my BF's baseball game. I won $150 at the 50/50 raffle (I have never won anything like that, so I was SO happy), and my BF had the winning catch of the championship game! WOOHOO! It was a great night.

Friday I cleaned the house and went to a Mexican restaurant with my BF's family. I had an amazing dinner with a strawberry margarita. It was delicious.

Saturday my BF and I went to our friend's cabin that is only twenty minutes from our town. It was so beautiful. The cabin is on a private lake, and the house is gorgeous. (HOLY COW. I WAS IMPRESSED.) My BF has been friends with this guy for four or five years, and we had no idea he "had money". I suppose that is a really good testament to his character.  We stayed overnight and left Sunday morning.

Sunday was a very relaxing day. I had a bloody mary with my parents on their deck, and my dad grilled up steaks for dinner.

    @CLoGreenEyes

That is horrible! I just hope that the person who stole it was truly in NEED of that money. You never know what kind of circumstances drives a person to commit a crime. I know that no crime is fair, but I always try to think of the other person's circumstances. That was a good idea to change your locks right away! Sending you good wishes for better days ahead.

I always love school shopping. My mom used to laugh at me when I was younger because I LOVED going shopping for the supplies and organizing it when I got home. She said she knew I would become a teacher someday with my obsession. Haha. I will be going school shopping until I retire MANY, MANY years from now.

Good for you for working your butt off! I haven't worked out since my spring semester ended. I need to get back in the gym ASAP.

  • @doubleSS07 - Oooh, good choice.  That is a great location.

@CLoGreenEyes - I'm really sorry about the break in.  People suck sometimes.

  • @CLoGreenEyes I'm so sorry about your purse/wallet/car! That sucks. :( I'm glad you were able to get everything locked down quickly before they went on a spending spree with your debit card.

    @bethsmiles Yay for e-ring shopping!!!!

@BreMr What did you think of Outlander? I watched it Sunday morning on Youtube and so far it seems to be a pretty good representation of the book. I wish they had more episodes available.

My weekend was pretty good. Friday night we puppysat Maddux for @southernpeach89. He and Cinders played NONSTOP. We had to physically force them apart and separate them so they could relax and cool down and take a short nap. Those two just don't know when or how to quit playing.

Saturday I ran a ton of of errands while FI dug up old roots and some bushes we didn't want in the yard. I picked up our FG gift and some other things I've needed to finish some wedding DIY projects and returned a few things too.

Sunday was another "get all the things done" day. I painted three of the hallway doors and finished up some trim work and also hung a few pictures. FI hung up the new light and new shelving unit in our bathroom. I also worked on a couple DIY projects for the wedding and FINALLY finished addressing invitations except for two because I ran out of return stamps. That night we visited my parents house and Cinders played with Maddux and Chey Chey until Maddux and Chey finally just gave up and called it a night...obviously our dog eats rocket fuel because she didn't quit running around until we put her in the car to go home.
