Not Engaged Yet

Well, I POAS....

And guess what? NOT Pregnant.

I took one last night and this morning, just to make sure. I am so relieved and happy that I cannot even describe it. However, I do feel kind of silly for freaking out about it now that's it's over and done with. It was a learning experience.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support y'all showed me. I really appreciate all of the advice and vibes and thoughts while I was going though this. It made it easier for me and I don't know what I would have done without y'all.

Also, of course, a few hours after I take my second test, guess what happens? My period starts. Sometimes I hate my body.

  • I'm so glad everything worked out!!

    Anniversary

  • Haha it WOULD start right after you take the test. Sorry you were stressing, but glad it worked out!
  • Yay for not being pregnant! Funny story to go along with this:

Someone told BF about this porn that was funny so we watched it. There is this huge guy and while he's going at it with this girl she is saying shit like "just go inside me, I'm on the pill, just go" and more stuff like that. At the last second he pulls out and as he's going he yells "NO BABIES!"

Every time I get my period I say to BF "NO BABIES" and we high five.

  • Yay for no babies!!!
  • I'm so glad everything worked out!
  • YAY!!  At least peeing on a stick scared your period into starting.

  • Thanks guys!

@caseface5 - That is hilarious. I don't think I would have kept from laughing if I saw that. Somewhat related, I used to tell BF when my period started by saying "Guess what! You're not a dad!"

@CLoGreenEyes and @Dignity100- Seriously. Figures that it started right after! It annoys the crap out of me.

About 6 months ago I went through the same thing-- I was a little older than you are now, in graduate school instead of undergrad, and FI and I were looking at rings, so I probably would have kept the baby  had I been pregnant (I probably have a medical thing that is going to make it hard for me to get pregnant, which was significant in this decision). Nonetheless, I was TERRIFIED. It was NOT the right timing.

As silly as I felt for freaking out before hand, I was also strangely glad that we had to go through it. It kind of... I don't know, made me figure out how I really felt about things like that. And fiance (then bf) was great through the whole thing.

So... growing experience/ adult stuff/ yay for handling it all so well, and all that.
  • Glad it turned out the way you wanted. Now go have a glass of wine!

  • That happened to me before except right as I went to take the test my period started so I didn't even need to take it!
    What a relief for you!

  • What a relief for you. Now go drink!
  • I'm so glad everything worked out they way you wanted. Having to wait and see...gosh that can pile a lot of added stress on!
  • I'm so relieved for you!!!!!

Funny story that I've been waiting to tell until you updated.... Yesterday I had to go to the OB/GYN about a breast issue. After the exam, we went over the situation and blah blah blah... So he asks if I have any other concerns and I mention that I've been on Skyla for over a year with no period and then all of a sudden I had one last month and it was brutal. Well, apparently that PLUS one of the breast issues he discovered during my exam caused his response to be "you need to take a pregnancy test."

I'm pretty sure all of the color drained from my face and my jaw dropped. I had peed when I first arrived for my appointment so I had to sit in the waiting room and drink water until the urge came back.

Fortunately, it was negative. So you're not the only one who has scares like that! And I'm 29 years old and married. It was terrifying, though.

  • So glad it worked out the way you wanted!
  • I'm glad everything worked out! Everything would have been ok regardless but I'm glad you were able to POAS and confirm (with mother nature confirmation later!). We would have been here for you no matter what!

  • It should be known that periods are known to hide until you try to pee on a stick!

Best POAS story: in high school, I bought pregnancy tests at the mall, walked across the mall to use them, opened the box and it was empty. So I had to go back to the store and exchange them. Awkward.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Wow, I missed a lot while I was gone! Glad everything worked out for you! Having to POAS is definitely a scary moment when you aren't sure what you want the outcome to be... I'm super paranoid about getting preggers, so I always keep a few baby sticks on hand.

  • Thanks everyone! I'm very glad it turned out this way too!

@eilis1228- It was pretty scary. Those 2 minutes waiting for the result was so nerve wracking. I'm super paranoid too. I'm actually on BC pills instead of another kind of BC because I need that natural reminder that I'm not pregnant so I don't freak out.

  • Oh I definitely understand. I've been on BC for about 10 years now, and I still freak out if my body feels at all "off." You just never know!
