Is your dress white or ivory (or something else)?

Re: Is your dress white or ivory (or something else)?

  • My dress is ivory. True white is way too pale for me.
  • Mine is ivory and I love it because white makes me look like a ghost!

  • FH wanted me in a traditional, white dress. I tried to tell him that white wouldn't look as good on me and I would probably get an ivory dress but he was insistent. He came with me to the dress shop and after we agreed on the one and the following conversation happened:

Me: You're ok that it isn't white?
    Him: It isn't?
Me: No, this dress is ivory.
Him: Oh...I can't even tell the difference.

That was the end of that conversation.

  • I'm going with ivory, stark white has a strange way of giving a cheap icky look.. from what I've seen anyhow.

There aren't many white women who can wear pure white and pull it off. If you live in an area where they mostly choose off-white shades because of that, it makes sense for the shop to only stock that. All shades of white look fine together at a wedding. Nobody should care about if your dress is pure white anymore. Try all the colors on and see what you like! That should be the only dictator of what color your dress is.

  • mine is ivory. I am very fair-complexion so this was best for me!
  • Champagne here.

I found that it looked best with my skin tone, it's a rather warm colour of 'white'.
