Really disappointed

We planned to do our ceremony outside on Saturday.  The weather has been amazing all summer and it looked like it was going to work out well.  The forecast now includes a Special Weather Statement saying this will be the longest and most sustained period of heat for the entire summer.  Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 90s with over 60% humidity making the real feel about 105 degrees.  They recommend not being outside in the afternoon for extended periods.

So, we are moving the ceremony inside to the reception space.  Everyone will sit at their tables for the ceremony.  I know it was always a possibility that the weather would not cooperate and we would end up inside, but my FI and I can't help but be disappointed that we won't be outside in the beautiful garden space.  Now I need to figure out the logistics of moving the ceremony inside and try to find someplace we can do pictures inside before the ceremony.

Doesn't it just figure that we have had 3 months of beautiful weather this summer and this weekend is the one that makes being outside impossible?

Re: Really disappointed

  • Aw, I'm sorry to hear that.
  • That's too bad! But I'm sure it will still be a blast! Plus you want everyone to be comfortable :)

  • I'm sorry! I bet you anything that once Saturday is here, you won't even care about it at all! You are going to look gorgeous, be surrounded by your nearest and dearest, and will be marrying the love of your life! (And then you are going to come back to us with pictures).

Any way you could take some pictures outside before the ceremony and just be conscious of how long you are out there? If not, I'm sure your photog will have suggestions. Any way you could talk to them today about a new game plan? I know I always am much more comfortable when I have everything planned out.

  • I really commend you for listening to the weather warnings and moving things inside. That's seriously really awesome that you put the health and comfort of your WP, yourselves, and your guests before your "vision" of the perfect day. I've been to weddings where everyone is forced to sit outside in 90+ degree heat, sweating and miserable, and then looking like crap afterwards with sweat stains on the fancy clothes, makeup running, etc. That's not an enjoyable wedding and it sure ain't pretty! Your day will be wonderful regardless. Don't feel bad!

GAH that does suck, and it is totally ok for you to be disappointed a little bit.  I think any of us would be.  And I agree with @novella1186, you are doing the right thing by considering everyone's comfort ahead of your "vision".   I like the idea of taking pictures, if you can, or finding a way to use the space somehow.  It will still be BEAUTIFUL!!!!
  • Aww that sucks. I'm sure it'll all workout beautifully. Hoping for at least some dry hours for your pics!
  • Stay hydrated!
  • Here's hoping that there is a kickass rainbow shot after those storms clear out for you!  Happy wedding week!
  • That stinks!! I hope the weather report changes before the weekend!
  • That sucks. It was unseasonably cold this spring so we had to make the call to move our ceremony indoors the day before. DH and I did spend about 15 minutes outside doing pictures just the two of use (see avatar, there's ice on the water). Will that be a possibility for you? Are there any big, shady trees you could take pictures under? We did the rest of our pictures indoors with some of the decorative stuff (flowers, draping and twinkle lights) used as the backdrop.
