Music Apps? Music on your phone?

Our reception is in a private room at a restaurant. It's a small room basically filled up by the tables and chairs (25 people) so there is no dance floor or DJ. however, I'd like to play a few songs right when we arrive, like at least a "first dance" and possibly parent dances. We own a bluetooth speaker that connects to our phone, but what app do I use to have those songs ready? I plan to just Pandora for the rest of the evening as background music (I have the subscription with no commercials) but not sure how to get the other songs I want since you can't chose on Pandora. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm technologically challenged- thanks!!

  • Pay for a spotify account. It's $10 a month and you can create custom playlists with no ads :)
  • Yes, what cupcait said! Our friend is a DJ, and he told us about Spotify (he does not use it on professional gigs lol). He uses the app when he has people over his place. It is a pretty cool app.

  • You could also see if the songs are available on GrooveShark, and use the TinyShark app on your phone. Smaller catalog than Spotify but it's free.

Or just download your 3 spotlight songs off iTunes and then switch to Pandora after.

  • If you have itunes, there is a way to transfer the mp4 to an mp3 and then load it directly to your phone (google would have to be your friend, I do not remember what program I used, but it was free online).

listentoyoutube.com is a way to download the video to an mp3 directly and it will play on your standard music player on your phone (but can be hit or miss due to video quality-- I found doing the "lyric" videos always came out cleaner.

and then yes, spotify is great! The free app will have ads, but if you are only going to play a 3 songs I don't think that would be an issue since there is not an ad after every song, and then switch to pandora for the rest of the evening. And honesty when I am playing my own playlist on spotify I do not recall any ads or at least not that often. I get more ads when I am using a random playlist.
