Weekend funtimes

Guys, I don't even work right now and I'm so glad it's the weekend.  I just spent three days helping a friend pack up her apartment and then driving the U Haul from VA to my place in JC, then from my house across Manhattan, through the Midtown Tunnel (where we got stopped for inspection, oh joy) and wayyyy the heck into Queens.  My friend was afraid to drive a truck in the city so I did it.  Watch out New Yorkers, Jersey Girl in a big-ass truck coming through!

In fun news, I just looked at an alternate floor plan in our building and we totally might move into a place with a second bedroom in a couple months.  It would be a nice spot for a guest bed and a home office for me.  Fi thinks I'll be more likely to come home at a normal time if I have a good place to work from home, and he's sort of right.  I think it's really sweet that he is so concerned about getting enough time with me.

This weekend, we are beach camping at Rehoboth Beach, DE, and we will be going to Dogfish Head Brewery.  I'm super psyched.  I love me some beer, and some food, and some camping time with friends.  AND I get to lay on the beach.  Win win win win.

What are you lovely folks up to this weekend?

Re: Weekend funtimes

  • Jealous that you're going to Dogfish Head! I love their beer. And camping is always a good time!

I was supposed to have my bachelorette party this weekend but that fell through over some completely BS drama among my friends. So instead, FI is taking me to dinner tonight with a few of our friends and we're getting hibachi!

Tomorrow we're going to a Buffalo Bills preseason game. I hate football but FI loves it and I won the tickets from work. It'll be fun to go and actually watch the game in person and drink beers and eat lots of food.

I took Monday and Tuesday off so I will probably get ALL the wedding stuff I've been procrastinating on done during those three days. Hopefully that will bring my stress level down.

  • Your weekend sounds awesome, @JCBride2015!  Good luck with the move!

DH & I have been trying to get more involved at our church (we changed churches a year ago shortly after we got married, so it's been hard to feel like we "fit").  Tonight they're having a BBQ for all married & engaged couples to kick off the school year, so he's in the kitchen working on a potato side salad to bring.

We're hosting poker night tomorrow night, which means I need to do some good house cleaning tomorrow (it's overdue).  I'm a little nervous about poker night because the participants are DH, me, FIL, BIL, DH's cousin, her husband, and her dad.  I love everyone in this mix EXCEPT for FIL.  He complains about everything.  Last time we had poker night, the "rule" was that once you're out of chips, you're out.  FIL lost his chips and tried to buy his way back in.  Argument between DH & FIL ensued.  Super awkward.  So, I just hope this doesn't happen again.  And if it does, I'll just do this in the other room

Sunday our church is having an info session for people who want to volunteer with high school youth group.  I did this when I first got out of college, and it was incredibly rewarding.  I havent' been able to help out for various reasons for the past 4 years, so I really hope this works out.

  • Mmm... Dogfish Head. FI and I just finalized the beer list for our wedding and that is definitely on there!

I work all weekend, but it's my last working weekend before the wedding.  And I work an early shift on Saturday so I'll be home in plenty of time to watch the new Dr. Who (I've already been gorging myself on the reruns this week; thank you BBC America for making me totally unproductive!)

Our RSVP deadline is today and I'm off work Monday so I'll start making calls that evening to any non-RSVPers. We shouldn't have too many of those though. I checked our spreadsheet yesterday and I think we're down to 10 responses needed. Hopefully most will land in our mailbox today or tomorrow.

  • You're only short 10 responses, @Simky906? BRAVO to your guests!  I'm jealous!    I think we were short 10 just on DH's side!
  • I work all weekend. I do hope to work on my mini bar some more, watch Doctor Who and League with H, and gather everything I need to get my drivers liscense on Wednesday.

  • @cupcait927, I'm sorry to hear your bachelorette party fell through.  Mine was lame, so I wish I could come up there and we could have a kickass party!
  • @sarahbear31 Your HIMYM gif makes me love you even more.  Hopefully poker night is drama-free.  And, I hope the youth group volunteering works out!  Even though I later became turned off to religion for other reasons, my church youth group was a great, secure place for me as a teenager.  I still very much look up to our YG leaders, a married couple.

@cupcait927 I'm sorry your bach got canceled.  :-/  I would be super bummed about that.  But I hope your date night is awesome!  I could nom all the hibachi all the time.  So good.

  • I gotta figure out which Pats game I'm going to buy tickets to for FI's birthday.

And clean. A lot. I say I'm going to do it all the time. I do half of it, get bored/distracted and do something else. I GOTTA CLEAN DAMMIT.

My birthday is next week, so my mom is coming down to visit this weekend (I live about 90 minutes south of her). I'm super excited to hang out with my mom, and of course, free birthday dinner.

ETA: I love Dogfish! That sounds like an awesome weekend JC!
  • @sarahbear31 Yes, I was really pleased that so many have come back! It's funny that the 'offenders' include folks like one of my BM and FI's uncle (who has already booked his hotel room and transcontinental flight). Yes, we know you're coming but we need your meal choice please!
  • Currently watching SYTTD before H comes home and makes me turn it off.

Tomorrow we are going to his sister's house to hang out with her family. They have been graciously storing a ton of wedding gifts for us until we finally find a house, so we want to trade some stuff out. Dinner with friends tomorrow night.

Either the beach or a bike ride on Sunday.

  • Everyone sounds like they have some good plans!

Tonight I have a wax appointment and then date night! So FI and I will be doing dinner at our fave Thai place and then maybe a movie if we are up to it.

Tomorrow, I am meeting with my cousin who is making my jewelry for the wedding (she is a designer) to come up with ideas. We may have some friends over for some drinks tomorrow night.

Sunday I plan on doing a whole lotta NOTHING with a side of my ass on the couch watching Real Housewives and shoving food in my face.

  • On my way, @lolo83!

@JCbride2015‌, politics and religion aside, I bet we'd get along great. Party on! And I actually had lunch with one of my former youth group kids last week. She's now in grad school, so hardly a kid anymore.

    @kat1114‌ , happy early birthday!
  • DH is supposed to be taking me out for sushi tonight to make up for me having to take the bus 3 days (4 hours each day) this week. I'm hoping I can convince him I also need frozen yogurt. Tomorrow I have the house to myself all day. I'm going to yoga in the morning then I have to write a progress report for my committee meeting and read a bunch of science papers. Sunday we are supposed to be going to the fair at the Pacific National Exhibition for the first time since we moved to BC. They have a Game of Thrones exhibit which is the main reason we are going this year. I'm not a huge fan of fairs because I can't go on rides due to motion sickness, but I am looking forward to the delicious-but-terrible-for-you food.

  • I am going to be doing wedding projects with my aunt tomorrow and D should be going and hanging out with his dad.

I have to figure out how much its going to cost to ship a set of craft beer glasses back, because D's BM dropped out and him and his wife FSIL are refusing to attend because D is standing up for me because they seem to think that their opinions matter in our relationship and really they don't and we asked them nicely to drop how much they hate me before it got nasty.

Well, I'm suppose to work all weekend.  However, there is a 80% change of heavy rain tomorrow.   Not really golfing type weather.  I can't say I would be upset if they called me off.

I just got back from Aspen.  I got my RD outfit and then DH is golfing right now.  We might go to dinner later, we will see.    Cleaning lady is just about finishing up.  I might grab a drink when she leaves.

ETA - Yeah Rehoboth.   My parents have a place there.

  • @cupcait927, that really blows about your party, I'm sorry. But hibachi will be an awesome date night, I LOVE Hibachi. There is a spot that FI and I love to go to in Brooklyn. It is actually right near my old apartment!

JC, your weekend sounds fun! Tomorrow I want to get a workout in, then we are going to a PPD wedding. I'm actually looking forward to it because a bunch of our college friends will be there, and since it is in White Plains, a bunch of us are staying at a nearby hotel.

I had my summer half-day Friday today, and I went to the Farmer's Market with my coworker bestie. I got cheese, lemonade, and some really sexy (I hope) hot sauce. Then I went shopping for a dress for tomorrow (I hate it, I look like a purple cow, I'm exchanging it for workout stuff), then got a bunch of stuff from Victoria's Secret.  Sunday, we are going from the hotel to Long Island to my friends housewarming party. He and his gf recently moved in together, and apparently live near the beach so it will be a beach/housewarming party. As much as I'm looking forward to the beach, I am NOT happy with my beach bod. Sigh. Oh well, my 45 day challenge/competition starts on Monday!

@lolo883 - 3 weeks!!!! Eeeeeeeeeek that is so exciting! 9 months exactly today for us! YAY!!!!

As for tonight, I'm trying to survive. Some of you may have read my posts this week. I'm sipping some beers right now.

  • Be prepared to be jealous! DH is making me Kraft Mac and Cheese for dinner! I am low on energy and have a slight fever and figured Kraft will solve it all.

  • That sounds awesome! I love Dogfish Head.

I have a super busy weekend! Tomorrow is my shower, bachelorette, AND birthday!

I use to love the blue box.  DH switched us over to Velveeta.    Doesn't matter, I like mac-n-cheese from box.

  • Working tomorrow because I work Tues-Sat. Hopefully we'll have some fun on Sun-Mon. I hope the wearer stays nice and we'll do some hiking.
  • FI is out at his bach party right now, having the best BBQ around and whiskey and food trucks without me. So I am pampering myself: just had a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a steamy book.

Now I"m having cookies and texting bridesmaid about bachelorette stuff for tomorrow. There will be sangria and mimosas and waffles.

Y'ALL LOLO AND I ARE GETTING MARRIED IN THREE WEEKS. (Sadly, not to each other. Lolo is a hottie.)

  • Confession: I copied and pasted my "what I'm doing this weekend" blurb from another post.
Tomorrow FI will be out most of the day tomorrow at work, which means I can game all day :) and then on Sunday he has to work again (but not as much as on Saturday) so more alone, stay at home time.

  • WEEKEND WEEKEND WEEKEND!

FI's working today, hopefully a busy-ish day since there's some sort of bike street party or something with a Skynyrd cover band + Skynyrd's actual drummer... so it will be a busier day than his first week has been. He had a busier night last night but still WAY off what he's used to.

I'm about to get my lazy ass up off this chair and go be even more lazy playing FFXIV on his PS4 since he's not here though. :D

Tomorrow we're going to brunch at FI's restaurant. He's going to be taking notes on how to downsize it and make it better and shake it up. I'm going to be shoving shrimp'n'grits and whatever else I feel like in my ginormous face-hole and will be a fat happy cat by the end of it.
