Guys, I don't even work right now and I'm so glad it's the weekend. I just spent three days helping a friend pack up her apartment and then driving the U Haul from VA to my place in JC, then from my house across Manhattan, through the Midtown Tunnel (where we got stopped for inspection, oh joy) and wayyyy the heck into Queens. My friend was afraid to drive a truck in the city so I did it. Watch out New Yorkers, Jersey Girl in a big-ass truck coming through!
In fun news, I just looked at an alternate floor plan in our building and we totally might move into a place with a second bedroom in a couple months. It would be a nice spot for a guest bed and a home office for me. Fi thinks I'll be more likely to come home at a normal time if I have a good place to work from home, and he's sort of right. I think it's really sweet that he is so concerned about getting enough time with me.
This weekend, we are beach camping at Rehoboth Beach, DE, and we will be going to Dogfish Head Brewery. I'm super psyched. I love me some beer, and some food, and some camping time with friends. AND I get to lay on the beach. Win win win win.
What are you lovely folks up to this weekend?
"I'm not a rude bitch. I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."
Re: Weekend funtimes
Jealous that you're going to Dogfish Head! I love their beer. And camping is always a good time!
I was supposed to have my bachelorette party this weekend but that fell through over some completely BS drama among my friends. So instead, FI is taking me to dinner tonight with a few of our friends and we're getting hibachi!
Tomorrow we're going to a Buffalo Bills preseason game. I hate football but FI loves it and I won the tickets from work. It'll be fun to go and actually watch the game in person and drink beers and eat lots of food.
I took Monday and Tuesday off so I will probably get ALL the wedding stuff I've been procrastinating on done during those three days. Hopefully that will bring my stress level down.
DH & I have been trying to get more involved at our church (we changed churches a year ago shortly after we got married, so it's been hard to feel like we "fit"). Tonight they're having a BBQ for all married & engaged couples to kick off the school year, so he's in the kitchen working on a potato side salad to bring.
We're hosting poker night tomorrow night, which means I need to do some good house cleaning tomorrow (it's overdue). I'm a little nervous about poker night because the participants are DH, me, FIL, BIL, DH's cousin, her husband, and her dad. I love everyone in this mix EXCEPT for FIL. He complains about everything. Last time we had poker night, the "rule" was that once you're out of chips, you're out. FIL lost his chips and tried to buy his way back in. Argument between DH & FIL ensued. Super awkward. So, I just hope this doesn't happen again. And if it does, I'll just do this in the other room
Sunday our church is having an info session for people who want to volunteer with high school youth group. I did this when I first got out of college, and it was incredibly rewarding. I havent' been able to help out for various reasons for the past 4 years, so I really hope this works out.
Mmm... Dogfish Head. FI and I just finalized the beer list for our wedding and that is definitely on there!
I work all weekend, but it's my last working weekend before the wedding. And I work an early shift on Saturday so I'll be home in plenty of time to watch the new Dr. Who (I've already been gorging myself on the reruns this week; thank you BBC America for making me totally unproductive!)
Our RSVP deadline is today and I'm off work Monday so I'll start making calls that evening to any non-RSVPers. We shouldn't have too many of those though. I checked our spreadsheet yesterday and I think we're down to 10 responses needed. Hopefully most will land in our mailbox today or tomorrow.
I'm the fuck out.
Everyone sounds like they have some good plans!
Tonight I have a wax appointment and then date night! So FI and I will be doing dinner at our fave Thai place and then maybe a movie if we are up to it.
Tomorrow, I am meeting with my cousin who is making my jewelry for the wedding (she is a designer) to come up with ideas. We may have some friends over for some drinks tomorrow night.
Sunday I plan on doing a whole lotta NOTHING with a side of my ass on the couch watching Real Housewives and shoving food in my face.
@JCbride2015, politics and religion aside, I bet we'd get along great. Party on! And I actually had lunch with one of my former youth group kids last week. She's now in grad school, so hardly a kid anymore.
@kat1114 , happy early birthday!
Now I"m having cookies and texting bridesmaid about bachelorette stuff for tomorrow. There will be sangria and mimosas and waffles.
Y'ALL LOLO AND I ARE GETTING MARRIED IN THREE WEEKS. (Sadly, not to each other. Lolo is a hottie.)
