Goooood morning, TK!

Good morning :)

How was everyone's weekend?

I know there were parties, @lolo883 how was the bach?

Is @Banana468 posting from the maternity ward yet?

What about our ailing ladies?  Thinking of you all, and hoping you're doing well!

Things were pretty boring here.  We went to lunch at one of FI's jobs sites Friday.  They did bbq, and it was good.  Being the only female on a construction site is always interesting.

FI had a mini-meltdown about some wedding stuff, so long story short, we might be changing our venue to accommodate more guests.  And that venue is a barn!!!  AHHH!

Saturday we did some shopping and looked at suits for the wedding.  I went to hang with my family yesterday, but ended up sitting in urgent care w/my mom and sister while sister got a breathing treatment...because she couldn't find her inhaler...

Looking forward to farm time and lake time with friends and family next weekend!!

Re: Goooood morning, TK!

  • FI is off for four days, I am VERY happy. I am also very happy because half of our venue decor is purchased.

Hopefully this week has less wild-ass bullshit at work than last week. I know I'd be super jazzed about that.

  • I had an awesome weekend! Saturday was a chillax day but Sunday FI and I went exploring and had lunch and went to a movie.

Hopefully the week will be light; my birthday is Saturday and I just really really want a nice, light week to ease into it. I do rather love it when my birthday falls on Labor Day weekend, hahaha. FI will be off Sunday and Monday, too. PLUS Auburn Football starts Saturday too! I'm not sure yet how I'm going to get it, but if I have to resort to streaming, then dammit that's what I'll do.

It's only Monday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend. Ugh.

  • The weekend was amazing! FI bought a truck on Friday and we spent all day Saturday cleaning the inside and outside and getting seat covers for it. He is so excited and it makes me happy to see him happy. I'm also happy because now that he has this, I get to drive the new car :)

That night we went to a friend's house for her surprise birthday party and at some amazing grilled pork ribs.

I woke up Sunday with a crick in my neck (and it is still there today) so bad I can't turn my head. We helped FI's sister movie her bed to their new house. We laid around and actually spent time together! I feel like with all of the weddings going on and us working all of the time, we take for granted the quality time we do actually have together. He also surprised me and took me to get ice cream after supper last night.

  • The weekend was awesome! On Saturday we went to a wedding which was a BLAST. I think it was the most fun I've ever had at a wedding. My one complaint is that I did not get a crabcake >:0. (LOL). Yesterday, we went from the hotel to the beach. One of my friends and his girlfriend recently moved and their place is near the beach, so they had a small get together. After we went back to their place to hang out for a bit, and then to a local bar where we had some pretty good bar food. So all in all, it was a very fun weekend!

  • I also had a great weekend!  We went camping at Rehoboth Beach, DE with Fi's high school friends.  On Saturday, we ate a late lunch at the Dogfish Head brewpub and spent the afternoon having an awesome time on the boardwalk.

I'm down to about 5 weeks before I start work, and September is becoming super packed with social events and family trips.  I'm a little worried I won't have time to organize the house the way I want and take care of stuff before I begin working.  We may also wind up moving about a month after I start work, and if we're going to do that, I want to start packing up some nonessential stuff.  So I'm having a mini freak-out about getting shit done this month.

Today I'm headed out to pick up some pants I had hemmed and go grocery shopping (I live a thrilling life).  Then I might do some household chores.  When Fi gets home, we are going to look at a few apartments and then I'm going to boot camp with my sister.

Absolutely unacceptable. Running out of crab cakes is seriously one of my biggest wedding fears.

  • DH took me out for sushi on Friday night to make up for me having to take the bus so many days last week. I was exhausted from all the extra commuting and ate so much sushi that I fell asleep as soon as we got home. I slept 7-10pm, got up to read until 11, then slept until kitty woke me up at 6:30am because she wanted to sleep on my pillow.

Saturday I went to yoga class in the morning. DH was supposed to work Saturday, but he ended up having the day off so we did some back to school shopping together. I will enter my 4th year of my PhD next week and DH is starting a night class. We also had the big talk on TTC and decided that we are going to take a little trip for our first anniversary and start TTC! DH decided we needed to pick out baby names ASAP so we talked about that and ended up with the names Arya, Adelaide and Alexius.

Yesterday I finished the writing part of my progress report. Now I need to edit and insert all the data figures.

  • This weekend was so nice. I wish it was still here!

Friday night was date night and FI and I went to our favorite Thai place and then we ended up taking a nightime stroll by a lake. Super romantic.

Saturday, I went to lunch with a cousin who is designing the jewlery for my wedding. We ended up partaking in one too many bloody mary's and then had to browse around town for a couple of hours. Darn!

Sunday, FI and I did not get out of our PJs all day. We made homemade sausage that we put on homemade pizza. We watched movies and just had a cuddle day. It was amazing.

I had a good weekend. I did nothing but eat ice cream and drink gin and watch superhero movies.

I'm in ultra bitch mode today because I am trying really hard to book a venue, and it makes me want to elope. It's awful. I'm booking the first place with customer service and a working phone. I kind of hate wedding planning, but I want a traditional wedding and I'm a control freak so a wedding planner would not be my friend.

I have a list of 15 places to call today and I will report back how many people answered their phone.

  • I had an interesting weekend. Something dramatic happened at a get together with our close circle of friends and now everyone is making it worse by continuing to gossip about it. I hate drama, so my natural reaction is this:

The good news is, the wedding invitations are officially in the mail. Thank goodness!

The bad news is, today is such a Monday. My hair dryer broke, and I have about 2987 pounds of hair to dry. I tried to use a desk fan to aid the drying process, but it did nothing, so I'm rocking a damp side braid at work today. I also forgot I ran out of half and half and can't drink black coffee, so none for me :( Plus, I have a million things I wanted to get done tonight but I forgot I am working all evening. ElcaB is cranky.

Right??!!!??  The good part is that there are a lot of places to choose from. Where I used to live you had a choice of two places within 100 miles.

  • I had a pretty good weekend.  I was in a ball tournament, and we defended our D division title.  Woo us!!  I also hit a 3 run home run, which I think is pretty good considering I haven't played all season.

Our wedding was interesting.  The couple apparently got married on Friday legally, and then did the ceremony Saturday.  No idea why.  Their friend did the ceremony, and it seemed out of order, but whatever.  Gap and twoonie bar, which is totally the norm around here, but apparently one of the GM had the liquor license, so when guests began arriving for cocktail hour, they couldn't serve.  Someone said take a photo and e-mail, and they let it slide, but I think it was technically still illegal.  Their friends and family were also selling drink tickets from their table, so I felt a little bad for them.  The cake never showed up, so there was no dessert aside from the candy bar.  It's the first wedding I'v been to with a candy bar and I'm glad it was there.  And there was about 90 minutes of speeches.  We actually had a pee/drink break intermission in the middle and then continued with more speeches.  It was a lot long.

They also had an artist doing caricatures, which DH and I did, since we don't have anything like that of us.  It was pretty fun.  And I got to dance a lot with my little niece.  And hide under the head table with her.  Now it's the last 3 days before I go back to work.  It's been a slice this summer ladies!!  :)

  • The good:
We went rock climbing on Saturday. Perfect weather.

    The bad:
We had to go to a friend's house for dinner Sunday night for their son's 4th birthday. FI and I went to Toys "R" Us to get a present and as a childless couple, we found Toys "R" Us overwhelming. FI posted a funny picture of us on FB saying something like - "This is how we look at Toy "R" Us" and we both looked scared and confused. Next thing you know, all our relatives AND his mom's friends are asking why we're at Toys "R" Us and if we're buying toys for our baby that's on the way.

Then at dinner, the wife kept saying, "Oh, you'll see! I know you guys are going to have kids right away." I didn't even say anything.

    The ugly:
The situation with brother. And I fucked up my knee pretty bad.
  • I worked all weekend, but that was okay cause I made bank this weekend. I'm actually working today, cause my manager is on vacation, normally I have Monday off. But this means I don't have to make a special drive to get to spin class tonight, so that makes me happy.

  • Exhausting weekend! Daughter's MOH asked to move the shower to my house, because her mom wasn't well. My mouth said, of course, no problem at all.
My brain said, are you out of your effing mind? Have you seen the state of my house? Do you know how much furniture moving needs to be done?
(I sell furniture. This means at any given moment there might be five or six weird tables or chairs or dressers or giant mirrors or whatever taking up my space. Also, half finished furniture on deck with saws and drills and sanders and stain and paint frikking everywhere.)

But my mouth functioned independently, I said okay, and spent three days busting my ass getting ready, and somehow, and I'm not even sure how this happened, I ended up shopping and making platters of sandwiches and two kinds of fruit compote and caramel for the Sundae bar and burned the hell out of my homemade pralines while I was distracted trying to cram more furniture into The Room Of Requirement (the basement) and driving to the Dahlia farm to discover that someone (or several someones) had purchased EVERY frikking white and peach and coral dahlia in the universe, so frikking change of decorating colors.
Then washing all the antique china and sundae dishes and setting up the tables and ironing linens and assembling all the food.
Where was the real hostess, the MOH, who had promised to help? I do not know. Buying a new dress.
She arrived less than an hour before start time, and apparently had time to do beautiful makeup and hair, to go with her super cute new Anthropologie dress, and I had time for....well, nothing. Time to throw a maxi dress on and rebraid my hair at the last second and barely any makeup at all, and tired and over stressed.
She didn't stay to help pick up, either.
Do I sound pissy and resentful?  That would be because I am pissy and resentful.

And I am tired. I sat on the porch after everyone left a drank a bottle of Prosecco , and maybe smoked a little green stuff. I was baked. Now I'm sorry.

Sundae bar was superfrikking fabulous, though.
Shower was nice, even with very pink florals. Daughter was happy.

    Bolded: You're awesome. For reals.

About the MOH: Wow what a beeyatch! I guess "My mom is sick can we move the party to your place?" was also code for "Hey can you give her a shower instead? I need to go shopping and stuffs so I'll look fabulous at a party not meant for me"

  • My weekend was decent. FI was out of town visiting some friends in his home town, so I stayed with my parents for the weekend and spent Friday and Saturday drinking with my dad and lounging in their pool, wondering why the hell I traded all that for having my own place with FI and us being grown ups with bills to pay.

Sunday was awesome bc FI got back into town early, and we did fun wedding stuff. We even managed to cut our guest list down by about 100 people (which has been a pretty sore subject for us until now bc he wants to invite everyone he shares DNA with), and then he agreed that STDs are a good idea since we have so many OOT guests.

However, my Sunday bliss came crashing down when FILs called wanting to come see us this weekend. My original plan was the do a Pure Romance party this coming Friday night (I'm a consultant) and then Saturday me and FI were going to tailgate with some of our awesome friends for the Auburn game-War Damn! And I planned to celebrate college football returning by getting shmammered at said tailgate. Unfortunately, FI's family have decided they want to come visit us this weekend-even though FI JUST saw them all this past weekend while he was in town, so I'm going to have to play hostess to FFIL, FMIL, FBIL, and FBIL's whiny rotten babies. Meaning I have to hide all my Pure Romance stuff so FILS don't find out I sell dildos in my spare time, and now I can't get funky at the tailgate because they will all be sitting on my couch waiting for us to return home. Boooooo.

    Ha, me too.
Post bridal shower, I feel my house was full of geese. And a couple of loons. (I am one.)

I see more than two loons on the daily. I went to the damn grocery store saturday and I swore I walked into a mini gathering of the juggalos. Shit was weird.

    1. Bought my wedding gown!

    2. Discovered Blueberry Rum with cranberry juice.

  • Weekend was awesome, but now I am having trouble recovering.

Friday night was FI's bach party. I stayed home and treated myself to wine and a bubble bath until the boys wandered back in at 10, after getting kicked out of a bar for breaking the cornhole boards. (FI used to play baseball. He threw the sack too hard.) They stayed up half the night watching stupid movies and I put in earplugs to go to sleep.

Saturday was my bachelorette. My bridesmaid M came over at noon to decorate my house, to find me and FI standing in the back yard flipping off the lawn mower that wasn't working. We finally fixed it and got the lawn mowed, just in time to get everything set up for the party. We had brunch for dinner, then fancy tea, then broke out the sangria. M brought a sexy quiz for everyone to do, then we did a Mad Libs of the worst passage of the worst romance novel ever. Then we played Cards Against Humanity. After that we passed around another romance novel to read aloud--you had to read until you were laughing too hard to continue. I got to read last, so I had to read the really awkward ending of the sex scene. Then Never Have I Ever, which is way more fun when you're an adult. Lots of wine and sangria and various other beverages. We all crashed in the living room, and FI brought us donuts in the morning.

Yesterday, M did my makeup trial. It turned out really well except I had an allergic reaction to the blush and now my face hurts.
