Yesterday FI and I went to the beach with some friends. FI and I were in the parking lot gathering our stuff, when this black car with some really loud guys zig zagged really fast and made a fast stop towards the middle of the parking lot. Some guy ran out of the car and I saw him run towards a Seagull that appeared to be resting. He kicked the seagull, all the guys started cheering, ran back to the car, and the driver of the car sped towards the seagull. The seagull kinda rolled over, the car made a sharp turn, and sped away.
It all happened so fast, but I realized after that the seagull was hurt, and not resting. I guess the guys noticed the bird from wherever they were, and that's why they sped to kick it and attempt to kill it. It also happened so fast that I did not think quick enough to take a picture of them to try to get their plates - I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't read the license from where I was.FI and I went over to the bird, but the closer we got to it, the more stressed it became. We think it had a broken leg, because he was not able to walk. He kept flapping his wings, but he could not fly away - FI thinks the bird was not able to get enough lift. I wanted to pick up the gull but FI said that was a bad idea and that getting help would be better, so we rushed to a police station on the beach. Thankfully, the cop there told us that the situation was already being taken care of, and they had nabbed the guys. I guess either someone else reported them, or maybe security saw them, I don't know. They had already dispatched someone to go and take care of the bird.
I have never seen someone abuse an animal, and I don't know what would possess someone to do that. FI and I were so angry and disgusted. I felt so terrible for the seagull. I hope those assholes got locked up for the night or something, and I hope bad things happened to them in jail.
