WR Hobbies?

Just wondering if anyone loves weddings so much they made a sort of hobby out of something wedding related?  I love bridal and wedding shows (if that counts) and I have taken to drawing out wedding dresses just for fun.

Re: WR Hobbies?

  • I have taken to day dreaming about working at a bridal salon/event planning agency.  Once I get back from my vacation I am probably going to submit my resume to a local salon/event planning company to try and get a part time internship.  I would really like to change my career path to something more in line with weddings.

  • I love planning events. I think wedding planning is so much fun. I'd love to work part time for an organization or person that does events.
  • I've been doing a lot of wedding invitation designs lately. I would love to make a side business out of it, but the market is pretty saturated so I don't think that's going to happen.

  • I hate planning my wedding. I like making stuff for the wedding.

I'd love to have a side business of doing other people's wedding crafts for them.

  • I still do wedding makeup as a freelancer (though far less frequently now that I don't depend on the income) and I make jewelry. I'm also everyone go-to DIY craft person. I just finished folding 1000 paper cranes for an upcoming wedding since neither the bride or groom had the time or patience to do it.

  • I'm still too entrenched in my own planning/crafting for anything to be a hobby. :)

You mean you don't want to make veils by hand for a living?
  • I enjoy event planning, that's why I majored in that in college and do that for a job. I would love to be a wedding planner or designer. I also like doing flower arrangements.

This is how much of a glutton for punishment I am - I have a yard of lace leftover from my veil (in addition to the 20+ yards of wrong lace) and thought "oh hey, I can just sew that onto the cover of the scrapbook for the guest book!" You know, in all my free time when I think "I really wish I could be stabbing myself in the finger with a needle right now."

  • Planning my wedding was more than enough for me.  Between my local dating pool and planning another wedding, I'll never get divorced.  Too much work

Is being a bridesmaid a hobby because I do that a lot.

And because of this and somehow all my sisters turn into scary bridezillas, I rather hate weddings and really don't want to plan my own. The only reason I post is because I love the posters here and I also love the drama of other people's lives.

But just think of all the fun stuff we could do with the 20 extra yards! You could make a dress for the TK margarita machine, make all of us mini-veils, or just strangle yourself!
  • I love the wedding planning which is why I started so damn early. I'd love to become a wedding planner but I am disorganized and would palmface at all the brides who want burlap/chevron/gatsby/shabby/Tiffany weddings.

  • I would totally be a wedding planner, if I weren't too attached to my weekends with FI.

Also, I would make veils for a hundred years. I LOVE VEILS.

  • As much as I love chatting on the forums on this site- I actually dislike weddings. I don't have fun at most, and just find them to be a waste of money. When someone says they spent like $7,000 on flowers, I die a little inside because of all the things it could be better spent on (my own opinion, no offense to others). I don't care if you're paying, I don't care if your parents are paying, I don't care if you're frigen Oprah- I still think it's a waste. So yea...I could never be a wedding planner or work in the wedding industry hahah.

  • I have actually thought about doing wedding planning for lower budget brides with my contacts that I have made through my wedding planning since most of them do pretty good work for lower prices than what's the "norm" in my area.
