Re: crap hit the fan over at ww

  • I don't die in the battlefield for cash bars (because I just don't give a damn about them, honestly), but give me a Plus One debate and I'm all over it.  And also, I hate assholes.

You can't ever find my finger-shaking posts because the threads always get hidden. *pouts*
  • Full disclosure - I didn't read the whole thing.  That said, we always encourage people to not count on money until they have it in hand.  If you can't pay for catering, cancel or postpone the honeymoon.  Cut back elsewhere.  Charge it.   There are other options than asking for handouts.  And why anyone would donate to someone on an internet message board is beyond me.  But people do it!  No wonder these stupid funding sites won't go away.  I wonder if I create a sob story I can take the money to pay for my Hawaii trip.
  • Jeez how are these things happening right now? This is terrible. Post is hidden. Karma'll be a bitch.

  • @sunshinejenn03‌ - serious question because this is a rare opportunity, why WW over TK?

  • This is why I'm always so skeptical of those funding sites. It's hard to be sure you're not getting the wool pulled over your eyes.
This. Remember that woman who came on here just a few weeks ago wanting a "miracle" and asking people to send her money?  How do you know it's not something like this?  I would never give anyone money over the internet, and, quite frankly, anyone who did over on wedding wire is a few* cards short of a full deck.

(And by a few, I mean at least half.)
  • @southernbelle0915‌ - I know you asked @sunshinejenn03‌ but I'll throw in my two pennies since I see you're a mod. The layout of TK's forums are a pain to navigate. On WW you can see all the topics by latest posted if you choose not to click a specific topic. And while I found a lot of the etiquette rules and advice helpful here when I was in the beginning stages of planning, the delivery is often brutal. Yes, people can get rough on any forum but this one seems to be the worst of them.

I can see all of my posts here based on latest posted, not based on what I clicked.  I think it's something you can change in your settings.  I won't get into delivery, cos I know everyone has their preference.

I'll bite too. I discovered the forums 1st on WW. I stayed there because I clicked better with the users on there. I really only came on here when it was really slow at work. I didn't get on wedding bee because I hated their layout. I had a wedding most of you would have approved of etiquette-wise.
  • For being a very bride-centric forum, the posters at WW are very supportive, even if some of the advice is a little sketchy.
    Happiness is an inside job
  • Emily from WW (pretty flowers one) I still want to see your Back and Married when you get your decor pics back.
  • I hope everyone on WW learned a valuable lesson about funding weddings of people they didn't spawn.

  • @WinstonsGirl‌ - not MY posts, recent posts. Like just browsing the forums.

Yup.  All of the posts, from me and everyone else show up in order of most recent post for me.  For example, this one was about 15 down the page, and just popped back to the top with your last post.  I'm pretty sure it's something in the settings, cos others have asked before.

The forum layout here is just horrible.  It's all the weird forum nesting.  I also stayed at WW because the users are friendly.  Sure, sometimes some of them break etiquette rules (and they get called out, too), but overall, it's a friendly vibe.
WW is like that neighborhood dive bar down the street near the seedy part of town.  The patrons are are mostly friendly, but there is peeling wallpaper and the occasional bar fight.  Overall, WW pretty chill.
  • Just another reason I severely hate go fund me.

I get that people have hard times - but seriously - people do goodfundmes for so much bullshit. This chick is just like pretty much 95% of everyone on that site - they have the money to live, they just want to be special and get something they can't afford.

Thanks I'll have to play with my settings some time. I don't come on here nearly enough to worry about it too much. I just popped over to see if y'all had got word about the gofundme because I like drama.

So girl books HM and save $2k for extra spending money.
Girl's cousin was to pay for some (all?) the catering bill.
Cousin loses job and can't pay.
Girl sets up gofundme fund to pay for catering.
    WW members donate
Girl posts about her "expensive" HM
WW members are pissed cause they didn't know they had the money but wanted to use it for the HM instead.

    Did I get that right?

That is why I do not donate to things like caterers for a wedding.

Is this what we call irony?

Perhaps now all the WW advocates of Honeyfunds will be singing a different tune?
