Today I learned...

...that if you image-google Orange wedges you get your daily healthy mix of (possibly) cute shoes AND delicious fruit. :D

I'm a dork. I know. I just felt like sharing.

How has everyone else's day been?

Re: Today I learned...

  • I learned that you can't get from here to or from Anguilla in one day.     So it's 2 days there and 2 days back.  With a 15+ hour layover  (overnight) in Newark.   Lovely.

Good news is my Aunt and cousin both live not too far from the airport so they will pick us up and take us to dinner on our way there.  On the way back we are hoping DH's family will met us in the city for dinner.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I started back to work today.  Our AP got a temp Principal position and this was the most relaxed day I've ever had back at work.  It's amazing how 1 person can ruin a day.  Half the staff was quietly celebrating in the halls this morning.

  • Ha!! I'm tired and sometimes slow. It took me 3 solid read throughs because all I would picture were orange wedges...like the shoe

I may or may not live within spitting distance of the airport........

I do, too, but in the opposite direction from Cookie.  There are worse airports to be stuck in than Newark. You're a short taxi ride away from lots of yummy food.

This might call for a Jersey meetup. There are so many great restaurants within a 15-20 minute drive of the airport. There's a ton of awesome Portuguese/Brazilian restaurants in Newark.

I know.  I'm so excited.    DH just started his diet so I can't talk about them quite yet (the boy changes the channel when he sees a food commercial, baby steps) , but I know he will be happy with the options when it gets there.

  • I learned something crappy. My picc line may have to be replaced tomorrow. Something happened to it over the weekend and it's no longer flushing properly. It's not infected, which is good, but now I have a defective port and picc. Ugh.

@lolo883. OMG. I had to drive to Redford last Friday and had no idea 96 was closed from 275 to Telegraph. WTF. So I took Plymouth Rd the whole way (zzzzzz).

Then, I had to head downtown for orientation at Wayne State. I make my way over to Telegraph, get on 96, get on 94, and oh hey... the exit to John R is closed. WTFSONOFABITCH. So whatever. I get off at the next exit and double back.

Heading back to Redford, I'm all, "Oh, I'll just take 96 to Telegraph to Plymouth," and get in the Express lanes. NOPE. Closed at Southfield Fwy. So north I go, and I think I'll turn around and get on the local lanes to Telegraph. Nope! Can't go west from Southfield Fwy. Head back east, get off at DAVISON LOLNOPE. Turn around as fast as I can, get on the local lanes, wait in line to get off at Telegraph.

Did I mention that I left Detroit at 5:00, and the city was already filling with traffic for not only the Lions game, but also the Eminem and Rihanna concert?

    FML.

    I. was. pissed.

Poor guy. I was a total crab when I went low carb for the month before the wedding. Change = Hard.

Def let me know what your schedule on the return flight - I'm always up for good food!

Ugh, that sucks. It's good that it isn't infected, but not good that it's defective. Hopefully they get it straightened out for you!

Yes. That is exactly what my face looks like just thinking about it. Except with a giant glass of cab sauv attached to it.

I'm somewhat lactose intolerant, but I ain't giving up ice cream. I can deal with the consequences.

If I became gluten intolerant, it would be like the end of the world.

  • @Ic07 Oh I'm so sorry. I'm lactose intolerant but I will never give up my grilled cheese and ice cream. Stomach be damned. The gluten thing - that's rough. I'm fairly certain that bread makes up like 2/3 of my diet and I would cry if I had to give it up.

Oh no, cheese and bread!  I've been eating mostly grain free for the last few weeks and it wasn't as terrible as I expected. But you can pry my beer from my cold dead hands.

  • I just learned that I can easily bribe our trash guys. We got rid of tons of rotten flooring and other crap from our spare bedroom project and were worried about getting it hauled away without the customary huge fee. I was in the driveway when the garbage guy came, offering bottles of water and juice and being super-sweet. All of our crap is gone!
