"Paperless" Ceremony

So call it what you want, but most of the time the wedding programs, menus, etc. end up in the trash shortly after the wedding. Why spend money on something that will not be kept?

My thought, I am a "techie" so what if I create a QR code for the wedding program, menu? Maybe a board with the seating assignment posted, etc.? 

Has anyone ever seen it? Is this too far fetched? Any other ideas to save budget wise and not waste?

Obviously my older guests might need some assistance, so there will be a few paper products, but other than that...

    You don't need a program nor a menu. I'd skip the QR code.

    I don't care if there are programs or menus.  I never use QR codes.  Not going to start for your wedding.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    I don't like QR codes.  If you don't want to have paper programs or menus that's fine.  But if you do want to have programs or menus, lots of people, even tech-savvy ones, don't have apps for QR codes on their phones.  And even those that do may not want to use them at a wedding.

    People still use QR codes?

    Honestly, whenever I see them posted by business it just makes me think of how my mom will hear a song that was popular 3 years ago and text me saying how she found a cool new song.

    Cue sad trombone.

    The last thing I think when I see a QR code nowadays is "golly, this person is really hip to the tech!" So yea, skip that. And feel free to skip the rest too.

    Just don't have menus or programs.
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Consider just creating one sign at the entrance with the program and one sign near the food with the menu. Or as others said, you can skip them all together. 

    I don't love QR codes, plus once you've encouraged folks to get their phones out they may forget to put them away...

    I don't use QR codes.  If you don't want to spend the money for printed programs or menus, don't.  They're not required!  I would, however, have printed escort cards or a printed seating chart.

    Yep, QR codes aren't a best practice in digital marketing. Just skip the paper stuff.
