I don't actually have pictures of the house because they are building it but here's the model. It has 2 more bedrooms and a full bath upstairs and a 1/2 bath downstairs.

@lmcooper86 exactly, at the end of the day it will be your house (not his parents and not your parents) - we were pretty standoffish with our parents, haha. I let mine drive my the front just because they were there the day after we put in an offer and it got accepted. H's dad just saw it this weekend and his mom is likely coming in like two weeks. She will probably be annoying and want to decorate rooms I have no interest in decorating until we've like...fixed up the walls or something. I'll have to find something to appease her lol

@lmcooper86 I can see how that would be intimidating for your first house. I would be nervous too but I don't have anyone who could do the work cheaply

I too would be really aggravated with my in laws getting that involved in the house decisions. I definitely value my parents' opinions and go to them for advice a lot but hopefully would not let their opinions sway me that much! You're right, this will be YOUR home, not theirs. I hope you and your FI find something that you both love and your FIL butts out!

HAHAHA I was posting away and then realized shit everyone is going to be like "who the eff is you?" I cancelled the email that my account was under because it was old and got hacked so I just decided to resign up with my current email and a new name

I love everybody's new houses on here!!

@Swazzle - I told FI in our new home, I'd like a movie/TV room and I want a BUNCH of <<THESE>> bean bag chairs - I have one and we have them at work and they are super comfy (but they are a little pricey). <<THESE>> Bean bags have me intrigued as I've never tried them, but I have friends who say they are comfy, I think they're even more pricey though.

I have a friend that worked for Lovesac in college so I'm a big fan of those!!

I wanna AW my house too, but it's currently a construction zone, so I'm going to wait until it's done and then show before and after pictures. Especially since the cracked paint, ugly paneled walls, ugly wall paper, and discolored carpets do not photograph well.

@swazzle, I'm sure you'll like it more/love it once you put in an offer and it has been accepted. It is hard to really become attached to something that has the potential of not being yours.

@goldenpenguin - I love the pool! Actually I love the whole house. The flipper knew what he/she was doing.

@blue your house is gorgeous!

So there's also another one that I found shortly after we started looking that I loved, and FI has been kind of "meh" about it from the beginning, but I was trying to convince him. When we were doing open houses two Sundays ago, we just randomly fell upon the one I showed you guys, and when we left, I looked at him & said "I won't even make you go look at that first one I liked if we can just get this one. Please please please."

We wrote out our "must haves" and "wants" and it literally has EVERYTHING on both lists. I NEED IT TO BE OURS.

AHH I LOVE everything about this thread!! @swazzle that house is soo beautiful, I love the characteristics and the floors and the french doors, and the jacuzzi tub! @goldenpenguin gawwwd I want a pool!!! I'm so jealous of you house shoppers/buyers. We're locked in to two more years in our townhouse and I can't TAKE IT!

I might be joining the 'club'. So, we ended up finding mom's will...which left everything to me and Bean. We had all agreed that I would keep the house anyways, but this makes it official I guess. ANYHOW...over the weekend, my brothers encouraged me to sell and buy in a better neighborhood (Bean has had his life threatened a few times by the hoodlums around the corner). We've been talking about it all week and talked with Bean about it and I think we're all in agreement. When we get mom's house all cleaned up, we're going to look at selling and moving to a bit of a better neighborhood, but still in the area.
