We can request threads be closed now?

Hi Mods, I saw that in wedding woes an OP closed a thread by requesting that it be closed. Are there any guidelines about that? I thought that threads couldn't be closed by request unless it was getting super out of hand or something.

Also please close in advance if every reply doesn't tell me I'm the best. (I'm a pretty pretty princess will be accepted as well)

    To my understanding, we are only suppose to close it if things get out of hand. That doesn't include a SS getting their feelings hurt though.

    Yeah, the thread on Wedding Woes was pretty darn tame. The OP may not have gotten the answer she wanted but it was FAR from being out of control.

    Because in my mind out of hand and butthurt are two completely different things, and I really don't want this place to turn into WW.

    My understanding is that threads should be closed if there are multiple violations of the TOS. The offenders should be either given a PM warning and/or flagged for KP to make the decision on banning. Any posts with personal info, such as phone numbers, real names etc... should be deleted.

    Butthurt = thread stays open
    Zombie = close that shit down
    Legit personal attacks = close and inform the craycrays that they are going to cut the shit or be banned.

    ETA: SS ~*requests*~ for thread closings get denied unless real true attacks are going on.

    I've closed things from last year or if the post was from 6 months ago and the bride needed advice for her wedding 3 weeks away. Clearly, the OP does not need the advice anymore. 

    I agree that SS requests don't constitute a thread closure.

    KP said somewhere that posters' requests to close threads wouldn't be considered if they simply didn't agree with the advice given. All your meeting would have consisted of was "Sorry, OP, but nothing violated the TOS in that thread."
