Wedding Woes

It's Friday! It's Friday!

This week has seemed long.  I have been working extra time every day to make up for missing hours last week.

What's up for the weekend?  We have nothing planned and that is a glorious thing.  We are going to get some more packing done.

Re: It's Friday! It's Friday!

  • Today is DH's 30th birthday.  He usually prefers me making him his favorite dinner to going out for his birthday, but he and son have practice tonight so we're going out.  I'm cooking tomorrow.

Other than that, nothing much planned.  I'd like to find a cute shirt for our trip next weekend.
  • I have nothing for today.  I should take the kids to the library or clean, but really I'm going to run a load of laundry and let the kids run outside.  It's supposed to be 90, humid, and stormy.  Perfect night for meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  M2 wants to make brownies so we might do that.  If they have a can of black beans they're healthy right?

Tomorrow is a soccer game and nothing else is planned.  I imagine Costco at some point and hopefully DH is meeting someone to sell his surround sound.

  • I'm off today! I have an OB appointment at 9:45 and a meeting with one of my professors at 1, but other than that I have a whole bunch of nothing. It's the same for this weekend -- nothing.

If everything goes well at my appointment though, we will be announcing on Facebook, so we might spend the weekend inundated with messages and calls.

  • Nothing big.  Swim class.  I think the neighborhood pool is closed for the season now.  First soccer game isn't until next weekend, so we might take advantage of our light schedule and bum around the house and work on getting things back in order following the move.  We've been in the new house for over a month now, but with the beach and back to school and sick baby and everything, there is still work to be done.

S/o sick baby, DS still has a bit of an upset tummy.  Took him back to the pedi, who is pretty confident it's just the after-effects of his amoxicillin, and not related to the issues from a few weeks back.  So the bad news is, he was sent home from DC.  Again.  The awesome news is that DH learned that one of his benefits is emergency backup in-home childcare, for minor illnesses, nanny calls in sick (or, you know, quits after the first day), whatever.  Six American dollars an hour, y'all--the bank subsidizes the rest.  Where has this been all my life?  They contract with a benefits provider who works with agencies to get sitters who are pre-screened, certified, CPR and everything else.  Sitter showed up at 7:15 on the dot, by 7:30 I was on the road.  I think I heard angels singing as I backed out of the driveway.
  • ooooh Nola have fun!

Why is it when you throw on clothes and run to the store for ONE feminine medicine (and it's the only thing in the cart) do you run into 3 women from the neighborhood.

  • Heffa, that emergency In-home childcare service sounds OSSUM!

IDK what's up this weekend...maybe Greek festival tonight or tomorrow. More dancers tomorrow, better chance of a rainout as well.

Then installation of new pastor on Sunday...DD is in kiddie choir, so she'll be participating...at least as much as she wants to put up with it. I just wanna get house chores done :-/

I couldn't believe it.  We're both sort of regretful that we didn't know this was an option, and thrilled that we have it now.  With DD, she was always either sick enough that she needed to stay home and have a parent (usually me) comforting her, or well enough for school.  DS feels fine, but can't go back to daycare until his digestive system is sorted out, and it's now been two weeks--I can't miss two weeks of work, YKWIM?  (Or if I do, it should be because I'm on a beach somewhere.)
  • Heffa we have that. It rocks. But we've burned through our hours this year so if we use the service we now have to pay $40/hour per kid. Ouch.

DS decided what he wants to be for Halloween but I can't find the costume in his size and he refuses to be something else. He wants to be Chase from Rescue Bots but Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, abd Heatwave are not acceptable. Gah.

I worked out this morning. Second time this week. Time to lose the weight and get healthy. I think I had a hell of a time recovering from being sick because I'm just not healthy. I feel sluggish and tired constantly, and I know mentally I need to work out to help me. Here's hoping I can keep going.
  • Tonight clean the apartment. Tomorrow we're playing host to a bunch of friends for lunchish/dinnerish/drinkingish. Sunday the new babysitter comes over for "orientation" and then we have a BBQ at a cousin's.
  • This week has kicked my butt.  With new job coming, trying to wrap up old stuff, I feel beat.

I have a massage this afternoon, but I know I'll probably be kicking around doing more work following that  We'll see how that turns out.

H works all weekend, so I have long run, short run, me time.
  • Damn NOLA! That's awesome, good job. I can do it, I just got to stick to it. Right now DD is teething and sleeping like crap, so it's hard when all I want to do is sleep.
  • Update: we heard the heartbeat, so tomorrow we're finally telling everyone, yay!

At lunch today though, my mom told me that she'd told my sister about babby and that she said she wanted to be an involved aunt. Anyone who has been around for awhile knows that I hate her fiance with a burning passion, so we don't talk often, but I thought I'd give it a try and text her. I sent her something about school because I'm doing my RN-BSN at the college from which she graduated and that went nowhere, then I sent an ultrasound pic and said she should come up to Nashville some time and we can get pedicures and catch up. She responded by telling me that I'm a shitty person because I haven't become BFFs with her fiance and that if I ever want a relationship with her, I have to have a positive relationship with him too.

So I'm kinda angry and tachycardic and upset right now and it sucks. I mean, I'm glad that I have friends who are sibling-close to me and don't worry that our spawn won't have quality aunts and uncles, but damn. I'm friends with one half of relationships -- why does her fiance have to be involved in some package deal? I don't get it.

She told me I didn't understand and that she was shutting her phone off. Whatever, I don't give a shit, I can't let this get to me because there are so many other good things right now and I don't want this to weigh me down.

  • If you don't mind my asking, what's the issue with her FI?

    1. He's an ecstasy dealer.
    2. He doesn't believe in psychiatry, so he guilted her into stopping her medication for bipolar disorder.
    3. He tries to be an artist as his trade, but he doesn't take criticism, so he continues to lose clients and burn bridges, thus making them have to move to different cities because he's pissed everyone off.
    4. He made her sell her car to make rent instead of just getting a paying job.
    5. They have to move every six months because they can't make rent because he won't get a real job but also doesn't let my sister get a real job because he wants her helping him with his failing startups.
    6. He tried to sell things to our friends and family at our wedding because they had been kicked out of their apartment and were living in my parents' basement, so he wanted to make money from a group of strangers so they could move.
    7. He told me I was a shitty dog mom.
    8. They stole a bunch of BluRays and DVDs from our house, saying they were 'borrowing' them to watch them, and when we asked for them back, they said they never had them.

There's probably other shit too, but that's what came to mind first. Not someone I want around our kids.

  • Ugh, what a doucheface.  Hard to imagine what she sees in him.

He's pretty much the biggest bag of ass. I elected to do the low-intervention method of ignoring them and letting her work it out instead of being a raging bitch, but apparently being ignored is enough for her to claim that we treat them like shit. I'm hoping that maybe she's just coming to realize she's fucked up by being with this guy and is just taking it out on me.

you're putting black beans in brownies? that's worse than Wonderw1fe's husband adding flaxseeds to her cake.
  • I was skeptical, but I ate 3 before I knew they had black beans.  You blend them so it's not like biting into a whole one or anything.
